[General Log] Tuning Towers, Sept. 22 onward.

Who: Any and all!
Where: The site of Tuning Towers (and/or en route accordingly), at the heart of the business district in Locke City's downtown.
When: September 22nd and onward.
What: Following that mysterious buzzing sound to its strongest point! Perhaps you made plans with numbered associates for a trip downtown, or perhaps you went a-wandering alone to follow the noise yourself - surely you'll hardly be the only one.



[Tuning Towers, the third-largest building in the United States and Locke City's most prominent feature, from a tourist perspective in one sense and quite literally by another - look up and marvel, if you will, should you not be a bit too distracted by the circumstances.

Even if you needed to focus to tune into the buzzing in your brain at the start of whatever trip you took, you'll find that by the time you come close enough to the tower to feel a rising sensation of tremors beneath your feet - unnoticed, as far as one can tell, by the crowds, which almost never lack presence around the building - you'll be able to hear it very easily without even trying. It isn't terribly intrusive in the first couple of days after the return of the lights in the sky. As September moves on and into October, however, the intensity will grow all the more overbearing.

It is, indeed, even worse if you enter the building - only the ground floor is accessible to the unauthorized by the tower's maintenance and management or personnel of the companies making use of it. Apart from that, among the indoor crowds, you'll find nothing unusual on the ground floor - and if you'll find that the buzzing loses its strength the higher you go if you take a trip up to one of the observation floors.]

Nothing's impossible! There could be something else only we can hear! [A beat.] ...But I guess if we haven't found anything like that yet, it probably isn't.

[metalbent]

Exactly. And even if it were something only we could hear...

[ She snorts. ]

...Wouldn't it obviously still be related? What else do we all have in common besides the thing?

[unimpressive]

Nothing that I know about! So it's gotta be that! [He's perfectly cheerful now as he says it. Heeeyy, it is still pretty exciting.]

The only question is... Why this noise? What's it gotta do with all the other things?

[metalbent]

They're trying to annoy us to death?

[ Sophie thinks this sounds legitimate. ]

See anything likely? [ don't mind her prodding your arm with a finger. ]

[unimpressive]

If that's what they wanna do, there's just got to be an easier way to kill us than this.

[He huffs when she prods at him, but doesn't protest too much... yet.]

I don't know, I don't know! It all looks the same as ever to me! But if we keep going this way, we're gonna end up running into the Tuning Towers.

[metalbent]

Yeah, but they'd have to find us first, right?

[ And apparently they're not too bad at the stealth thing. Sort of. ]

Tuning Towers? Ugh. We went there once for school; it was boring. ...I guess "tuning" sounds sort of like something that'd have to do with noise, though?

[ She shrugs. ]

[unimpressive]

[...Point.] Ha, I guess so! And as long as we don't tell them anything, they can't really find us.

[As for the towers though...]

Like tunes or something, right? [--No, like tuning.] So that noise could be coming from there!

[Or not. What does he know]

Well, if that's where you think they are. ...Honestly, I'm not too clear on where we're at. I haven't been down this way often.

[ So it's lucky she ran into someone who could see...

...Who she trusted enough to tag along with. ]

[unimpressive]

[He'd be so flattered if he knew.]

I don't know. I've only been here a few times, too. But we're not gonna find out unless we go check! [A pause.] And even if it's coming from there, at least we'll know we can look somewhere else!

[metalbent]

Well, lead the way, Peppy.

[ THAT SOUNDED PARTICULARLY PEPPY, REALLY. She's so spot on. ]

[unimpressive]

[He can't escape the pep, no matter what he does. Doomed, really.]

Okay, okay, come on! I'm going now!

[True to his word, he's off, at just a slow enough pace to, hopefully, not leave Sophie behind.]

It's just a few more blocks! [he calls back, still moving steadily.]

[ Sophie isn't having too much trouble keeping up - as long as he doesn't start running, she can follow the leader pretty well. IT'S ALMOST LIKE HE'S A VIDEO GAME PROTAG, OR SOMETHING.

But no, she's keeping pace pretty well, though going with her cane and following the sound of Vaughn. ]

Coming, coming. Geeze, hold your horses!

He heaves out a sigh, hands on his hips.]

Jeez, calm down! I'm not rushing you! And I'll tell you when we get there, too!

[metalbent]

Just as long as you remember! If you don't, I guess I'd just have to warn everyone about how heartless you can be.

[ She...probably wouldn't do that? Maybe? ]

[unimpressive]

Heartless?! [He just can't win, can he?] Come on! It's not like I'm gonna leave you behind or anything.

[Oh boy, oh boy, what do--] A-anyway, we're almost there!

[metalbent]

Well, if you did, I'd have to warn people, wouldn't I?

So you can see it?

[unimpressive]

[He just sighs again, completely ignoring that for the moment. He's doomed.]

Yeah, I can see it! Come on, let's check it out.

[metalbent]

Here goes nothing!

[ Or everything. ]

I... thought I'd already replied to this, I'm sorry!!

[unimpressive]

Yeah, yeah! It doesn't look any different than usual, it's just...

[...Wait.] ...Do you feel that?

...Shaking, right...?

[unimpressive]

Yeah... [A pause.] Yeah, that's it!

You... I don't know if we should stay where we are, come on.

[metalbent]

Where are we going?

[ There's a pause as she speaks, because she's getting that empty feeling again...the feeling that always precedes something coming back. ]

[unimpressive]

[He waits a moment before answering, forcing himself to relax as he does so. Whoooaaaa, okay, he is so not used to feeling tense, what is going on]

Closer to the tower? [A huff.] I don't know about this shaking, but we should still check out, huh?

[metalbent]

Yeah, I mean...yeah.

[ That sounds a lot more confused and a lot less sure of herself than Sophie usually does. She looks a tad disoriented. ]
