Who: Everyone!
What: As announced, the NSCG+friends have been called to Lapland! There, they travel North, hunt down some kidnappers and finally discover...
When: 13th-19th 24th of January after Toushiro and Dani's post.
Where: Lapland
Warnings: Abduction of children, scary Santa Clauses, violence, one instance of (not graphically described) brutally murdered reindeer
On the David Graibiger and Monika Hallbach will greet the numbered in Rovaniemi and together they will all get on a bus northwards. Up there, they will all room in a few cabins, each with two four-person-bedrooms; food will be provided and the beds are made, but they'll have to cook for themselves. TV is available in the living room/kitchen of each cabin, but the internet connection sucks. Up there, they will be taught how to drive a car in the snow, how to drive a snowmobile, how to shoot a rifle if they have no combat power (for self defense). They will then be tasked with one of the following things:
1. People with combat powers: Go out there and hunt down the kidnappers! If those people seek for long enough, they will find:
- Haggard, wild looking old men with unkempt beards who are either dressed in red santa's clothes or have been jammed into green fur suits, their faces painted green with what appears to be markers. These men are feral: They will run away but, if attacked, use hands and teeth to fight, and not be afraid of injuring a person in any way. They are superhumanly strong, but seem to be incapable of human speech - they can seemingly neither speak nor understand what is said.
If a child of up to 14 years is with the group, they are much more likely to find one of these as the beings are seeking out children. They will try to get their hands on and run away with the child in question.
2. People without combat powers: They will be sent on various trips to look at sightings, talk to people, etc. These include, but are not limited to:
- Talk to the parents of abandoned children. There isn't much information to be had from the conversations themselves, but keen numbered will realized that there are vermini in the bedrooms of the vanished children...
- Checking out a flock of reindeer that was bitten to death - yet whatever killed them doesn't seem to have eaten anything. Disturbingly enough, the brave researcher will realize that these were human teeth that killed them...
- Checking out an abandoned excavation site. The only description is that the mad guy who just recently started it (no, nobody knows who he was or why he did it or how he got the permission) hasn't be seen in almost a month now and the workers left for Christmas and didn't return after it. The place is full of vermini, but vermedi can also be found. What they will find too is a letter in Russian, written by the two last guards of the place, in which they resign from their spot, quoting that none of their tasks, which they describe as "watching lunatics and guarding the rise of a monster", was in the job description and that they just aren't paid enough. If someone wants to try, these guards can be tracked down, just comment to the Lapland plot post and ask for more information.
3. Everyone:
- Captured not!santas and not!grinches, after having been tied up or locked up or something similar, need to be watched. And questioned, but really, they will only be violent and still not say a thing or show intelligence above a scared badger. The only way to get any information out of them will be to set one free and hope that they lead the numbered to the place that they live in, but through trial and error one who attempts that will realize that they'll only return there once their mission of kidnapping a child is accomplished.
4 And last but not least
- Much more MUNDANE and nothing that they will strictly be tasked with but: Cooking! Fighting over the shower, throwing things at the snoring person in the next bed. Learning how to shoot, learning driving, petting reindeer, fun in the snow, do you want to build a snowman... go wild!

[Åsa has come prepared with her own rifle, and santa outfit. Just in case. She also speaks Finnish, though only within the echo boundry, and a little cautiously as she tries to find the right words to use, having echoed back 1000 years worth of slang and regional variations, but she is willing to translate (she also, obviously, speaks Swedish, within and without the barrier and is happy to translate that when needed). It takes her a little while to get used to driving in the snow again, but her shooting is perfect, and she's happy to lend a hand to anyone needing a little extra training.
In other words, she's in her element, and perhaps a little obnoxiously over enthusiastic about how well they'll do. Just don't let her cook.]
B: out with a combat group
[Åsa calms down a fair amount on the road, although she's still happy to chatter away to fill any silence. The riffle slung over her shoulder would look a little out of place if it wasn't for the ease with which she carries it. She's brought a map with her and is guiding them further north.] Let's take the next left. It looks like there's a couple of houses that way, they might at least be able to tell us something.

That's when it hits her. Amy's body is rocked by a pulse. It relates to the memory she'd had beforehand, growing up alone on the streets... and in those moments, she realizes it was here, this country that she'd experienced all of that. And... oh my, she's understanding what Asa is saying to this person?!
She remembers. She's... Aila's from Finland. She herself was Irish American, but now... now she has memories of another heritage entirely? Amy can't help but stand there, basket in hand, face scrunched in concentration as she tries to come to terms with it. At this point, she's close enough for Asa to have noticed]

[Åsa pushes open the door to the bedroom, looking around for a moment and then stepping in so she's no longer blocking the door.] Oh, I want the top bed! [She says, eagerly, already moving over to the bed on the left and swinging her bag up there.] Siiri, come and have this bed! [She adds, indicating the one below the one she claimed and smiling back at her friend invitingly.]

and is too slow to stop Floweregg from bouncing into the room and jump on said bed, turning around to look at her with excitement in her eyes. Well then. Now she doesn't really have a choice anymore, does she?
So she gets over and picks the dog up, scolding her (in the heavy Norrlandish Swedish that she's picked up a while ago form an echo - she's found that it works well for scolding) with a few brief words before setting her back down to the floor and dropping her backpack.

[Dani is just having a little bit of fun, exploring and playing in the snow a bit. She's not fully worried about the whole thing just yet, knowing she's probably not going to be leaving the side of people she trusts.
Even when rooms are assigned she takes one bed and sits there, legs swinging. Dani doesn't seem too worried at the moment.]
B- Few days into the search (Closed to Kids Squad)
[After being out and learning more about what was going on, Dani decided it was time to talk more to Toushirou and Danielle about the whole thing. They knew what was going on..and how they could help. Maybe since they were the younger members of the entire group, they could think of something to help. So she calls them over to one of the rooms, just to keep things somewhat hidden from the older people here.]

[For someone being fairly combat oriented, Dani is sticking close to the group and not trying to do too much. She's willing to fight it's just..she's nervous and has a standing order to stick close.
Although after the kids meeting, she is starting to wander further on, trying to see what is out there first.]

[Among the people who had agreed to come with Lily and the others of the NSCG for the investigation, there was enough among that to fill out six of the eight available slots in one particular cabin: Lily herself, Winter, Jasmine, Marina, Raye, and Rakka. If not for the dire situation at hand, someone could probably make some joke about their cabin being a couples retreat, which might also not be too inaccurate.
For the most part, Lily's brought everything she needs with her in a nice, hefty backpack that one might normally think is a little difficult for someone of her thin frame to carry around. Thanks to echoed abilities of course, it's a cinch. This is to say nothing of the many, many layers of clothing and the sizable winter jacket she comes wearing.
Because let's face it, Lily wants nothing to do with being outside in this mess. When not joining in on the search, unless drawn outside - an ability a precious few people (or maybe just one person) may possess without her resulting scorn - she's doing her best to keep herself in the cabin in off-hours. If not hovering around her new fiancée, or her recently injured sister, she'll chat up just about anyone, or otherwise be curled up in some corner with her Kindle.
If one looks at her now versus the last time the Numbered were gathered together, and weren't at Winter's birthday to already see it, they'll find a young woman who's a lot more outgoing, friendly, and downright chatty than they might recall.
Also, she will do her best to make good on any promises of cooking for anyone and everyone, no matter what horror stories Jasmine may tell you. They're not true!]
[B - Search (Combat Powers Squad)]
[However, the majority of Lily's time isn't spent indoors, as her body would like it.
Not at all.
She's spending the grand majority of her time out and about, no matter how much snow there is and no matter how cold it is. In spite of her disposition to loathe freezing temperatures, she doesn't complain any when she's working. This is too important. Far, far too important.
Her transformation items always at hand, Lily sets out each day - trying always to bring people with her - to search for the missing children, and their captors.
After all, if they couldn't do this much, what good were they really?]
B
They need to save people. Once they've gotten settled in enough and learned how to traverse it all, she doesn't hesitate to venture out alongside anyone and everyone else who's looking for the missing children including Lily, ready to summon her armor and sword at a moment's notice. ]
This barrier just has to be this huge... god.

[She had pledged her support, and now, here she was, standing outside one of the cabins. The Numbered were here for a reason, to get those kids back safe and sound, but until then, it was hard not to want to have a little fun while things are made ready. Wasn't there snowmobiles around here?]

[Looks like this was it. Time to go out, find these kidnappers and introduce them to her fists and rifle. She'd prefer not to do any lasting damage, of course.

[At the request of her friends, and the NSCG, Rakka had come to Lapland to assist in the investigation of the missing children and the evil Christmas monster. In a normal situation, Rakka would have been skeptical of all of this happening, but times changed. And this was very real.
It hadn't taken Rakka long to realize that the cabin she was staying in was filled with nothing but couples. A funny coincidence. If it wasn't super cold, she would have done more outside then just searching for the children with the others.
To that end, Rakka would be inside the cabin on her downtime, ususally reading a book or using a portable gaming system. Any attempts to get her outside for any reason other then searching for kids would be met with polite refusal until either they give up or she does. Besides that, she will be spending quite a bit of time with Raye, doing various chores around the cabin, and trying to stave off the cabin fever.
In any case, she seems very happy, and will strike up a conversation with just about anyone around her.]
B - Searching with combat group
[The low temperatures of the Laplands were not going to stop Rakka from joining in the search. No, she was going to wear that big winter coat the Dians got her, and her wing cozies, and she was going to go out there and help.
Of course, she doesn't have any weapons, only her wits and a walking stick, so she'd be sticking to the back as a lookout of sorts.
If it was this cold to her, then how bad was it for the kids? She didn't want to think about that.]

[Oh, wait, no, it's just Raye, covered from head to toe in snow. She stomps her boots and starts brushing snow off of herself before looking up and, after a dramatic pause, makes her announcement.]

[ Walter has taken Cooking Duty in his cabin unto himself, and like most things, he is taking it way too seriously. It's hard without his kitchen, his appliances, and the ingredients he's used to, but he manages. And he spends way too much time fussing over meals.
When he's not out scouting for clues or obsessing over food, he's wrapped up in a blanket, staring at the wall, and thinking. This isn't exactly desirable, so sometimes he ventures outside and practices with his bow. Or his sword. Who needs a rifle when you've got ancient, outdated weaponry?? ]
b; searching
[ Lily said they need eyes, and he's definitely willing to lend them. His glasses fog up sometimes and when he opts for contacts they dry out quickly, but dang it, he's trying. He has to. This is bigger than him and his petty issues. And he's got a poncho of invisibility, so if he spots someone that needs tracking, he's kind of useful!
It really, REALLY is cold, though. The wind is the worst, and sometimes he gets disoriented. More than once, he's stumbled and fallen into the snow. He's fine, he always says. Absolutely fine. ]

Well actually she's home a bit earlier because the talk that she had with the parents of the abducted child was short (she's never been good at talks, but she's trying, because this is important and, well. Language advantage, it would be dumb for all involved if the one numbered who speaks Finnish fluently wouldn't go and talk to people).

[Winter is not unaccustomed to being a homemaker, and between herself and Lily, they can manage just about anything they need to. Cooking, cleaning up, resolving disputes... she can handle quite a bit, really. A small suitcase contains changes of clothes and extra cold-weather gear, although she's also depending on the fact that, if she needs something extra, she can just go home for it. Teleportation is a handy power, indeed.
In her ample free time, she can be found reading, taking warm showers, and occasionally lounging with her phone in one hand and a pencil in the other, composition book open on her leg, doing what appears to be wedding planning. If caught doing the latter, she'll either grin and share, or be startled and immediately flip the book over, where planning for the problem at hand - that is, the whole kidnapping case - is stored. She's also very much open to talking; she's comfortable enough here that she can reliably discuss pretty much anything.
Every so often, she'll bundle up, leave the cabin, and pop in to visit the others and make sure nobody needs anything, or maybe even just to stop and chat. The network still works here, but if they're all such a short walk away, why not just carry conversations face to face?]
[B - outside | near the cabins]
[Mr. Graibiger had insisted that, for certain parts of the land out here, a snowmobile was easier for travel than anything else. A part of her doubted that such a recommendation extended to supersede flight, but she didn't want to attract the kidnappers' attention, so better to find a mundane way to handle things. Thus, she's out here practicing on a snowmobile, and having the time of her life. She's probably out riding a little more than is necessary, but it's a rush she hasn't had in a while, as she blows past the cabins at a pretty severe clip. She's not opposed to having riders, either, though until she's confident her companion knows what they're doing, she'll keep the speed down - no need to break one of these when there's only so many.
...At some point, someone may catch her riding, transformed into Cure Diamond, seeing how fast she can go without the cold being a factor - and how far she can launch herself from a moving snowmobile into combat, without her wings, or how accurately she can launch freezing magic one-handed and moving faster than she can run.
Through it all, there's a huge grin on her face - this is fun, and there's a huge adrenaline rush attached. And if someone comes out to watch, she'll swing around and bring the vehicle to a neat stop right in front of the visitor, before holding out a gloved hand and offering to bring them along.]
[C - outside | search detail (combat)]
[Between stops, Winter's elation on the snowmobiles dims considerably with the weighty thought of their mission, though she's still handy on the throttle, preferring speed to control - most of them have some kind of supernatural durability, and she's confident she can shield anyone that doesn't from the worst of the damage while they're on board.
Once they come to rest somewhere, she doesn't even chance letting Raquel be anywhere but in her hand, ready for transformation at will. She creeps around corners, face unusually serious as they search for clues, for assailants, for children that haven't been taken... anything. She never travels alone, and she's careful to make sure that her partner is keeping up and ready for anything. There's no telling what could happen... and this what she'd always said was nothing less than their duty to the world. If they really were the manifestations of souls of the Earth, she had a responsibility to protect her home and its people.
Rikka wouldn't have let something like this stand, and as much as she generally objected to letting her other drive her, this was one point she'd happily concede any day of the week.]

She'll wait until Winter is paused for a moment, that nothing has crashed horribly, no attacks have misfired, and she's actually on the ground before approaching.]

[In the downtime between Santa hunting and learning to use a rifle (even though he really doesn't need to), Danny has been spending a fair amount of time in the cabins. Mostly watching TV in the living room, since Internet here sucks. But sometimes he can be found in the bedrooms too, laying in a bed and simply enjoying the feeling of having a bed again.
Wherever he is, though, there is the sometimes faint, sometimes inappropriately loud sound rattling chains--the chains attached to the new baggy black pants he's taken a strange liking to.]
[B - LET'S GO PUNCH SANTA]
[Danny is taking an aerial approach, keeping a fair twenty feet above the ground as he patrols, searching mostly for jolly fat men in red, but really anything out of the ordinary.
However, he's keeping in touch with any teammates on the ground via a network connection, using it like a walkie talkie. It's hard to talk to someone from 20 feet up in the air--and it gives them away to any potential Santas.]
Kssshhh, this is ghost five one breaker breaker nine, please update ground status for those of us overhead, over, kssshhhh!

[Saretha too had taken the trip on the 13th to assist in the search. It was good publicity for one, but... Something about it struck home. Children, taken from their homes, their families...
It made her angry, and if anyone tried to engage her the entire trip there, it was probably evident. Her anger is quiet, and focused. Leaving her as such once she's there. She briefly had considered asking Raye if she would be okay staying in the same one, but...
No, Raye had friends, and she didn't want to impose. As such, she'd taken up residence in a cabin that had as few other occupants as possible. Not because she thought herself better - rather, because she thought these people, trying (rightfully) to relax and take their minds off the dire events wouldn't appreciate her general disposition, quiet though it is.

The tough part was resisting the urge to run them over, which he kept getting for some strange reason. Not knowing his Instinct was kicking in consistently, Arthur spun around with what might have seemed to be practiced ease, blowing up a current of snow as he cut them off.
Arthur didn't know just quite how difficult it was supposed to be to learn how to use a snow-mobile, but since it came so naturally for him, he didn't bother to question it. Plus, he didn't question how he was able to make it go three times its normal speed.
When he cut them off, they turned to run. Arthur stared dumbly at them all as they disappeared into the woods, realizing that at that point he couldn't really have asked them questions.]

Hajime was quick to go out and hunt monsters--Santas?--if it meant he could save some kids. This seemed more important than some of the other stuff the Numbered had gotten pulled into. Because kids, man, he'd always had a soft spot for kids. It came from having a large, close, extended family. There were always kids running around. He had a pretty good idea how upset their families must be, and he wanted to bring those children home. So he was out there, seemingly unaffected by the cold in his giant bug form. His antennae are twitching as he stretches his Undead senses in an attempt to sniff out any Santas. "See anything yet? Because if you do, let me go at them first."
Because he thinks that even a crazed kidnapping Santa couldn't say no to the Lord of the Bugmen.
[B - Around the Cabins]
So the thing about Hajime is that he's afraid the media at large will find out that the whole Lord of the Bugmen thing is complete and total crap, and his human self will be exposed as being one of the Numbered. He doesn't want this, mostly because he'd like to be able to keep his family safe and out of this mess, and so he's refusing to take his human form while he's in Lapland. Seems safer that way. Consequentially, there is a gigantic bug stomping around the cabins from time to time. He doesn't actually need to sleep, so it's not unusual to be running into him in the middle of the night (which may be quite disconcerting, depending on how dark it is and where it is). He could keep looking that entire time, true, but just because he doesn't need to sleep doesn't mean he can go without a break for so long.
And, because he's restless, he's comandeered one of the kitchens, and he is wearing an apron and cooking a feast. This is large-scale, restaurant-level cooking. There's nothing at all wrong with a cockroach-man doing that, right? Hajime actually knows his way around the kitchen, so if anyone likes Japanese food, they're in luck, because he's got you covered...if you can get past the whole "bug in the kitchen" thing.

It was just a nice change of pace, that's all.
Determined to not be left behind when there was something really worth doing, Tony had scampered off after Hajime through the snow. He was bundled up in too many layers and looked a bit like a puffball, but he wasn't going to utter a complaint. Just think them, a lot, and swear quietly any time he almost fell on his face. Slow down bug guy would you?
"Can't see much for all the snow, you pick anything up?" Maybe he should have layered less, thinking about it now. He might ditch a coat or sweater if it meant he could move better.

Open! Floweregg and Siiri!
Siiri's favourite spot in the cabins is easily the sauna. She missed having one close enough to go to, even more one in the house, and so she can be found there at least twice a day. She's not the most talkative, but will gladly introduce people to what a sauna is and how to use it.
Floweregg, being a dog and not allowed in with her, uses the time to roam the cabin and say hello to people, and perhaps even sneak out and run over to the next cabin ...only to notice that she can't let herself in and bark at the door until it is opened for her.
B. Out to talk to people and look at the excavation site
Finnish being her mother tongue and herself not having combat powers past her ability to use a rifle and some sword and dagger wielding, Siiri has decided to instead go and talk to the families of the kidnapped children. That is what she will be doing for the first couple of days. Later, she'll go to check out the excavation site if anyone joins her.
She'll take the wheel driving there, but leave the radio to the other person. Floweregg will be deposited in the lap of whoever is in the passenger seat. ...And the dog isn't happy with having to stay down at all. As soon as Siiri seems to concentrate on something else, she'll give the person holding her a look and then try to quietly get on her feet and stand on her hind legs so that she can look out of the window.

[Raye's rarely sitting still during this trip, which might be a relief to some seeing her back to her old, driven, albeit slightly quieter, self or perhaps worrying that she's probably spending more time than would be advisable out in the freezing temperatures. Although hours of exposure don't seem to be bothering her that much....
Still, when she's not milling around outdoors she's inside keeping to herself, playing video games, listening to music. Or she's actually helping with the upkeep of the cabin and various chores, including cooking.
... Don't give me that look. She's actually not bad a cook.]
B Out On the Hunt
[Naturally, this is where most of her time is being sunk into. It's why she came out here after all. There are still... uncertainties, but no matter what she's going through she can't ignore this. Not kids in trouble. No way.
So, she's out there searching through the woods. On foot, sadly, partly because she may have been a little banned from snowmobiles after a minor kerfuffle involving one getting flipped over and half-buried in the snow, and partly because she figures if she can't find the freaks maybe the freaks will fuck up and mistake her for a target.
Senketsu is with her, albeit riding along in a backpack and perched on her shoulders for a higher view. Finally, after a long time of searching she lets out an aggravated sigh.]
Figures this shit would go down in the frozen asshole of the planet.
C The Other Half
[Of course, Raye's not the only one who came along on this trip. Senketsu's presence is a given, and the Kamui can typically be found at Raye's side although... only that. If one's liable to notice such things, she hasn't worn him since they arrived.
When Raye's up and about, he's with her, but during other times he appears restless. Often at night, he'll hop down off his hangar and roam the cabin on his own, picking up books, watching TV with the volume low or sometimes simply looking thoughtful about something....
