[Audrey gets down to business to begin with.]

I've booked a party room at a local arcade near the pizzeria at [address and street does here] for Sunday. We're booked under the guise of a gaming club so if you have trouble finding the reserved room towards the back of the arcade, the attendants there ought to know it as simply an as-yet unnamed gaming club meeting.

A webcam feed over the network should be available for those who wish to view the meeting but are unable or unwilling to attend.

Likewise given this guise, I would like to learn more about gaming in general. I have planned for this to be my primary 'reason' for having set up this 'club' if asked by others. Anyone who attends is welcome to likewise say they are attending for such purposes, as well as recreational ones.

[Following this bit of surefooted and confident talk, the teen clears her throat and looks aside. The mood fades from that confidence to something more reticent.]

If I may address something more personal...

[She shifts in her seat now.]

I've remembered something that doesn't place me in the best of lights, I'm afraid. Or... ah, the other me. Or the me I was before. I'm not certain how to address her yet. Someone told me to accept that was who I was and isn't who I am now. The feelings however...

[And Audrey sort of trails off lamely there, lips pressing together.]

Unpleasant memories are different when they involve someone other than yourself as well.

Given that some of the changes that have been taking place are less obvious than others, a couple of us were discussing ways of testing the limits of our reflexes - preferably without needing anyone else in close proximity.

[Remember that time Hajime got jumpy and nearly took Toshi's arm off on the werewolf hunt? Yeah. Good times.]

I'm still checking customer reviews and pricing, but we're looking at skeet shooters. If anyone else suspects their agility may have been boosted into superhuman range and wants to test it, let me know. (If you want to chip in to whatever a workable shooter is going to cost us, even better.)

Overall, however: I suspect most of us have had the sense to at least begin considering the limits of what we're capable of.
[Or at least, he really wants to think everyone does.] But I believe it's something that we need to think seriously about. Our casualty count has been remarkably low so far, compared to how things could have gone, but luck is not something we should rely on in the future.

[ she's used the marker from her dry erase board to write her numbers on the surface of a very large mirror, leaning against the wall of her bedroom, right across the foot of her bed. a few wayward clothes hang on one of the mirror's edges. it's evening, and the only source of light comes from a lamp on the bedstand, casting a warm glow on the room.

sonya herself is sitting on the floor in front of the mirror, cross-legged, in an oversized sleeping shirt. her long, brown hair has been tamed in a braid dangling over her shoulder. there's an open notepad and a pen resting beside her. the 'video' begins as soon as she finishes writing the last number, so it shows her leaning back, then laying her arm on her thigh. ]

Of note are that she's wearing a tank-top, and her arms are completely human. She has even painted little silver gears on her black nail polish, because... because. She is giving the camera a total "mom if you put this on facebook I'll gut you" look. Her eyes are brown, and she has AMAZINGLY thick glasses, like, cokebottle thick. Just putting these pictures up to confirm that yes, if you leave the city, your physical echoes (that's what I'm calling them now) go away when you get far enough outside the city. It seems like you have to leave the major metropolitan area/suburbs first. Other bits... for me, anyway, the more unpleasant physical effects didn't happen a second time, it was sort of... there, and then not. And then there again. Also of note, I left myself a note to "practice my physical dexterity" at home and I actually followed it, and even though I didn't have these, I AM a bit better at them, as evidenced by typing with fewer typos. They still shake and I have to type more slowly, though.

Other stuff:

> Leave yourself vague notes. You won't believe yourself with any of the weirdness, but I at least had the presence of mind to tell myself to wear long sleeves on the way back, no matter how hot it was. My excuse to myself was that BoltBus has a bad habit of cranking up the AC, but I listened to myself anyway, which is good because suddenly having robot arms on a bus ride would have raised a lot of questions.
> despite all that I forgot my glasses, and luckily there was an old pair at home but god they were dorky fml
> if you go down to DC this year folklife was great uhhh but i guess you only have one more day to enjoy it?? oops

This was unprecedented. All of Miranda's IT experience told her it was impossible.

And yet, here it is. Now what could be so important to someone that it would be hidden like this...

Sadly, to her it appeared to be some sort of social network. ...okay, a kind of morbid social network, judging from some of the more recent posts. Still, she feels like it deserves some credit.]

[She had been relaxing at home, a cup of green tea in one hand and a laptop propped in front of her when the numbers seemed to come full force at her again. It was easy to type them out, a quick string on her screen--and it changed things.

The first few things she sees are just messages. Questions and answers about these numbers from people she's never met. But she presses past it. There's something about a mine and wills and suddenly Leola is not sure what she's stumbled into.

Her typing is hesitant at first.
]

Did I stumble into a forum? I suppose I could have picked up the numbers from one of my students and this is an elaborate joke. A marketing campaign for a movie maybe? It's clever though I'm not sure what I'm supposed to get from this. A movie about people trapped in mines or something? Isn't that a little off? Too soon?

And really subliminal messaging was proven to be impossible despite what fiction leads you to believe. So I'm not sure how I came by these numbers. Perhaps you could enlighten me. Or I suppose I could just ignore whatever this is.

Classes are out for the summer, I think I'd rather read than get sucked into some silly forum goose chase.

Chris is doing a video post, which is weird, because she never does that. It's pretty dark in her room, actually -- you can barely make out behind her a few of her prototype hand-made drones (which she uses for home-testing avionics software and AI) and more half-finished model planes than anyone should own.

The elephant (s) in the room of course are those arms, which are now fully visible: metal from the shoulder down, white to the elbow and then dark blue to the fingers. Between the metal plates, there's the faint glow of what looks like violet circuitry. Her eyes also seem very slightly brighter than they were before, the irises just a little bigger.

Can't type well yet. Not used to the arms. They also, um, shake, and hurt. I think they are low on power, I don't have an energon source,, whatever energon is, because honestly I have no idea except that I'd need it to fuel these?

Sorry, I hate... hate doing posts where you can hear my voice. I hate my voice, did you know that? Haha.

[She starts wringing her hands, still not really looking at the camera, and then stops when she accidentally pulls her left thumb out, basically starting to cause her arm to transform slightly into a different configuration. She stops, stares, and then gently pushes it back where it belongs.]

Which is funny, right, because I won't fucking shut up in real life, most of the time? But when I was a kid I hated the sound of my own voice and I think it's the audio recording thing, in that when I hear it recorded it makes it worse, so I don't like having it exist in a space where I can hear it...

...

That's not the point of this post, I don't know what the hell I'm doing. Um.

[She runs her hands through her hair, then clasps her hands and rests her chin on them, elbows on the desk, finally facing the camera, though not looking into it.]

I'm sure several of you were privvy to the 'negotiations' thread. Forgive me, I haven't gone over the network as I had previously. I've... been avoiding it, to be honest.

[A vague bit of guilt rises on her features. She hated this number, hated this network, hated what it was doing to her life.
... But she didn't hate the people on here. They weren't asking for any of this any more than she was. They all deserved better.

She just jumps straight in after a moment of conflict.]

These entities, whatever they are, believe we are a mass of individuals unconnected. If this is what they are expecting then, uniting together might be some brief surprise to them.

[Her expression turns serious, guilt easing away. For the briefest of moments, she's almost regal in her air.]

I would like to organize a 'collective', if you will, among those among the numbered - those on this network. Through it we will be able to share information with one another as well as offering support in both physical and emotional senses.

I am not looking to play leader. I am not looking to craft troops. What I wish for is a collective gathering of people cooperating with each other and working for each other to stand against this invasion and to ultimately save each other as well.

[She pauses there and the feeling of a moment before evaporates like a mist. She smiles faintly and nods.]

I will be planning a gathering then for anyone who expresses interest at a currently undisclosed time in the future. Please contact me over the network, private messages or through my phone [here she gives her cellphone number without hesitation - she's tired of hiding].

Thank you.

There was something about families being targeted too, right? Who else's families have had trouble? I should probably warn-- [There's a minor commotion in another room and Souji look up quickly, expression becoming aggravated.] Speak of the fucking devil. [He hits something on the computer and the screen goes off, but the audio is still heard clearly.]

Not an IC cut. Mitsu and Souji's conversation. ) [The rest of the conversation is muffled and there's the sound of the door slamming. Then the coughing begins.

It's a terrible, wet coughing that goes on for minutes, breathing difficult, harsh, and getting louder as Souji makes his way back to the computer and sits down again. Eventually the coughing subsides and the video is brought back on as Souji wipes his mouth, the side of his hand slightly red as he pulls it away-- or is it a trick of the light?

If he noticed the audio was on, he says nothing. His eyes look strange, sharp and empty

[ She's just come in on a flight from the opposite coast, so she's a bit worn out for her usual video posts. As such for now she's simply writing something up for the network. It seems that the act of writing in of itself is helping her sort her thoughts, for which she's immeasurably grateful. There's just been so much going on. ]

This is Elizabeth Bishop.

My friends and allies, you may have noticed a marked absence from me over the course of the past week. I finished my exams and as customary for me after every quarter, went to spend a week with my father at home. Upon doing this, I have discovered something troubling.

When I arrived at home and for the entirety of the week I spent there, I remembered nothing of the things that have happened here. Not once did I think about the network or my access code to it. I spared no time recalling the werewolves or the statues, and at no point did I think about the relationships I've forged with people through this crisis.

In fact, I distinctly remember my father asking me what happened to my hair. We Skype once a week, and I'd told him that I decided to dye it pink. But I didn't have any idea what he was talking about. I told him not to be silly, and he told me he would never understand today's teenagers.

My hair was blonde again that entire week.

In many ways, I do not even think I was myself.

In fact, it was not until my plane touched down again at the airport here that I felt that there was something markedly amiss about how I'd spent my last week.

I do not know what to make of this, but I implore anyone intending to travel outside the city to do so with great caution. We are helpless without the knowledge we've gained. Those who do not realize they are in danger are the most at risk. I do not know the exact radius of how far it is safe to go due to the distance that I traveled, but it is not something that should be recklessly tested.

Please be careful.

The sheer amount of what we do not know far outweighs that which we do.

Casval, Jack; You will both call me and tell me what has happened in my absence or I will find you. And you will be honest with me, or I will find you. Am I understood? Good.

Brendan, I'd like to discuss matters with you if you have the time. Did your exams go well? Have you been eating? No, don't answer that. I'll call your sister.

Banagher, if you have a moment free today or tomorrow, please also give me a call. Thank you.

If anyone at all has any questions or concerns, please feel absolutely free to bring them to me. I will do my best to help.

Thank you for your time.

[In the video one can see Leonhardt himself, he's relaxing at his desk in his office. The most impressive thing in the room is the fact that the walls have numerous swords and knives displayed. There are various types and ranges of condition. One can even spot a couple of Japanese style weapons among them. It's obvious the man is quite the collector of weapons looking at this. Though looking at his desk and the amount of odd tools and gadgets and the half put together tiny robot, it's not the only thing he does.]

I know I haven't met many here on the network, but I wished to make an offer to those who may have an interest. My name is Leonhardt, feel free to just call me Leon since most have trouble with the name.

I know some here have obtained swords, the skills to use one, or both. I also know that a sword in the hands of the untrained can be quite dangerous.

My offer is this. Since normal training classes may not suit for all of us here I would be willing to set up a special class for those on this network. That way you can also practice using any unique abilities you have learned as well. Since we'll have all levels it will be more of a club or group where lessons will be given and people can practice with each other as well, mostly informal to aid all in gaining experience and good technique.

We'll use the same place where my father teaches his private classes. I have gained permission to rent it out for a very nominal fee, I'll just ask for either a donation or bring some food or drink to share with the others. That way we'll have full use of all the equipment he has so it can be done as safely as possible. I'm my father's assistant instructor and just as qualified to teach as he is. If you do not have a weapon I will do what I can to arrange to get you one that suits any skills you have obtained.

I am not going to limit to any particular age, but if you are under 18 I do need to be aware of this because legally we do have to obtain parent or guardian permission and I have to get you some forms in advance to have them sign.

If you are interested let me know so I can provide a location and time. It will likely be a day on the weekends, more likely Sunday since my father has no classes then.

Is there any chance that we might negotiate for another week of relative peace before our enemies resume their efforts to eradicate us? Yes, I recognize that the chances are slim to nonexistent, but my capacity for higher reasoning seems to have vanished over the past few days.

On a more relevant note, I was toying with the idea of creating a survey that might give us a clearer picture of our numbers, age range, and so on— largely superficial data, in other words, that would not help to identify us individually but would help us to better organize ourselves. I have my doubts about whether a comprehensive database would be the best idea, but this seems a logical compromise. If I were to do this, would you be willing to participate? Suggestions for what to include would also be appreciated.

Lastly, we seem to be gaining newcomers daily. Many of you have already had this link handy to assist them, but I urge those of you who haven't to correct this. This lull in activity is likely the calm before the storm. We need to be prepared.

Well, this isn't anything like anything I've worked with before. What is this, some kind of private program? Doesn't really explain those numbers any, but at least it's something I get.

Well. Sort of.

Though I could really have done without whatever was doing that thing with the numbers in my head at 6am. I had JUST fallen asleep. Anyway, can anyone explain to me what exactly is going on? Is it one of those... I don't know, subliminal things? I'm pretty sure those aren't exactly possible, but then again, I'm no psychologist. Just your average minimum wage worker with a Bachelor's. This economy, am I right?

Anyway, I'd really appreciate it if someone would just tell me what's up with this thing. Otherwise, it's just gonna annoy me all night.

So has anyone actually gotten anything useful out of all of this? Or has it all been just one big, confusing mess that's more trouble than it's worth? It's not like this is making life better for anyone...

[Yeah, someone doesn't sound happy. And he'll say something else in some incomprehensible language. It's rather discordant, and it's full of sharp, short syllables. Definitely not a friendly language. If anyone were to understand the language of the immortals called Undead on Hajime's original world, they'd know he's just admitted to the network that his blood is green...but it's just going to sound like a garbled mess.]

"4/29 - Send finished presentation to Ayliff, 4/30 - meeting with board members" for example. Then one of the notes cuts off halfway through ("Speak with Profe") and there's nothing more for a while.

About an hour after the message first appears, Aeron finally adds onto it again. The handwriting is neat, just as it was previously, but now there's a certain slant to the words that convey a sense of irritation and impatience.]

Now that I've seemingly broadcasted my week's schedule to the whole of the city as well as established that this is not, in fact, a figment of my imagination brought about by countless hours of studying, would anyone care to explain? I assume, by the other entries on here, that people other than myself have found their new personal organizers mysteriously capable of receiving and transmitting messages.

But we're all tied into this somehow, whatever it is...so we should be supportive of each other, right? I'd like to help in some way, if you'll let me. [That being the caveat. Strider here.

There's trouble in the Dead District -- more than usual. Those who live there are leaving. I can't be sure how much truth there is to this, but they are --

-- they tell me they're afraid of werewolves. I don't recommend believing every rumor we hear simply because some things previously believed to be impossible have happened, but a man came to the clinic today with a bite that he claimed was from a werewolf.

What do the rest of you think of this?

I guess I didn't take anyone too seriously last time, but things are pretty bad, aren't they?

Some weird shit's been happening to me too. I don't even know what to do. I found a couple sites though that made me feel better. Thought I'd pass them along in case anyone else could use them. They're good if you feel like you're going to panic and stuff like that so. Here you go.

The Quiet Place.
The Nicest Place on the Internet
Bring Victory.

Hope these help you guys!

[ The video feed clicks on and comes into focus. The camera is just facing a blank wall; it appears to be sitting on someone's dining room table. Before long a young girl moves in front of the camera to address the viewers. She remains standing as she speaks, posture straight and shoulders pulled back, a confident tilt to her chin. She seems quite used to public speaking. ]

Excuse me, everyone! May I have your attention please?

My name is Elizabeth. Elizabeth Victoria Bishop. My father is Reginald Bishop of Bishop International. Some of you may know me as 'Lizzie.'

Now, these are very dark and uncertain times for us all. For reasons beyond our current understanding, we have all been unwillingly dragged into this predicament. If you are new and do not understand what I am going on about, please refer to the text portion of this post where I have linked what resources we presently have to offer you.

For the rest of us, I understand that we have no way to know what we are up against, and that uncertainty begets fear. I am here to tell you there is nothing wrong with being afraid. Even I am afraid. I am posting this video to show that while I am afraid, that fear will not stop me.

I am here for you. All of you. And everything is going to be okay. Because I know I am not alone. I have already met many brave individuals willing to put themselves at risk for the sake of us all. Men such as Dr. Aaron Strider and Captain Casval Mass. Like the admirable young men who have been willing to meet with me and put their faith in me. Like the people unafraid to speak up with their concerns, because they had the safety of us all at heart.

We are a group of remarkable people. Do not doubt this. I have seen it already. I've seen it in each and everyone one of you. We are in this together, and we will pull through for each other. I believe in that wholeheartedly.

For that reason, I am showing you my face. Giving you my name. I want you all to know me, and to know that you can rely on me.

Please take care of yourselves as well as each other. If you need any help at all, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will leave my e-mail, cell number, and network code at the bottom of this post.

Thank you so much for your time. I have a little more information that I've typed up for easier reference, so if you could give that a glance as well I would be immensely grateful.

newcomers here please! )

I know we've had putting together a database of everyone's experiences suggested, but whether or not we all agree with that, I think there's something else we should be doing, and that's getting together the short, bullet-point version of the important things we know - the police, Paul Ben, et cetera, maybe with any recordings on the network that corroborate it or links to wherever it was discussed in greater depth.

Expecting people to read back to get up to speed only works as long as there's not too much to go through. The longer this goes on
[and the more cats and datesim help his BFFs post, HE'S REALLY SORRY GUYS] the harder it's going to be for people to find what they need to know, and there are things I think we can agree that everyone needs to know as soon as they get here.

If we keep a list on the network, of things we've been discussing on the network anyway, then it's no greater security risk than anything else we've said here already is, and we can keep updating it with anything new. (Or I should say I can, since I realize that by proposing this I'm as good as volunteering myself.)

But I'm not going to assume I've caught everything, so I'd like some help making sure everything important gets in there.

- Not to trust the police. The Paul Ben video would go here, obviously.
- The statues. I know some people were looking into recording them, but do we have any actual footage or photos on the network that I may have missed, or only the drawing?
- The grues, even if we haven't seen any, in case they turn up again. Again, do we have any footage here? (Grues are the only name I've seen people give them, have I missed any others?)

If there's anything I've missed, please let me know.

Good morning, Mr. Lyall here.

[He's given up on code names, hiding his name, or otherwise pretending he's not him. He's already given his name out to too many people, and it's just too difficult to keep track of things.]

Has anyone else had a visit from a charming gentleman by the name of Detective Jason Sherman? If he shows up, I'd be wary, just as a heads up. He smells off the way some of the other police officers smell off and he asked questions about Paul.

Also, has anyone been keeping an eye on that statue in the dead district? I've been trying, but I only have so much free time, and I'd rather not be too obvious about it. I know someone mentioned the possibilities of cameras? Or we could set up some kind of schedule. It's the only place we can reliably watch without risking arrest, so I think we probably should.

And finally, on a less serious topic... has anyone lost a ferret? Or knows someone who has?

So...can I ask you all for a bit of...advice?

[No introductions, no 'how do you do's, straight to the point. Chizuru's got priorities right now.]

Say that you're surrounded by a group of really handsome classmates, and you can ask any of them to team up with you during a relay race, but...

[She pauses, and there's a faint sound of paper shuffling. Is she looking through a pamphlet? A magazine?]

...there's this one senior, and he doesn't really seem to care that you exist, but he's so perfect and you know he's...he's The One!!! How do I get his attention?!

[It's a good thing Kaoru isn't here yet...]

[So Sano has done a little bit of foraying into the network and...well.]

You know, some people may call what we're experiencing a sort of mass hysteria. I've never really been fond of that "disease" as it tends to go unresearched and instead falls under the category of Things That Have No Explanation.

I never thought I'd include myself in the hysteria, but here I am, regardless.

I've only glanced back at the network and I think I've seen the big current events, but if there's anything else urgent that I should know now that I'm here, I would appreciate being filled in. We may not know what we're going through, but the least I can do is conduct a little bit of research of my own. Who knows, maybe by putting our heads together we'll get a clue or two.

And this is completely unrelated, but I saw someone mention they had puppies they were giving away. I don't know when this was - like I said, I only glanced back - but if that person sees this and is still in need of a home for one of them...

[That was weird, talking to a network of supposed strangers, but they all must start somewhere.]
