Oh, no - and everything's back too -

( if voices can facepalm, it's probably doing it right now. but the frustrated, dismayed and disbelieving voice cuts off right away, followed by nothing but static.

several moments later ... )

Someone has to have figured this out by now, right? The disappearing and reappearing of memories upon leaving Locke. Though to be honest, this also feels so much like jet lag.

Maybe it is.

[So here's Fay looking somewhat sheepish in front of his computer, not quite sure how to share what he has in mind. Because just about everything sounds ridiculous.]

Sooo... Since some other people've been showing off their weird new talents and bodies and the like, I might as well... share, I guess. [He looks up at someone off-camera and winces.] You can... do it. Just be careful.

[For a moment, nothing happens. Then Fay's washed-out blue irises suddenly blossom into a vivid yellow, his pupils narrow into slits, and he lifts his hands with a curse as his nails elongate into razor-sharp claws the length of his hand.]

So apart from the total nail-disaster and the weird eye thing, I think I might be faster than I was before. Maybe. And whatever did this to me kind of hurt like a bitch.

Oh, and- [He grimaces, looking off-camera with a shudder.] I drink blood. For real. So I guess I can't say anything about being called a vampire anymore, though I must be the weirdest durn vampire to draw breath - which I ain't even sure vampires are supposed to do.

[He appears to focus, and after a few false starts manages to get his eyes back to normal. His nails, however, don't seem to have gotten the memo. He groans and holds them out and away from his body, like a man would who has already made the mistake of cutting himself on them.]

Oh, and the girl that posted here not long ago? Jennifer? She's my little sister. So if you make any trouble for her... well, I guess you just got to stack up on wooden stakes, alright? [Once more he looks off-camera.] Youou, could you... the video-

[Clearly he's not going to be experimenting with button-pushing with those nails. But a moment later Youou's arm appears in view - and an attentive watcher might notice a half-healed shallow cut on it - and the feed is cut short.]

[Once Haruka finally decided to take action, googling the mystery number in her head had been her first move. She couldn't guess at what she'd find, if she found anything at all, but result of typing that last number into the search engine was mind-blowing. What on Earth was this?

She went back to the very beginning to try and find out.

And quickly starts writing down a list of names under 'Google them', along with a bunch of observations both on the people and the network. She doesn't trust any of this, but she needs to know who to trust even less than usual because it looks like she's been pulled into something dangerous and unstable.

When that's done, she sits, thinks, and processes. What's her move now? Looking over nearly two month's worth of their stories and adventures, she can't help but feel a little endeared to them. She wants to introduce herself to the others; she wants to learn more about them.

She settles for this. Her interest is genuine, but she words it to resemble concern. Everyone will read and interpret it differently, and she can respond as the person they believe she is.]

How are you all adjusting? You've all been pulled into another world, you know, and I understand how difficult the transition period can be.

I should clarify: No, I'm not saying you've literally been transported to a new planet. What I am saying, is that you've been introduced to an entirely new way of looking at the world around you, and the way you feel about your life has changed for it. Think of it like experiencing a terrorist attack - the fear of almost losing your life while going about your daily routine, the sight of those dying around you. Your entire world been irreversibly shaken up, and yet no one from your old life truly understands.

I hope we're all on the same page now.

My name is Minamoto, and I'm interested in how you have been doing.

[ There's a few dots, like she's been tapping the marker against the page. ]

So yesterday, I had this stupid string of numbers stuck in my head. I don't do math, so what the fuck, right? And they just kept repeating and repeating and they just would NOT shut up. I put them into my phone, and I find this.

I've kinda been watching.

[ There's more dots, and a horribly drawn little flower. ]

Still not entirely convinced this isn't some fucked-up delusional shit. But if I'm delusional, I guess that makes all of you crazy too.

Does everything on this page show up?

Animals have far more sensitivity to their surroundings than humans do, they can sense changes in the environment that we can't. Canaries in coal mines. domesticated pets warning their owners of natural disasters to come. Survival of the fittest. "Natural selection conceived of as a struggle for life in which only those organisms best adapted to existing conditions are able to survive and reproduce." ... the point being that when things start going wrong, we're usually the last ones to notice.

... by the way, I heard that there were a lot of freak animal attacks last month.
[ that, and he volunteers at an animal shelter. ] I can pretty much guess that's not unrelated to whatever all of this is about. [ although, to be sure, the details are still rather hazy for him. he can only make inferences and guesses at this point, though his are more or less in the right direction, at the very least.

and now for something completely different: ]

there's an animal following me around when I'm not in public places. a bird. I don't really know why ...

[ he won't directly come out and ask for it, but this is his way of soliciting advice on what to do about it. ]

Is there any chance that we might negotiate for another week of relative peace before our enemies resume their efforts to eradicate us? Yes, I recognize that the chances are slim to nonexistent, but my capacity for higher reasoning seems to have vanished over the past few days.

On a more relevant note, I was toying with the idea of creating a survey that might give us a clearer picture of our numbers, age range, and so on— largely superficial data, in other words, that would not help to identify us individually but would help us to better organize ourselves. I have my doubts about whether a comprehensive database would be the best idea, but this seems a logical compromise. If I were to do this, would you be willing to participate? Suggestions for what to include would also be appreciated.

Lastly, we seem to be gaining newcomers daily. Many of you have already had this link handy to assist them, but I urge those of you who haven't to correct this. This lull in activity is likely the calm before the storm. We need to be prepared.

Okay, I've done my best to lurk around here and figure out what's going on in this 'Network.' Let me see if I got the facts right:

-Some of you enjoy goofing off here, but there's some serious stuff going on.

-Those of us with 'numbers' can slowly start getting weird things like weird languages and randomly appearing scars and useless skills with toys and memories for things we haven't experienced. (Extras? Is that what we're calling them? That's the most creative thing you guys could come up with?)

-Those creepy statues at the art gallery are using magic or something to convince people to like them, to buy from Thunder corp, and are sending us to some weird forum where aliens(?) talk about us like we're weeds and want us to agree to leave them alone so they don't kill us.

-People are getting haunted by...werewolf ghosts? I really hope I got that part wrong.

-Child spies? Vampires? What??

-A cat somehow randomly got on here.

I'd think this was all some weird ARG I stumbled across, like I Love Honey or something. But I can make my hands glow for some reason, and I can't imagine how an ARG could pull off THAT. This is some of the weirdest things I've ever heard of...Last Legend fans would call this contrived.

We had Nabe tonight~! (≧∇≦)/

[Al puts up a picture of some tasty hot pot on the table.]

Well we're not celebrating anything right at that time...

Plus, I guess my auntie was in the mood to cook Nabe anyway.

But either way, it's delicious~!

So delicious~! ( ^∇^)~♥

[Unaware to the poster, his entry somehow shows up in the network. The entire entry is actually written in Japanese. So, uh... those who aren't well versed in the language may not be able to understand.]

So.

[A redheaded young girl - not dissimilar to one who posted only a little bit ago, just with better hygiene and a pair of girly red hairclips - stares imperiously out into the network. It's obvious she's at a vanity mirror in a dorm room, since the image looks exactly like every picture of a college girl ever, just more level, with a neater background, and lacking an upheld camera or skimpy halter top.]

Fact number 1: I experienced a fugue state lasting at least five minutes yesterday, with no memory of the intervening time, or history of such a mental disorder.

[She holds up one finger to recount the point.]

Fact number 2: This fugue state left me with a clear and distinct memory of a particular string of numbers, and the impression I should write them down.

[Two fingers.]

Fact number 3: Superstitious rumor indicates that writing down mysterious numbers can do all sorts of things, so I decided to try it on a mirror. It can't be any more of a failure than the last experiment I did like this.

[Three fingers.]

Never got why anyone would want to meet someone named Bloody Mary anyway...

Whatever. Mysterious supernatural forces, you have thirty seconds to respond to me and win me one million dollars!

[She looks down at a cell phone lying on the vanity table, smugly noting the time, before seeming to remember something important.]

Wait, was that a sharpie or a dry erase? Dammit, where's the windex...

[She wanders off to start rummaging through things that the 'camera' can't see, but it's a small room, she'll hear in the unlikely event of something happening.]

( the handwriting that appears is hurried, a bit ragged. panicky squiggles, written in a way as if the writer is running. a terrible handwriting. if anyone notices it as well, the handwriting seems to be blending in with some other type of writing.

fading ink. typewritten. reversed. )

can someone tell me what exactly is outside?

( the handwriting pauses. she's not tried this so far, has been avoiding to trying it despite writings, faces, images appearing where she doesn't want it to appear. wanting to believe that no, this isn't right. )

and if it's something i can avoid on my way home?

( more scribbles, smaller than the previous ones. "does this even work?" "what if it doesn't?" "the library is creepy at night"... )

i think i'm going crazy now.
