Any challenge to it isn't overt. He's keeping a fine static poker face.

Yes. Octavia is talking about what would be smart. Bear with her.
"- if we like. Personally disposed of the statues first? Before going to break the alien's freaky-freak freakface in? Assuming there're only a few left or whatever. I mean it's the most surefire way to make sure we know they're taken care of, right?"

"Can we like...lead them out somehow and then get them all to come to one place where they can just blow up safely? Or something like that. Do they have like--snake statue food or something we can lure them to?"
It's the dumbest sentence he's ever spoken in his life and almost immediately he regrets it.
no subject
"Either way, if their number isn't known... It would take a considerable amount of time to make certain all of them were taken care of, wouldn't it? Because then you'd have to check."
no subject
It's only after a girl with glasses weighs in that he speaks up.
"That's true, we lack intel. The risk of casualties is too great leaving them alone, and we'd need to make an organized sweep to try and eliminate them."
Of course, he had doubts about their overall level of organization.

"That way they won't have to explode and we don't have to worry about them."
/slides back in here
It would have been too simple for it to work Henry's way. Much, much better and easier, but too simple for anything that happened in their lives nowadays.

"Now, that's great and everything, but there's the small problem of either getting the statues to No One, or getting No One to the statues without being seen. Unless, of course, someone has teleportation powers, which at this point I really wouldn't be surprised about."
He also really doesn't like the idea of kids being involved in this at all. Shouldn't they be off doing... kid things and not attracting the attention of a corrupt police force with no qualms about killing children.
And, it's dangerously close to vigilanteism. Really, the kids should be staying as hands-off as possible.

Except, that wouldn't get him anywhere and leave a horrible first impression to most of the network members gathered here. So, he takes a moment to recompose himself and glances over to Gerald. The man had said something that was relevant to what he could do.
"It could be possible to get 'No One' to the statues, depending on their location." He states. "If we were to do the opposite, by bringing the statues to 'No One', there would be a lot more risk involved. We don't know if one statue would detonate upon its arrival, harming the carrier in the process."
Then again, he wasn't even sure if someone who could 'teleport' and have to compensate for the weight of the statues. He's never traveled by the shadows with a heavy object before and a part of him didn't want to. But, he wasn't going to let a child volunteer themselves for a suicide mission.

That theatrical stage whisper is a clear sign that the adult brigade's time is over. Make way for Captain Obnoxious.
"I'm like. Legit immortal! So if we go with the break-the-statues-before-visiting-the-alien thing I can volunteer to do it. 'Cause I won't get exploded and junk if I don't run away in time! And that way we're not being gross sneaks who kill the alien by exploding it without even talking to it first. Which is pretty fucking unconscionable and stuff."
Geez, guys. Everybody knows that a tense and dramatic scene in which the heroes confront the bad guy and he spills all his secrets is a necessity in any decent story. Octavia already has a bunch of one-liners prepared for it and everything.
no subject
But, Henry had another thing to contribute. "Well, I might be able to just Believe all the statues away? You know, if my power gets any stronger. But, we're probably on a tight schedule."
no subject
Roxy has finally decided to interject, because allowing Tavia to be dumb actually causes her physical pain.
It's a condition.
"Second - do we know how intense these're gonna be? Like, if they just kinda burst, they probably wouldn't cause too much damage down in the subway 'cuz shrapnel's not super destructive. If there's like, legit fire and heat and stuff, that'd be different."

She frowned.
"I mean... if they go off all at once, just how bad is that going to be on a grand scale?"
gently slides in here late
"The statues only blow up if No One dies, right? What if--he doesn't die? I mean like, taking him as a prisoner, or something. Maybe we could use 'im as some sorta bargaining chip. Or get it leaked to the media like we did with the water."
no subject
Neither of them were big fans of letting anyone die if there was a way to avoid it. So they happily jump on this topic of discussion!
"That's a phenomenal idea!"
"Get the alien leaders to listen to what we have to say!"
"Start debating diplomacy!"
"Get the world on our side!"
no subject
To that end...
"If it's possible to detain them, that'd simplify things somewhat. Provided those statues can be neutralized in an exchange like that."
no subject
He's not up for openness to negotiation on that point.
no subject
That was it. That was the point she wanted to bring up, since they did have a moment of 'but how many are left' before. "We could probably count 'em up that way."
...Having contributed (sort of), she lapses back into silence for the moment, one foot tapping out a regular rhythm on the floor.
