[open] If Santa Claus isn't coming to town, we have to go and find him.

Attention! By popular vote the Big Finale has been postponed!

Who: Everyone!
What: As announced, the NSCG+friends have been called to Lapland! There, they travel North, hunt down some kidnappers and finally discover...
When: 13th-19th 24th of January after Toushiro and Dani's post.
Where: Lapland
Warnings: Abduction of children, scary Santa Clauses, violence, one instance of (not graphically described) brutally murdered reindeer

On the David Graibiger and Monika Hallbach will greet the numbered in Rovaniemi and together they will all get on a bus northwards. Up there, they will all room in a few cabins, each with two four-person-bedrooms; food will be provided and the beds are made, but they'll have to cook for themselves. TV is available in the living room/kitchen of each cabin, but the internet connection sucks. Up there, they will be taught how to drive a car in the snow, how to drive a snowmobile, how to shoot a rifle if they have no combat power (for self defense). They will then be tasked with one of the following things:

1. People with combat powers: Go out there and hunt down the kidnappers! If those people seek for long enough, they will find:
- Haggard, wild looking old men with unkempt beards who are either dressed in red santa's clothes or have been jammed into green fur suits, their faces painted green with what appears to be markers. These men are feral: They will run away but, if attacked, use hands and teeth to fight, and not be afraid of injuring a person in any way. They are superhumanly strong, but seem to be incapable of human speech - they can seemingly neither speak nor understand what is said.
If a child of up to 14 years is with the group, they are much more likely to find one of these as the beings are seeking out children. They will try to get their hands on and run away with the child in question.

2. People without combat powers: They will be sent on various trips to look at sightings, talk to people, etc. These include, but are not limited to:
- Talk to the parents of abandoned children. There isn't much information to be had from the conversations themselves, but keen numbered will realized that there are vermini in the bedrooms of the vanished children...
- Checking out a flock of reindeer that was bitten to death - yet whatever killed them doesn't seem to have eaten anything. Disturbingly enough, the brave researcher will realize that these were human teeth that killed them...
- Checking out an abandoned excavation site. The only description is that the mad guy who just recently started it (no, nobody knows who he was or why he did it or how he got the permission) hasn't be seen in almost a month now and the workers left for Christmas and didn't return after it. The place is full of vermini, but vermedi can also be found. What they will find too is a letter in Russian, written by the two last guards of the place, in which they resign from their spot, quoting that none of their tasks, which they describe as "watching lunatics and guarding the rise of a monster", was in the job description and that they just aren't paid enough. If someone wants to try, these guards can be tracked down, just comment to the Lapland plot post and ask for more information.

3. Everyone:
- Captured not!santas and not!grinches, after having been tied up or locked up or something similar, need to be watched. And questioned, but really, they will only be violent and still not say a thing or show intelligence above a scared badger. The only way to get any information out of them will be to set one free and hope that they lead the numbered to the place that they live in, but through trial and error one who attempts that will realize that they'll only return there once their mission of kidnapping a child is accomplished.

4 And last but not least
- Much more MUNDANE and nothing that they will strictly be tasked with but: Cooking! Fighting over the shower, throwing things at the snoring person in the next bed. Learning how to shoot, learning driving, petting reindeer, fun in the snow, do you want to build a snowman... go wild!

Please start your own threads and head over to the Lapland plot post if you have questions, need more information on something, want an NPC, want more tasks, etc.

[It's odd in a way, that Saretha's been sort of keeping herself further separated from others than Raye on this whole matter. She's been more than a little driven. It's all struck a certain chord with her, which is easily notable. She's not exactly socialized much, and has spent much of her time searching.

...but she is paying mind a little more than ever before whenever catching sight of one person here. She's wanted to give Raye her space. She doesn't want to necessarily make their relation known to everyone unless it's what Raye herself wants, but... There is a mixture of both some concern and relief that she and Senketsu are both here. Thus, at one point when Raye is milling about outside, she'll find Saretha's presence nearby.]

You're looking a little bit more like yourself, S- [A beat and a frown, before she shakes her head.] Raye.

[Raye knew that Saretha was there, on the same mission as everybody else and... while she hadn't been avoiding her exactly, she hadn't exactly sought her out herself either. There's still so much stuff going on, so much that she has to sort through in her own mind, everything she'd found out about the two of them included. It's all something that will have to come to light eventually but... right now, with what they're here for. It just hasn't felt like the right time to approach those things.

Still, she stops her meandering when Saretha calls out to her, half-turning to face her.]

Eh, guess I am. Havin' something to do again probably helps with that. [A pause. She tilts her head.] You're lookin about the same as you always do.

[That... might have been a compliment?]

[Certainly - knowing you have a long lost sister is one thing.

Knowing what to do with that information is another. It's not like offering for her to move in, or to pay for yet more of Raye's bills is something Saretha expects the younger girl to. Well. Accept.

Plus she knows, money doesn't buy happiness. Or familial love and affection, for that matter. She's not quite sure how you get there, either - really, the entire matter of the emotional spectrum in general is vast and new to her.]

I suppose that it does, at that. [She raises one eyebrow to the "compliment," smirking slightly.] You look... better, yourself really.

[Let's be real, Raye. You looked pretty awful the last couple times. One especially!]

...have you had any luck since arriving? [Because when in doubt, dodge awkwardness with business.]

[Paying bills. Moving in. Both things that Raye hadn't even considered asking for. Which might be surprising until one considered that this was the same girl who occasionally had to be reminded that the girl she'd somehow become attached to was filthy rich herself. She is right though. Raye wouldn't accept any more money. Hell, she's still planning on paying back the hospital bills whenever that becomes a possibility.]

Thanks. [She reaches up, scratching the back of her head, further messing up her hair that's at least in an engineered disarray rather than just... disarray. She'd even grabbed some winter gear to suit her style, eschewing bright windbreaker style or fluffy bullshit for a heavy black coat that looked like it could belong on somebody running a midwinter worksite. Along with jeans and heavy, as she likes to call them, "shitkicker" boots.]

[Okay, business though. She can handle that. She shrugs and grumbles a little.]

Not really, just a whole lot of wandering around in the shitty fuckin' snow. What about you?

[Saretha's own winter wear is kind of to be expected - a long white coat that can be seen, similarly colored boots, and a large, long blue scarf are the most evident on sight. She can recognize that Raye is a lot better "put together" than when she went to the girl's apartment that one night, and she feels... thankful for that. It's a weird feeling, amid a lot of other weird feelings that she's still trying to pin down.

Mercifully, she takes the bait and moves to something else.]

Mostly the same, and with about the same luck.

[Her eyes drift off into the woods, frowning.] We're searching blind, mostly.

[For her part, Raye can't quite decide if the change in topic is a relief or a disappointment. On the one hand, it's a weird subject for them both with a lot of messy feelings for them both. Eventually, even Raye knows it's something that will need to be worked out. Eventually....]

No kidding, and every second we're out here fucking around those kids are stuck with them. [She frowns, clenching her fist tightly.] I saw the pictures of some of them. A lot of them aren't any older than Abby....

[One continent away and her little sister, and she *is* her sister no matter what blood relations have to do with it, could easily be one of those names on the list.]

[For a brief moment, there's a bit of distance in Saretha's eyes as she looks at Raye.

For Saretha, these children strike her so personally because... Right here and now, she is looking at a child that was taken away, or at least that's how she tends to perceive it. Had it not been for the Network, Saretha may never have found her again - but it hits closer to home than she wants to admit to anyone else. At the mention of Abigail, Saretha's expression flickers back to normal, although a little more severe than before.

Raye understands it, too. In perhaps an all too real way that Saretha can't even touch.

After all, Raye had actually gotten to know her little sister.]

You know just how much we need to track them down, then. I am... far too close to children being taken away from where they should be, Raye.

Be that Abigail. Or you.

[Her vision shifts sharply outside the gathering of cabins, into the area they've been searching.] I refuse to let that happen anymore. These children will be found.
