[Jamie’s getting older now, because his middle school is in a safe part of town and because his mother’s apartment isn’t either he’s welcome to ride public from school to home on certain days. Those days being the ones his mother had to work late…
Ever since it happened all he could think about is the echo, no matter how badly Jamie tired to push it out of his mind the memory just wouldn’t leave. It terrified him, what if this time he doesn’t have his mom to rescue him? There’s also the whole thing around these numbers.. and the tiny memories he’s been reliving almost through eyes that feel so much like his own.. The world he sees isn’t the same, however, and neither is the person, there are no glass frames or breathing issues behind those similar eyes.
A promise was also unforgotten, one concerning this number he couldn’t forget… to write it down on a piece of paper to prove some kind of point.. would it? What would it prove..? Jamie only has homework with him paper wise, and a notebook for humanities. However, he always has his 3DS on him. It seems stupid at the time and it’ll seem stupid tomorrow but Jamie writes his number over the touchpad of his three dimensional duel screen in the application swapnote.. the worlds read--

”How do you stop having echos?”
--As if that will make them stop or as if anyone can hear him from his quiet set on the bus. What he doesn’t know is that others can hear him and soon replies will be coming in through his 3DS screen. You never know in Locke City if the person next to you is part of the network either. Hey, he added a bunch of people on his game, is ‘Your Friend Jamie Near By!’?]

The only way to stop it for sure is to leave Locke forever.
[ Or die. But tbh Ellie thinks Jamie is even younger than he actually is, so she's not going to bring that up. Herp. ]
You can minimise them by not interacting with people that have triggered them, I suppose.
And avoid stargazing, in case we get lights in the sky again. :ヘp
swapnote;
That smilie.. are you the penguin lady? I would but my mom really needs this job in Locke and I'm not sure she'll leave or believe me.. There are kids in my school that have them too and she doesn't have the time to homeschool me..

[His voice is gentle, as it isn't the best news. Benjamin's having trouble coming to terms with it himself, and he's a grown man. He can only imagine the difficulty for one much younger.]

[He's only had two, or at least he can assume, maybe three, and the most current one did a number on his health. He can't tell his mother this, she won't believe him or worst she'd think something was super wrong with him..]

[Because someone has to complete what Ellie chickens out of. Not only because she has a better idea of how old Jamie is. Also because she actually doesn't care about his sensibilities - at his age, she has been living on the streets permanently for a year. Why extend a grace that she never received herself to others?]
swapnote;
[Mind you his drawing skills aren't that great, bear with this kid. He wouldn't expect anyone to tell him to die.. he's already feeling better low. Jamie can take assholes but comments like that make this bus ride feel neverending. It's not like the person on the other end can see him..it's one plus.]

As he's glancing surreptitiously around at his fellow passengers, his eyes fall upon a face that's almost familiar in the next seat over. He's a little younger, and the glasses make his face look a little different, but the likeness is still there. Alan could almost pass it off as coincidence, but lately nothing in his life seems to be a coincidence. Especially when it comes to people he remembers getting into fights with.
He probably hasn't stared enough to seem like a total creep yet, but he can't stand the curiosity. Which is why after a moment of hesitation he leans across to tap the kid on the shoulder.]
Hey, this might seem like a weird question, but... your name isn't Jean, is it?
action;
....It's Jam-..mie.. [He knows better than to give his name and yet.. Jean sounds so familiar. It's a cool name too, he wouldn't have minded being given it. O-Oh no, it's not another echo is it? They can't all be bad, right? Nonetheless his look is fixed directly on Alan, giving him a clear view of what's behind those glasses.]

[In neat, scripted handwriting:] Unless you leave town, there's pretty much nothing you can do to be sure they won't happen again.

[It's hard to mess on his phone these days, with his hands like that, so he's just kind of scrolling through the network with one finger when he sees the post and Bertholdt sighs a little. Poor kid.... It had to be a kid, he thought. Like... wait, that looked sort of like the screen to the thing Ryan had bought for them, when that kid had--]
[At random, he looks away from the post and finds that... He's sitting right next to Jamie on the bus. Coincidence? Probably. Still, he just manages to look away and hope the kid doesn't think he was staring at him. That's definitely the Network up on his 3DS though...]
action;
Now he's worried.. he's not sure who to ask but he can't stand on this bus forever, he looks worried and lost as well as exhausted from the network post. It's been a hard week and for what most kids call their last halloween it had been a trip to hell and back. Now to be lost in a city he doesn't know with the fear of more than one thing out to get him..] U-umm...
[He's shy, nothing like the voice behind typed out words, he should ask someone, anyone where his stop is. He just has to hope they aren't looking to kidnap him or something worse..Jamie's a small town boy with small town stories of big cities like these and the people the lurk within them.] Do you know where my stop would be? I live on Doxie Avenue..

You can't. Unless you leave, but I've heard most people end up getting drawn back anyway.
Your best bet is to stay safe and maybe avoid the network... but then you can't really stay safe if you stay off it, either.
Sorry... about the other day, too.

--i don't know.[ She bites her lip as she writes. No one she's talked to seems happy about these echoes, but she chalked that up to Karson's friends being sour. Now she has to really think if she really wants to continue down this path. Or if she has a choice. May as well ask that too. ]

ah- no.. I hope to figure it out but something tells me I'm only going to find out if I risk having more. Have you had any echos? [They had to have if they are on the network, right? That's how it works or something of that nature. Jamie's not an expert nor does he really want to be here..]
