[Saretha sits as she often does when addressing the Network. She looks prim. Proper. Subdued and yet fully attentive and with an expression that appears as if she is outright demanding respect, whether or not she gets it, without saying a word.

However. There is a difference.

The camera is pulled back. The shot is wider.

Standing behind her is... also Saretha. Both appear functionally identical, right down to the Kamui worn by them. The only difference is negligible, and yet stark - Saretha's face is impassive, unflinching, while with "Saretha"... she currently wears a decided smirk, with a look in her eyes that foretells a danger all too real and far different from whatever Saretha herself offers.

Saretha, sitting, the real one, is who begins to speak.]

Do not be alarmed. I am not be coerced by my "other" here, and if you know me even remotely you know such a thing would be laughable. I am in no danger from her, not at present.

[The doppelganger clears her throat, side-eyeing Saretha.] We really should make an attempt to distinguish ourselves at this point, my dearest Saretha. Satsuki will do, I think, yes?

[The doppelganger has a look of sick amusement in her eyes, while Saretha's jaw visibly clenches. She shoots a glare, and then continues on.]

She has given me an idea of how her and the other "doubles" have been standing in terms of perspective. Upon your inception, you knew not what you were. Nor did we. This led to a certain... level of misunderstanding about your intentions, I believe. Or yours about ours. Yet, between what they have experienced earlier in this month, and what Young said the other day... not to mention when I met her in January... and what Dr. Smith proposed to us before his Numbers stopped responding...

I was already reaching a state of clarity about what we are facing.

All... [Hn.] Satsuki here has done is verify that.

[The double smirks. Saretha gives her a look as if threatening to slit her throat.]

The initial monster, the snake, only woke upon the interference of the first alien. "Tiny." But... to what purpose? To what end? That alien obviously knew why. The way Young spoke before, these creatures are not things that were suddenly transplanted here. No, they have most assuredly been sleeping. Waiting.

The pink lights. The echo boundaries that result. The monsters, and their "offspring" - be it the snake's scales, our doubles, the Santas and Grinces... US. The way Young spoke of everything, of our souls, their souls, and everything that ties them together... All of us are connected, and not necessarily by way of the aliens.

Yet, Young seemed rather surprised we have not hunted down these doubles to kill them. Or perhaps she was disappointed that we instead stopped the Santas and Grinches in their goal to defrost whatever lay under Lapland.

Or maybe... both.

We know Benwick has been manipulating us. I know now why I trusted him where I trusted no one else in the world. It was very fortuitous that they set Young before us to speak, because that has opened my mind rather profoundly.

Tiny did not waken the snake to destroy us. Not then. No, the snake beneath Locke City, the shellfish in Las Vegas... those were never their weapons against us.

On the contrary, Young spoke very much - especially during the meeting with the Secretary of Defense, Lazarus, Shou, Benwick, and msyelf - as if they were beings to be destroyed. Aliens invading our planet, our Earth, that we know have been manipulating us. Manipulating the world, as is evident by Benwick's constant presence in the political limelight. Yet they... want us to destroy these creatures?

Tiny was no rebel.

Neither the monsters, nor their offspring, are our true opponents.

The aliens have been making us do their dirty work all along, setting us into a position where we would take out forces that could withstand untold damage. That could obliterate entire armies if roused.

We and our doubles share a common foe. And, I think, especially after everything that Young has said...

So do those monsters.

[The feed comes on to two women: Maryann Young and, in the background and a bit off to the side, real!Rakka who is watching Mrs Young closely.

The alien gives the network a brief, polite business smile before speaking up, a crease of confusion between her eyes.]

Your kind is illogical. You worry for the well-being of one being yet do not hesitate to murder another being that is essentially of the same nature.

Who: DoppelRaye, the magical girl squad and anybody else who answers the call.
What: Raye's Doppelganger has gotten tired of wasting time in Germany and wants to meet her other self's loved ones face-to-face.
When: March 1st to 2nd
Where: Las Vegas
Warnings: Probably violence. DoppelRaye being a monster. Possibly to be updated.

For a time, Raye had been content to spend her time in Germany simply observing the events surrounding her double and those around her. A few in particular had managed to catch her interest.

She ignores the human cattle milling through the streets of Las Vegas, gorging themselves on vice and sin. Senketsu gives a low growl under her black coat and she reaches up to pat the Kamui, recognizing his hunger. The creature's appetite was relentless and she'd soon have to feed him again, their partnership was one based on mutual benefit but counting on the loyalty of a hungry predator was its own level of foolishness.

Not just yet though. First, there's something she needs to do.

She made a beeline from the location of the city's teleporter to the hotel where the Precure had taken up residence. It was easy enough to get in. She was numbered after all, obviously a friend. Making her way up to the right floor, she finds herself outside the door of one Winter Adamas. Without any sort of announcement or preamble she reaches out and seizes the handle and twists. A crack rings out as the lock shatters and she pushes the door open, breaking through any kind of bolt with ease.

Smiling faintly, she steps inside.

"I hope I'm not interrupting anything."

[Another time during her visit to Vegas, a post from her appears on the network with a photo of a Las Vegas street and a text message.]

I'm in Las Vegas and feeding time is quickly approaching. Fortunately, there's plenty of livestock around.

If anybody has an issue with this, please feel free to come and find me.

Hey everyone. I know things are really complex right now. We finally got past all that business in Lapland and it seems like a whole new problem has cropped up. Right now we're not even sure who is who or what's even going on, and I realize that's pretty stressful.

So, I was just wondering if anyone would be up for doing something to take the edge off together. I'm not saying we let our guards down or anything, and I know any of those doubles of us would be able to see this, but I don't think there's any harm in talking about things that help us relax, right?

It's funny, you know. I've been told I'm physically incapable of relaxing more than once, so I can imagine how weird this must feel coming from me. Buuut... I think it'd be helpful all the same. Even if we just talk about the small things, I think it'd be pretty helpful.

[The video flickers to life, and it shows Rakka's face. She appears to be in Neuschwanstein. An odd sort of trend for people on the network recently, making posts while at the castle grounds. It was likely to not raise any particular warning signs, unless you know what this coincidence probably means.

Rakka brushed some hair from her face. It didn't help to improve her fairly disheveled look at all, and in fact might have made it worse. All in all, she didn't seem to be happy, or even smiling. Hey, was that a bruise?

Hey, it's Rakka. [There just wasn't as much energy in her tone as usual.] It seems like everyone around here's been losing their minds. Apparently it means that there's clones of all of us running around... but, maybe it just means that things are getting even worse. In a way, that would make sense, right?

[But, honestly, she wasn't sure what was happening. She'd been thinking about what Emi had said to her, about her apparently showing the vampire some kindness. She wouldn't lie about that, would she...? What would she even have to gain, except for a moment's confusion on the Haibane's part which could be a little funny for someone else...]

Dammit... [She whispered with a sigh, expression quickly turning frustrated.] I don't fucking know. It's not like anything in this world makes any sense anyways. It doesn't even matter, does it? [A question that seems to bother her.] I'm trying really hard to figure that out... but I can't.

[And she kills the feed.]

[Emi appears on the network again in a video, with of course the usual bearing about her, but looking a bit concerned over recent entries on the Network this week. They had barely dealt with the trouble in Lapland and barely a week after they all get home, something else starts to kick off. She's seen the... other her's Network log, though. As soon as she can get a hold of the original, powered Numbered she can trust, she's going to tell them to get over to Germany and keep her doppelgänger safe.]

It appears there's copies of us running around now. Normally I would have thought this impossible, but there's nothing about us that isn't impossible, is there?

If nothing's done we will be getting more trouble from non-Numbered soon, given the way some of these copies, if they really are copies, are behaving. I don't have to tell everyone that they need to be stopped quickly, yes?

[audio (open) | Las Vegas, Adamas family hotel room | 2/8, afternoon]
[It's been a week since that trip to the hospital; Winter isn't feeling quite up to snuff yet, but it's enough to be conscious and functional. April had gotten some good and proper medicine in her (and raised enough hell to make her actually take it, for once, between herself and Lily), and she feels... a little floaty, if quite a bit better than before. Still, she's trying her best to be upbeat, even if she knows she's probably not doing good things for Lily just by virtue of being stuck here in the first place. April's fussing over her when she got off shift didn't help matters, either. She's wondering what to do with herself today; she's spent a lot of time reading, talking to Lily, and assuring her mother that she wasn't doing this on purpose. Eventually, she recognizes that a week of radio silence probably isn't a good thing, and she picks up her phone, dialing her number but not clicking the video on. Her voice is softer than usual, a little scratchy, and she sounds a little spacey, but that's probably the painkillers talking.]

Hi, everyone... sorry I was gone so long. I got hurt in our little rescue attempt a week ago, and I've been recovering for the last few days. I just wanted to check in... I should know better than to just disappear for days at a time. [People worried. Of course, she wasn't going to say that on the network.] I've been kind of out of it, so this is the first time I've felt good enough to talk to people. Does... anyone have news on how everything ended in Lapland?

...I guess part of why I'm posting is because I'm a little disappointed, too. I'd hoped it would be a simple in and out thing, but I almost got killed. This keeps happening, where we end up getting hurt over little things, and we have to keep running around the world to solve all kinds of little problems... it just feels like we do so much, and nobody ever notices. Nobody ever compliments us on the things we do right, even as they slam us and laugh at us for the things we do wrong. We get hurt, and it's like we had it coming. It's... hard to feel good about all this, sometimes, when it feels like so much is against us. I just want to live my life in peace, with the person I love, but it's not that easy anymore. It's never that easy. And it's... kind of frustrating. I feel so wrung out...

Sorry. I don't mean to be so depressing. I just need a little time to recharge, and I'll be back, good as new. So I guess I just want to ask everyone not to worry about me. Give me a little bit longer, and I'll be ready for anything, just like always. And if anyone needs someone to talk to, I'm always here.

[She picks up her phone, thumbs the end call button, and doesn't quite get it the first time; setting it down on the bed, she lets her arm rest against her forehead, sighing heavily. There's a pause, before her voice changes slightly, and she starts to sing softly, clearly something she picked up on the radio.] A hero of war... is that what they see? Just medals and scars, so damned proud of me...

[The sound shifts as she picks her phone back up to check something, and she squeaks quietly before she cuts the feed properly.]

All three remain in the background once they enter an expensive looking meeting room on the top floor of the hotel. The Secretary is already there, together with a middle-aged woman, greets them and explains that they are waiting for one more person before they can begin. He then proceeds to ask them about the going-ons, both in general and a bit more personally. He expresses his regret for out of hand the whole situation has become, yet "...I trust in General Terrence Miller to keep the situation stable and safe from now, and we hope that the city's well-being can be handed back into the hands of a restructured police force in January. I am told that it has been a bit difficult to hire policemen and -women from other cities to come here, but that they wish to replace a good number of officers before everything resumes as usual. When: Monday night, December 8th

An hour before the meeting, everyone who wants to make a stand against the mafia - violent and potentially ill advised though it might be - gathers in a nearby location to make final plans. Nick’s original idea of Xander moving a small number of people through shadows into the meeting to take out Albero is still technically in effect, but only for those who are planning on gunning straight for the mafia boss himself. Or those who want to help take him out specifically, even if not to deliver the final blow themselves.

Thorir’s provided weapons from his shop, for any network members who know how to use them. L’d agreed to handle the coordination of getting everyone in the building to take out as many of the mafia members as they could, and to hopefully confine the chaos inside.

Because once they’re in and fighting, it’s… probably going to be at least a little chaos.

But hopefully, by the end of the night, it’ll at least be done.

This is Nick. I don't know how many of you are still on here that know me, but I'm going to cut right to the chase here: I've been working undercover with the mafia for months, trying to get their secrets for the network. And now I finally have something useful.

There's going to be a meeting soon. Albero will be there, along with a large number of high ranking mafia members. I know when, and where, and I know that if we hit it, we stand a good chance of taking them out and making a serious dent in their operation.

I know some of you are going to say that violence isn't the answer. For anyone who wants to try another road, I have a number of recordings of the mafia making plans to frame network members, and of some of the kidnappings that have happened, as well as the location of where the mafia members are getting their modifications. I'll pass them off to someone who wants them, but not until just before the meeting. It's obviously going to blow my cover pretty badly.

I'm going to that meeting. I don't want to do it alone, because I want to make this hurt, and I can't do that by myself. I know I'm not the only one who's been affected by what they've done, and if we want to stop them, to make it so they can't do it to anyone else - this is the best chance we've got.

We need to take it.

Clearly, he's been awake all night, something he's been doing far too often lately, sitting curled in the middle of what appears to be a cleaned up but ancient school gymnasium's basketball court with his chin on his knees. A few feet away is a blue tarp hiding something sizable and lumpy.]

I know Albero's people are striking Espresso Yourself, early on the morning of Sunday, November 23, at 3:15 AM. They will be there to raze the building to the ground and they do not intend to take prisoners.

[He bites his lip, glancing away from the camera. The calmness he's affected since Anthony's death slips for a second, revealing something like fear. He swallows.]

I've been waiting for a pulse. I was hoping that maybe my other's experience and knowledge could help me, in this regard, but up to this point... it's been all quiet on that front.

[He rises slowly, moving towards the tarp and drawing it away from what it conceals. There are many pounds of dynamite stacked in the middle of his gym, along with several ominous looking canisters.]

I have dynamite and nitroglycerin. I think...

[He takes a deep, shuddering breath.]

I know we can kill a lot of them. Part of me really wants to, and I can't be the only one. But I know... I know that's not what we're fighting for, a criminal record of our own and another reason to be driven out of this city. So...

[He sits again, hard, on the floor, eyes and posture conveying a distinctly dazed quality.]

I think maybe it would be better to use this information to get the FBI on this and catch them in the act, with no blood shed. I'm prepared for both of these scenarios, but honestly... I don't know what's right. I'm so tired. I trust all of you, so... please help me make the right decision.

EDIT: I've been informed that Nick knows about another upcoming opportunity, a chance to hit the Mafia where it hurts. There's to be a meeting of higher-ups in the near future; further details are forthcoming.

Hello, everyone. I realize I've been mostly quiet this past month, but I've had a lot to think about.

As you might... As you might know, my brother, Neil Dylandy, was killed during the attack of that monster in Vegas. He died, protecting both myself and a friend of ours, a-and I wouldn't be here today if not for him.

[a pause of at least seven seconds follows, through which Amy can likely be heard, sounding like she's trying to hold back tears]

I'm not the only one dealing with something like this right now. We've lost others. People we won't get back. That's why I felt like it was time I spoke up. My brother wouldn't want me to throw away the chance I've been given... to realize my dreams, and do my best to survive all of this.

I've been angry. So angry. I thought that maybe if neither of us hadn't become Numbered, he'd still be alive. And then I realize I wouldn't have been able to get to know him better like I did, and wonder if that's selfish of me. But I... I don't want to live like that. I know Neil would be angry at me for feeling that way.

You've all helped me grow in the short time I've been a Numbered. I used to be so full of myself, and I only cared about what I wanted to do. I'm only starting to make friends right now, but I don't want to lose what I've gained. I want to be a part of this... not for Neil's sake, but for my own.

Don't give up. Not for the sake of the people we've lost, but... for ourselves. That's all Neil would want me to do, I think. I'm n-not... I'm not going to be quiet anymore.

[and the last sound before the audio cuts out is a long, weary sigh... like saying this took everything she had for the time being]

[Notably, it's the first time L's put his face on the Network. It's composed and deliberate; he looks into the camera with a cold gaze that never falters or glances aside even for a moment as he speaks. His voice is similarly frigid, tone flat and emotionless.]

I'm sure many of you know this already, but Anthony Janvier was gunned down on Friday. He was at work, and it was a barbaric act of mob violence scarcely befitting such a gentle soul. He was brave and kind to his last moment, and I don't think I only speak for myself when I say I have lost a friend.

[He hasn't blinked yet; that stare could burn holes in liars and killers. It's a dare, a challenge to acknowledge futility and look away first.]

I'm not sentimental, or Catholic. Anthony was both. His funeral is tomorrow morning, because that's what people do: we mourn, we remember, and we mend. I understand that there are some who intend to picket the funeral; if you're afraid, don't bother coming, but if you're not... it's Friday, 10 AM at the Sacred Heart Cathedral.

[Saretha appears, looking calm as ever. There is something a bit different about her expression, however. A type of concern that is unexpected from her - any at all, and it is genuine. Whether you are the sort of person to pick up on that, however... well. That is another matter.]

Greetings. I trust most of you are rested from both the recent battle in Las Vegas and our unexpected travel plans.

With the new barrier area open to us, that provides us many new opportunities, and as many threats. I am sure most of you don't have to be told that, but... it is good, for the time being, that we have a place in which we can act from without being potentially gunned at, for now.

On that topic... Albero. The mafia. Clearly, this has to stop. I needn't say that, either. However...

As it stands, we cannot expect the authorities to handle this in our stead. Action must be taken, but... I know since the attacks started in the summer, a number of us have advocated drastic means towards combating them.

Such a thing would be nothing short of suicide for the whole lot of us. No matter how many mafia grunts are killed, even if you're able to lop the head off the snake, more will take their place. Attacks will be twisted against us, just as Albero now twists the media in Locke City to portray us as monsters, vigilantes, and things which people need to be protected against.

Do not give him and his allies even further ammunition, because that is all directed violence against them will cause. It will make it that much harder for us to attain any sort of legitimacy in the public eye, near impossible if dead bodies start turning up with our names and faces attached to them on the nightly news.

We can, however, still fight him. We have vast and powerful tools at our disposal that make us even more dangerous to him than simple brute force. We have people with powers good for more than just killing. We have this Network, which has been utilized against us by him, and... I say it is high time we took its usefulness back in that regard. The ability to communicate in this manner is invaluable, and something he cannot hope to replicate. If anything, I would be shocked if he was not afraid of it.

If we can root out evidence of his connections or crimes, any means of discrediting him in the public eye... then, and only then, can we truly overcome all he is setting against us, which goes beyond even the violence and the crimes against us.

Otherwise, all we continue to do is play into what he wants, and come out looking like the villains he claims us to be.

I will henceforth be putting whatever resources I can into this endeavor. If you wish to lend assistance, by all means - I am seeking your hands towards that end.

[A few days after this incident at Locke High School, a news story breaks during primetime on a popular local station. And gets snapped up quickly, so anyone who misses the initial story might see it (or similar broadcasts) online, on other news stations, in print news, and even a few tabloids. And since it concerns the numbered, it will likely even get some attention in Vegas.]

Earlier this week, a local high school teacher was confronted with evidence that she was part of the organization that calls themselves the 'Numbered'. Her reaction - recorded by an onlooker - has brought new urgency to the questions we've already been asking. Are these people safe? Stable? How many of them are working among us and our children undetected?

[They play the scene, recorded by what is almost certainly a smartphone camera, with a few appropriate comments from the spectators - bleeped out expletives, mostly, although one voice wails "my locker!" at a certain point.]

No one was reported injured during this incident, partially due to the brave efforts of students Daniel Fenton and Robyn Lyre in distracting and restraining the agitated and destructive former faculty member. Police arrived quickly on the scene, but the men shown escorting her out are none other than the deputy superintendent and the homicide supervisor. It's unclear how they're related to this case - neither position would normally respond to a call like this one - but they clearly seem to be familiar with the perpetrator. Could the numbered be influencing the local police? We've brought some experts in to discuss.

[The 'experts' are well-known anti-numbered advocates, and the discussion revolves mostly around how dangerous and volatile the numbered are. They emphasize what a threat numbered might be to children. Ideas about how they need to be tracked and locked up are bandied about. Danny and Robyn are talked up as heroes, and Nick and Karl as either co-conspirators or victims of manipulation. Later reports - especially the tabloids - take these rumors and run with them. The teens are celebrated, and Nick and Karl are accused of sleeping with the Numbered - and each other - more than once, labelled as obvious sympathizers.]

Network Post, video

[Before the first broadcast is even finished, Sheila opens the network. To video, because why not. It can't get any worse. Can it? She's in sweats and has her head buried in her hands at her kitchen table.]

Yes. That's me.

What they didn't say is that I was fired on suspicion of being numbered, right before the video starts.

[There's this girl again, with her far too young, but steady voice.]

Robyn is my friend. When the message first started, I wanted to run to save her.

Until Albero made the promise.

I'm not saying fear him. I'm not saying we take his deal to leave town. All I care about is Robyn right now, the rest will come later.

The one who has the best chance of getting Robyn out of there unscathed is Cure Phantom and anyone with his power set. However, it's also known that the mob knows the powers that would do it and if they have even an inkling of belief he will be sneaky, they likely have a back up plan for it.

But this is the thing: Albero is a business man. He's not just some psychopath off the street, he runs an organization, an effective organization. That requires intelligence and the ability to manipulate.

Robyn is meant to manipulate us, but it's to manipulate us to his advantage. If we rush in and get her killed, that is a hit to our morale. A 'look, you tried OH so hard, and what do you get? A dead girl.' I know that won't break some, but it will break others, and that means the numbers who would go against him are down.

If no one rushes in, Robyn will not be hurt. If he hurts Robyn once we listen to him, then he's the only one at fault. Anyone who cares about Robyn, to anyone who cares about innocents, to anyone who just hates people doing what he does, will be against him, and with a personal vendetta. He loses if he breaks his promise. All he has to gain in killing Robyn is one dead Numbered who doesn't even have the truly terrifying powers.

If Robyn is let go, then there is a chance people will believe him. People will leave without thinking this is some trap to weed us out, that they'll be safe if they're gone. He wants this because if even some take this deal, that still means numbers are down, and he's winning. There is also the possibility he could find out unknown Numbered because they'll sure to tend to her, so be careful when you do go visit Robyn.

In the game of manipulation, you need the other side to be confident to trust you to act a certain way. Which means keeping your word until you can pull off a decisive win. He can't right now, so he is telling the truth.

The best chance Robyn has to get out relatively okay is to wait. Not because of fear, but because it's what's best for HER, and because it puts us in the best position to deal with him AFTER she's safe.

If anyone tries to free Robyn, you will have crossed me.

Albero has reason to keep his promise right now, and he doesn't like people that cross his path, you should have realized that by now. Useless interference might not only cause her harm but kill her and harm all of us. Let Albero think that we're considering it. It will buy all of us time.

[Robyn had just wanted to go spend some time with her aunt, they were going to get ice cream and have a grand old time. The last thing she expected or wanted to have was a group of mafia goons suddenly swarm her on the street and pull her into a black van that had just swerved up to the curb. The thugs had come, swept Robyn up and had disappeared just as fast as they come. She tried her best to fend them off but well... She was a sixteen year old girl with the power to summon rose petals randomly and run kind of fast. She wasn't prepared or capable or defending herself from something like this.

Over twenty four hours had passed since that happened. Of course, Robyn had no idea what time it was, she had completely lost track of time a few hours in. She hadn't even heard much from the thugs after they brought to god knows where. When they arrived they had sat her down in a chair, tied, gagged and blindfolded her only to back off and leave her without another or word or an explanation as to why they were doing this. She could hear them speaking in hushed tones, but none of them would answer her muffled cries.

So she did the only things she could: she squirmed and tried to break free to no avail, she screamed, she cried, she slept a little but not much. She was too terrified to do that for very long.

Eventually Someone did approach her. Told her that they'd let her go if she helped them deliver a message. ...Robyn agreed. They untied her hands, removed the gag and blindfold and shortly after they gave her a laptop. It didn't take her long after that to connect to the network.

[ As soon as he's sure that Robyn seems to have connected to the mystery numbers network, a man steps forward. Anyone who has ever Googled him should recognise him, since he's pretty distinctive-looking, but he's going to introduce himself for the benefit of people who haven't. What a lovely man. ]

Well, hello. Assuming my friend here is telling the truth and you can all see me - and she better be -

[ He places a hand on Robyn's head. It's an unmistakably threatening gesture. Robyn flinches at the touch, but she's not in a position to stop him. ]

- then I assume you all know who I am. Albero. Mr. Albero. And I have a proposal for your, ah... collective.

[ He grins, lowering his shades just enough to peer over the top of them. ]

Get out of my city. You're in the way. Pack your freak bags and get the hell out. You do that, and I won't come after you. The unpleasantness will stop. You stay here? Me and the family keep having our fun. And believe me, my unsavoury friends, we have been having a lot of fun with this. You're great entertainment! Bravo. But all good things must come to an end, huh?

[ He ruffles Robyn's hair, still grinning in an incredibly unpleasant manner. Fresh tears well up in her eyes. ]

To prove I can keep my promises, I'll be letting my new friend here go home by the end of the day. As long as nobody tries anything stupid, anyhow. Sounds good, right, princess?

[Robyn whimpers and looks away, her eyes fixed on the ground as tears stream down her cheeks.]

[ He crouches so that he's at Robyn's level, still smiling into the camera as he takes is hand from her head and instead grips her shoulder. Rather too hard, unfortunately - hopefully she doesn't bruise easily. ]

[Robyn bit her lip and shook her head frantically. She tried to stop herself from making a sound, but despite her efforts she let out a pained groan.]

I suggest you all consider my offer. [And to Robyn:] End it.

[Robyn's arms shook and she slowly raised trembling hands to the laptop again, her fingers fumbled on the keyboard but she didn't actually shut down her connection to the network. Albero stepped away from the computer to speak to a few of the men that had been holding Robyn over the last day, leaving her alone with the network open for now. Does anyone want to say hi?]

[Raye being in a sour mood on one of these network posts of hers isn't a rare sight by any stretch of the imagination, but this time she's not ranting or raving or looking even particularly grumpy, but she's definitely not happy as she stands out in the street, leaning against a wall. She definitely doesn't look good though and when she speaks up at least there's almost a tremor in her voice.]

Hey. So, uh, I was doing pretty good about keeping stuff under wraps around home and all but... I guess somebody picked up what I looked like when I was grabbing that teleporter thing. So, that... kinda just blew up.

[She blows out a breath and rubs the back of her arm across her eyes, shaking her head and growling a bit.]

Look, fuck the details but does anybody out there have a couch or something? Me and Senketsu are gonna need a place to crash for--

-- for awhile.

Who: Randolph Lyall, a couple reporters for the local news station, and anyone who replied with interest here.
When: August 19, on the evening news
Where: On the television! More specifically, in a studio somewhere in Locke.
What: Some hopefully-positive publicity for the Numbered

The special segment on the news at 7 sets the scene in one of its side news offices meant for local coverage. There are some pretty strange people seated around a long desk-like table... and some not very strange people, too. Some of them look like anyone you'd see walking down the street, and some of them look like something you'd see out of a comic book or a movie.

The reporter introduces them all as members of that mysterious group of the "specially gifted" who helped the city against the giant snake several months before and who have had very little to say in the meantime, and it starts off on a generally positive note, with each of the reincarnates involved introducing themselves and giving a short statement about their experiences. It then turns to questions, mostly from the reporters, but with a segment at the end for questions tweeted in by viewers. One of the three reporters seems positive on the whole-- and familiar with Julien in particular-- while another is fairly neutral and a third seems to want to steer things into more negative territory.

The segment only lasts an hour, so it's not really long enough for much in-depth questioning, but the anchor at the end says that further interest might bring their illusive guests back again in the future!

((mostly closed to people who expressed interest (or would express interest) on Lyall's request for volunteers earlier, but if anyone wants to submit viewer questions, there's a comment for that at the end! :3 ))

Alright, so I figure I might as well spill the beans. Why else would I even have the beans in the first place, right? [He tries a cocky grin, but it doesn't look very cocky, and it doesn't stick for very long before it falls back to a slightly nervous expression.]

I'm pretty low down in the Keys, so I don't get to find out much, but this must be big enough that it got all the way down the chain. I've started hearing stuff about Vincent Albero planning to take us on himself. Like, the head honcho himself. I don't know what he's planning or how he's gonna do it, but I can try and find out.

For now, until I dig up any better dirt on this, this is your first warning.

Randall again. I know there are probably many rather more pressing problems, right now-- such as the machine I hear we've commandeered, Thunder Corp's potential retaliation, the mob, that cult... but there's also apparently been a lot of talk on television and online about how horrible we are and how we're secretly trying to run the country.

[And Lyall can't do a bloody thing about Thunder Corp or the mob or a cult, especially while getting prepped for school to start soon... but he's hoping maybe he can help a little with this.]

I know someone was talking about attempting to make corrections when things got out wrong, like that, but I was thinking that perhaps having more of us to consult might make that easier. As in, I was considering asking for volunteers to go public together. Including myself, of course-- I simply don't think trying to do it alone would be wise. I'd rather not present the idea that I'm an attention-monger, or something.

[Or make himself a sole target.]

There's certainly the question of just how forthcoming to be-- I tend to favor more, rather than less, or people will undoubtedly learn there's more to know, and assume we are hiding even worse. But that would be up to each individual. Either way, I thought I'd pose the question, if anyone here is particularly interested in going public, and trying to equally publically correct some of those rumors. I certainly don't have any power to take over the country with.

[That last comes out dry, because he's hard-pressed to think of anything that "being a werewolf" would do for him, in politics. ... nevermind that he's fairly sure being one automatically gave you rank in whatever England his other fellow comes from. That's not here.]

We've spent a long time in hiding, so I'll understand if I don't have many takers, but I am hoping for a few....
