PLOT: WISE SNAKE'S EMERGENCE

Who: OPEN.
When: March 9th, Sunday, daylight hours.
Where: The business district of Locke City.
What: An enormous snake monster is pissed.
Warnings: Violence.

[The alien explodes silently - but it explodes.

First in a small cloud of hot (rose-scented) gas - those there to watch its final moments will want to step back.

A ripple in the air pulses - heavily - from where it once was, with absolutely no sound and color, but penetrating force. Anyone standing within two miles of the point of origin will feel a push, with those closest guaranteed to be knocked off their feet and temporarily dazed. Cars swerve and crash. Staff in the nearest office buildings launch into disarray. There’s no shielding from the blast - it can be felt through walls, through structures, in the air, and underground.

And it is felt underground.

The entire business district starts to shake, abruptly, jarred to a stir by some movement. It rises over the span of a long half-a-minute to the magnitude of December’s earthquake.

Tuning Towers experiences the worst of it - windows are smashing and objects are shaking loose and falling from the upper floors.

It finally ends - with screaming - as the head of an enormous pink snake breaks the lobby floor.

It flows its way quickly out of the hole it’s made, breaks itself another hole ever so politely through the main entrance doors, which were not meant to accommodate a twenty-foot-tall-and-wide exitor, and as it draws the last of its tail out after it, the quaking dies down.

It’s now roaring its way through the streets of Locke City’s business district - all several hundred meters of Wise Snake, emerged in the flesh (or stone?).

No regard for the walls of buildings, streetlamps, civilians, stopped and blindly pulled-over vehicles, anything else on its course - in a frantically-awakened, unrestricted rampage.]

[ She shakes her head, trying to clear it a little. ]

I'm fine. What do you mean, you don't know half of it? What happened?

I. I don't remember what happened. After I shifted.

[ Oh.

Anxiety twists her stomach into knots. Karson said secrets in relationships were bad, right? And she's told Alan before that he shouldn't bottle things up.

But she really, really doesn't want to tell Alan. Or see Alan's face when he finds out. ]

Oh, uh. Uh. Did anybody else fill you in yet?

Uh, not really. I mean. I guess I did a lot of damage?

[Because some of the destruction is fairly easy to recognise as the handiwork of a titan rather than the snake.]

Not sure how bad it is, though.

Yeah, I...

[ Hrrrgh. Maybe if she tests the waters a little? ]

Me neither. I missed it. 'Cause I died again?

[Oh, shit.]

How?

[It was the snake, right? She died because of the snake. It sucks that he wasn't able to protect her, but... it wasn't his fault? Right?]

It was.

[ Nope nope nope not going to cry nope no way ]

It.

[ WAS THE SNAKE LET'S GO SAY THE SNAKE THEN EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY AGAIN SNAKE SNAKE SNAKE ]

Iunno.

[ GOOD JOB, OCTAVIA. GOOD JOB. ]

[He can tell she's lying. She's lying and saying she doesn't know so that probably means...]

Oh.

[It means something he's not going to think about right now because that is not a thought that he can handle. Not now.]

At. At least you're okay now. Right.

Yes!

[ She snatches hold of him to draw him back into a hug. An incredibly clingy, shaky hug. The kind of hug that is pretty much an attempt to smush yourself right under a person's skin to be as close as possible. ]

Yes. Yeah. Super okay. You're okay too, right?

[He's clinging right back. Maybe if he just holds on to her and never lets go, they'll be all right.]

Yeah. Yeah, I'm okay. Except I'm crazy tired.

You look it. Pandalan.

[ She snickers into his shoulder. See? Things are a little bit more okay already. ]

You want to sit down somewhere? Or we could go back to the apartment if Ryan and Bertholdt are home to let us in?

Oh my god, I'd forgotten about the Pandalan thing. Thanks a lot for the reminder.

[He smiles. It's a bit weak, but still a smile.]

They're probably somewhere around here too. I know Ryan was out during the fight, at least.

So we can't go home and get you into bed?

Are you desperate enough to nap on the rubble?

[ MORE SMILES. Things really do seem eight times more okay when Alan is around. Maybe that's a superpower or something. ]

I think I could nap pretty much anywhere right now.

[He does kind of look like he's seconds away from passing out. Which, weirdly, helps him feel a little better too. It's hard to be too upset when you're falling asleep and hugging your girlfriend.]

Let's go to that one sofa store down the block. All the windows got smashed! So we can just go right in and get you a snooze spot on a couch and then Pandalan's return will remain our little personal private secretive secret.

[ Things new flight upgrade powers are useful for: being able to just casually lift your shouty boyfriend into the air with you without breaking a hug. Alan won't even have to walk to get to napsville. BEST GIRLFRIEND. ]

[He was definitely not expecting just to get lifted into the air. After the initial surprise it's pretty cool, though. BEST GIRLFRIEND.]

You got better at flying.

You're damn right I did! There's like. No effort involved any more. It's pretty sweet.

[ Just gonna loop-the-loop to demonstrate. SHIT'S EASY, YO. ]

I bet I could carry you and Wally at the same time now. Maybe even giant you!

[ NOPE ]

[Alan laughs a little in amazement. This is so cool. Why can't using 3DMG be this effortless, man?

But then she mentions giant him.]

Uh. I think that might be a bit much.

Maybe. And carrying regular you is more awesome anyway. Awesome and cool and romantic as shit!

[ Annnnnd look it's the sofa store. Octavia swoops (carefully) through the shattered window and deposits Alan by a sofa that seems to be entirely glass-free. FUCK YEAH COMFORT. ]

It is pretty awesome, yeah.

[And with that, he's out like a light. Looks like he's too exhausted to even yell about titans!]
