[General Log] Tuning Towers, Sept. 22 onward.

Who: Any and all!
Where: The site of Tuning Towers (and/or en route accordingly), at the heart of the business district in Locke City's downtown.
When: September 22nd and onward.
What: Following that mysterious buzzing sound to its strongest point! Perhaps you made plans with numbered associates for a trip downtown, or perhaps you went a-wandering alone to follow the noise yourself - surely you'll hardly be the only one.



[Tuning Towers, the third-largest building in the United States and Locke City's most prominent feature, from a tourist perspective in one sense and quite literally by another - look up and marvel, if you will, should you not be a bit too distracted by the circumstances.

Even if you needed to focus to tune into the buzzing in your brain at the start of whatever trip you took, you'll find that by the time you come close enough to the tower to feel a rising sensation of tremors beneath your feet - unnoticed, as far as one can tell, by the crowds, which almost never lack presence around the building - you'll be able to hear it very easily without even trying. It isn't terribly intrusive in the first couple of days after the return of the lights in the sky. As September moves on and into October, however, the intensity will grow all the more overbearing.

It is, indeed, even worse if you enter the building - only the ground floor is accessible to the unauthorized by the tower's maintenance and management or personnel of the companies making use of it. Apart from that, among the indoor crowds, you'll find nothing unusual on the ground floor - and if you'll find that the buzzing loses its strength the higher you go if you take a trip up to one of the observation floors.]

[ Aria widens her eyes on purpose. ]

But we're just doing a school report on the towers! You can't get in trouble for that. They're a public tourist trap!

[okay and now he's laughing] Okay true! I just wanted to make sure, you know. Don't wanna have to explain the cops to dad if I can help it.

[so now he'll actually take the lead heading over towards the towers]

I am absolutely against being hauled in for anything by the cops!! For future reference, I mean. It is a thing I actively avoid.

[ She tags along after, looking...still upbeat, although wow that sound is irritating. ]

...Ha. "Tuning" towers. ...Okay that's not that funny.

Good. I'm not hanging out any more if cops start being a part of it, that kind of ruins it for me. [being terrible and obnoxious is only for online, obviously]

[and with them getting closer and it being louder, he doesn't even have to ignore the voices to hear it now which is... well on the one hand, it drowns them out, but on the other hand, it's really annoying.]

You're right, it's not. [it's obvious he's teasing though even though he's finally getting annoyed by the noise.] Why would they even do something here, you'd think someone normal would notice.

No worries! I do not actually do illegal things all that often. I think I have done...one thing. And when I do those things, I always have a reasonable explanation for why I might be doing them.

...That doesn't sound that exciting, but I think adventurers have to be practical and pragmatic before they're exciting, or their careers won't last all that long.

[ She sticks out her tongue in the height of maturity. Aria is clearly two years older than Soren. Yes. ] You would think!

...But really, I don't think they would. No one outside of us can hear the, you know.

I think being safe is probably better than exciting, at least when it comes to breaking the law. Because I'm pretty sure being in jail is way more boring than being safe.

[she's clearly the older one, yeah. no doubt about it.]

But still, you think someone would notice whatever's doing it or... whatever? I don't know.

I'm not sure I want to go in but you probably do, so sure. Let's go in.

You'd think! I was through this area the other day - that's why I texted you - but...the person I was with didn't hear a thing.

She actually asked if I was getting enough sleep and ordered me to avoid soda and caffeine, so.

[ sisters. ]

And of course I do! It would be silly to come all the way here and then not go inside. [ At least they don't have to pay money to go inside, okay. That's a plus. ]

Maybe we're all just imagining it. We're all really going crazy, or crazier, and soon enough we'll all end up committed or something. [he doesn't really seem too serious about that though. only a little serious.]

Then we'd better go in, I don't want to deny you your adventure. [it's a good thing too, he might not have agreed to come along if they'd had to pay. anyways yep heading on over and whatnot now, right along with her.]

...Could be. [ That's not her usual response to that sort of thing, but. What if. ] I think maybe I used to be.

...Anyway, right! Let's go go go! [ It's so much better to focus on other things, like going inside the mysterious source of the buzzing, because that sounds safe and good. ] This way!

Okay, I'm coming! [just tagging along again, no big deal. this really does seem like a super safe and fun adventure here yep, no risks at all. as long as the buzzing doesn't end up being something terrible and deadly.]

[ Of course actually approaching the tower means the tremors underfoot are going to be felt, and Aria's expression changes to one of caution.

She's...not imagining that, right? She glances sideways to see if she's imagining that. ]

Is that an - ? [ ...No, no one else is reacting, not an earthquake. ]

[and when she glances over she'll see soren looking over at her with a pretty surprised look as well] An earthquake?

[and yeah he's totally glancing around at everyone else around, wtf] How can no one else feel it, that doesn't even make sense.

[ Aria nods. That was, in fact, what she was going to say. ]

...This isn't even a matter of not seeing something! [ How can people be walking around like there isn't a tremor in the ground?

It's not enough to knock her off her feet or anything, but...

Obviously the answer is to keep going, now with a rather stubborn expression. ]

...Maybe they're the ones going crazy. [not that that's a good solution either since that means, you know. their families are crazy.

and frankly that makes him less interested in checking it out but he follows for now anyway.]

Are you sure this is still a good idea, what if next is something worse?

I don't think so. I mean - [ She shakes her head. ]

If it's something worse, we can split. Or you can stay out here - I don't actually want you to get hurt or anything.

No, I'll come. It's just a building, right, there's enough normal people around nothing too bad can happen. [probably. that's what he's telling himself at least.]

[but he's just going to follow. because no way is he leading if it could get even worse than this.]

If anything does, just stay behind me. [ She...gets the feeling she's probably better at throwing a punch and anyway she can Do Stuff sort of now.

...Anyway, have you ever been to the Towers before?

Are you gonna protect me? [grin. she probably is better because he's kind of not good at doing anything physical but shhh.]

No, not really. I mean I've seen them and everything but. They're just towers. [/shrug]

Of course!! I'm totally knight in shining armor material! Or, you know. I at least can hit people? [ She grins back. ]

Wow, you're actually totally missing out. This is like our cultural heritage, you know! We're going by the gift store before we leave.

[ ...Aria, priorities. The grin does flicker as she looks around upon entry. Why...? ]

I don't really need postcards of a tower. Can't you just buy those at normal stores anyway?

[and looking around of course isn't showing anything obvious, so he just looks over at her again a little confused] You see anything?

Has anyone ever shown you how? It's easy to hurt yourself if not. ...Well, apparently.

Maybe? But you could be missing out on a mug, Soren. Or dorky tower sunglasses. Are you really prepared to take that chance?

[ Soren wins a shrug, and a frown. ]

...No. Nothing yet. Maybe we should go up?

[ Although the tremors feel down. Eventually they'll hit the point of pulsecholocation but. ]

I guess I could maybe use some dorky tower sunglasses. I could just wear those everywhere now to hide my eyes. [they would be stupid enough that it would be kind of funny, after all.]

I don't know, if there's like. You know, shaking, then up might not be the right way to go? But I don't know where else to go... [he's just kinda gonna look around and see if he can see anything again.]

Remind me to teach you how to throw a proper punch later! It is actually a pretty useful thing to know, I think.

[ Eyebrow raise. ] Are you going to show me why that is before we part ways tonight? Because now you're just being mysterious on purpose.

...That's definitely a good point, but I don't think there's a way to go down. At least, not without being on staff or like...going TMNT-style down.

[ WHICH SOUNDS A BIT TOO ADVENTUROUS EVEN FOR ARIA, HONESTLY. ]

Well. Okay. I think I'd rather just, stay out of any kind of situation where I should punch people, but I'm not gonna say no.

[laugh] No way, I'm going to keep it mysterious for at least another week! [or you know, until they leave, but same thing.]

Going up is probably better than leaving then, yeah... Okay sure, let's try it.

Clearly you did not think about what being my friend means enough!! Those sorts of situations are the most fun. [ ...That, at least, is not serious. Although it kind of should be since her reaction to something happening is to go and see what it is immediately. ]

Rude!! I'm going to keep my stuff mysterious, too, then. [ She totally has stuff to keep mysterious!
