So. I know you, but you don't me. I'm Chuck--moved into town about a year ago, and been on this network since January.

...I'm also a Blood Key. [Chuck grabs the neckline of his shirt and pulls it down to show the keyhole tattoo on camera.] Now, before any of you start sharpening your axes, I'm saying that to try and help--trust me, I think what's going on here is just as messed up as you do, and I have information I bet you guys could use.

So instead of trying to kill me, just...think of me as your man on the inside. [He puts on a confident grin, almost leaning into a smirk.] Deal?

Where: By Locke's City Hall.
What: One of Locke's visitors from beyond the atmosphere would like to make acquaintances of some of the city's other less-mundane occupants.

Spend your busy days with monsters and your quiet ones with aliens. )

[OOC: If your character cannot, would refuse to, or just plain wouldn't meet with Geoff in person but you'd still like him to speak with them, you may have them call in if you like.

Remember that speaking with Geoff directly 1. leaves a person under the influence of a supernatural "charm" effect which makes him seem trustworthy by default, and 2. grants eligibility for a plot Echo.

1. I'm starting to think it might be a good idea to see what is or isn't going on in Las Vegas, if anyone wants to come. I'm not flying, so probably we'll drive, or go by train, or something. It's going to be terrible but I don't want to kick up a fuss at the airport. If you want to come, eighteen years old or with parental permission, please, let's all have some common sense.

2. Is there anyone at all good at...I don't know. Electrical rigging. Wiring. Plugs and adapters and things. Making plugs and adapters and things fit into sockets they wouldn't ordinarily fit into, I suppose.

3. Vaguely related to #2. What happens when you're starting to think you weren't exactly human? I mean. At least, not entirely. Jury's still out on that one.

So, some of you might be wondering what the hell happened to all those giant robots, and just what the government is doing. Luckily, we were not just tossed into a cell with the key thrown away, but I guess let me get my introduction out of the way. Again.

Obviously, my name's not Lockon Stratos. I'd feel sorry for any kid who had to write that on their tests growing up. My actual name's Neil Dylandy. Honestly, coming on here, you all looked sort of crazy so I had good reason to try and cover myself until I figured out what was what. I kind of see that better now.

It's because I saw what a lot of you were made of that I'm trying to put in whatever good words I can. None of us asked for this crap. But I'm hoping they'll listen to at least some of what I've got to say - it might not mean a lot nowadays, but I used to be Army. It's something, right? So the Feds know things now. Understand that. Maybe there's bastards like Sherman in their ranks too, but there's a chance that has to be taken there.

I'm coming clean with you all because we're all going to have to do that a lot more of that if we're going to get anywhere. There's probably a hell of a lot more work to do. We need to make sure we've got the ability to meet it. Fighting the US Government on top of aliens isn't going to help us, obviously.

We're fine. We're not being held captive. The robots are fine. We can check in on them.

I'm not saying to not be careful around these guys, because I am - why do you think I'm writing this long-assed letter by hand? - but we've gotta find things to trust, hard as it is. I want to trust you guys, but we've gotta make sure the world trusts us too.

[And he leaves it there, because his hand is starting to cramp. Technology has made us all lazy.

Some people might not be happy with him there, but that's fine. It was things that needed to be said - painting the picture that the FBI was actually cooperating with him, which they were, seems like a necessary step. He waits for any responses that might come through, but after that will end up spending most of his day where the aforementioned giant robots are being held.]

[He's been holding off on making a post here for a while now. He's mainly lurked since he first connected in January and saw people plotting Blood Key murders, but after Wise Snake he has too many questions and not enough people to talk to about this stuff.]

I'm gonna take a wild guess here and say you guys weren't the ones who unleashed that giant snake thing on the city. It doesn't look like it based on what you're all saying on the news, anyway. (Nice costumes, by the way.) I guess I should just feel lucky my house is still standing, even though there are rescue teams camping out here and shutting down half the roads.

Just two questions: Anyone got any idea what caused all this in the first place? There's no way some giant snake monster went all Godzilla on everything out of nowhere.

Second, I know we're all getting these 'echoes' that are dropping giant robots on people left and right, but this is different. This isn't something I own, this is something I can do.

[to better illustrate his point, he switches to video. He makes sure his face is out of frame first (he doesn't trust you THAT much, guys) and backs up several steps, so that only his arm is in view against the wall behind him. Then, with a whining noise, metal erupts out of his arm to form one of these. After flexing the fingers for a few seconds, the machine folds back into his perfectly fleshy, human arm. He walks back over to the screen and shuts off the video.]

A ripple in the air pulses - heavily - from where it once was, with absolutely no sound and color, but penetrating force. Anyone standing within two miles of the point of origin will feel a push, with those closest guaranteed to be knocked off their feet and temporarily dazed. Cars swerve and crash. Staff in the nearest office buildings launch into disarray. There’s no shielding from the blast - it can be felt through walls, through structures, in the air, and underground.

And it is felt underground.

The entire business district starts to shake, abruptly, jarred to a stir by some movement. It rises over the span of a long half-a-minute to the magnitude of December’s earthquake.

Tuning Towers experiences the worst of it - windows are smashing and objects are shaking loose and falling from the upper floors.

It finally ends - with screaming - as the head of an enormous pink snake breaks the lobby floor.

It flows its way quickly out of the hole it’s made, breaks itself another hole ever so politely through the main entrance doors, which were not meant to accommodate a twenty-foot-tall-and-wide exitor, and as it draws the last of its tail out after it, the quaking dies down.

It’s now roaring its way through the streets of Locke City’s business district - all several hundred meters of Wise Snake, emerged in the flesh (or stone?).

No regard for the walls of buildings, streetlamps, civilians, stopped and blindly pulled-over vehicles, anything else on its course - in a frantically-awakened, unrestricted rampage.]

I've seen a number of people asking about echoes and collecting information on what people have received, but as far as I'm aware, there hasn't been much talk on what echoes have revealed about the differences in who you are now, and who you once were.

I don't mean physical differences, of course, but... have any of you seen enough in your echoes to have an idea of what your other self was like? Their family, occupation, personality? Choices they made that you don't understand, or seem to be very different from what you would do?

You don't have to answer in specifics if you're not comfortable, though I would like to have as much data on this as possible. Both out of curiosity, and because I believe the being in my echoes is... quite different from me. And not merely because of the alien robot part.

To put it simply: I am a doctor, and a professor, and he was quite clearly a soldier.

Of all the things, there's now cops on the LCU grounds. Which probably isn't new info, but still. Text just does not convey my distaste for this situation but it's not as if I can sit in the faculty office chatting away to my phone about this. That and someone could have a glass to the door for all I know.

I think perhaps any faculty on here should have a meeting, see if we can't figure something out here. Normally I'd think that if the students had nothing to hide, they'd have nothing to worry about, but if this isn't sitting right with me - and I've only ever had one parking fine - then something might be going down.

Or I could sit here, drink copious amounts of coffee (which I'm two cups away from as it is), and see if I can't figure out some assignment details.

I'd rather it was the previous option. I've been that bad at keeping tabs on things I'm not even sure who's on here.

Unless it’s of course about anime, he knows everything about anime, video games, and glorious Japan so don’t even think you got one over him on that, no sir.]

For anybody new to this network, my name is Naomi Kaufman. I work down at the city forensics lab, and I'm here to gauge interest in an idea I've been considering lately.

For the scientifically minded among us and/or other parties interested in finding more about what's going on here, what would you say to the idea of collaboration? I suspect - or at the least, I hope - that research and experimentation may bring to light new information about our situation.

For example: previously it was found that the chemical they added to the water in August seems to react specifically to those on this network, which implies (but doesn't confirm) that there may be a physiological difference between us and people outside this conspiracy. But if that difference exists, is that an inherent difference or somehow imposed? If the latter, what about us has changed?

And that's only from the matter of the water. There's bound to be more to be found from previous events and findings, although I'm not well experienced with anything else. Still, it may be that by pooling resources or specific areas of expertise and looking more closely at evidence we have already, we may be able to discover new information about this whole business.

I can't promise that this will go anywhere, but if it does then it would also require that people volunteer avenues of investigations - potential experiments, results of past echoes, suspicious items or samples from previous incidents like the water in August. Someone brought up the matter of trying to find out more about those who have experienced changes transforming them into something other than human, but that would require the cooperation of those who already exhibit nonhuman traits. All of this is strictly voluntary, of course.

If you're interested in this idea and/or in contributing something - ideas, resources, anything - please speak up.

[This time Anthony is calling in out of hesitance, not in spite of it - it was just a thought, tentatively-presented, and any form of text would make it seem a bit more formal - also hence the lack of a greeting or other courtesy phrase when he starts to speak, though the removed pressure in indeed going into it tentatively seems to be getting his words moving a tad more quickly and easily than usual, still in a reserved and hoarse tone.]

Would it -- uhm.

...Does anyone -- think we should, perhaps, erm -- ...compile - advice on -- managing types of changes that we've -- seen... more than once? And - situations... Not only changes.

[Catches up and stumbles out:] -- This is Anthony - by the way. Excuse me.

I -- wondered this because we've had two people - now -- that I'm aware asked - ...what to do for a blood craving. [That was mumbled; no very graceful, strictly-courteous way to put that, probably.] Maybe we could list - possible solutions to -- ...things that happen often... -- Or that are not that uncommon.

Excuse me.

So for my own curiosity, and for the sake of other people in this little Numbers Club, I thought it'd be a good thing for those of us in public service positions to make ourselves known so we know who we can trust on the job, and who others can trust if they need help. Strictly voluntary - if you don't want to point yourself out, that's fine too. I don't know about any of you folks, but I rather like knowing who all is on my side.

And I suppose if any civilians have questions for any of us, have at asking.

[OOC: Posting format is akin to a CR meme - characters introduce themselves and tell their position and any other information they want to share.]

[This memory bullshit is out of control. But memories, at least, he can pretend to ignore every once in a while.]

[The things suddenly tattooed on his face are another story entirely.]

...

Anyone know anything about tattoo removal? Quick removal.

Tired of all this. I can get fired over this shit.

[Probably not, but that's just the cranky ex-soldier getting even crankier.]

Who: Any and all!
Where: The site of Tuning Towers (and/or en route accordingly), at the heart of the business district in Locke City's downtown.
When: September 22nd and onward.
What: Following that mysterious buzzing sound to its strongest point! Perhaps you made plans with numbered associates for a trip downtown, or perhaps you went a-wandering alone to follow the noise yourself - surely you'll hardly be the only one.

I'd comment on the lights, but I do believe the rest of you already have that covered.

Instead, how many of you happen work at the local college? There's some equipment I'd like to use, but I'd much rather have the assistance of someone already with access than to try and figure out some sort of excuse.

I had an idea yesterday for a code the numbers club could use to indicate that a place was safe, or a person could help them.

Hear me out. For places, it would work like chalk signs -- small, innocuous symbols that would mean a house would offer shelter, or protection, or medical help. And for people...well, I'm not sure whether a spoken phrase or a visual sign would be best. Perhaps even a card or badge, or badges that varied from person to person for security's sake, but all containing a common theme or element that someone from the network would recognize. If we did decide to go that route, I was thinking that element might be a thorn, borrowing from our enemy's garden metaphor, but I'm still not entirely convinced that carrying something that will identify us as affiliated with the network is a good idea.

It will be dangerous, if the secret gets out to the police or ThunderCorp. We can't be sure that everyone on the network can be trusted. But for those of us who have already put our names and faces on the network, well, it wouldn't put us in any additional danger.

What do the rest of you think? Who else would be willing to do this?

I don't know if this has been asked on here before, but... [There's a momentary pause, as if he was trying to assemble his words. A shaky exhale is heard before he continues.] Has anyone else experienced war 'pulses'?

[He could have ended it there, keep it short and simple. But there was a another thing on his mind, despite being rather reluctant to share it.]

...There's a possibility that I might not be human anymore.
