[As usual with posts Alan makes from his sketchbook, his writing is surrounded by little doodles; this time there are quite a few depicting a furry creature you might recognise as a Vermedi, as well as what looks like a girl with fairy wings.]

ok so it looks like a few people got new stuff since we went into the mine. anyone got any idea why? I mean we didnt find anything there except some of those hairy things.

so anyway I got something too. and Ive got no idea what it is. its like some kind of leather harness? like idk kind of like horse reins but with 500 different straps. also theres a mechanism that I think is some kind of weird double grappling hook thing? also theres a bunch of giant box cutter blades.

its all got that familiar feel so I think it belonged to past me. but I seriously do not know what it is or where Im going to keep it so my mom doesnt see it.

I DID hear this weird kind of buzzing sound in my head down there. Maybe it had to do with that?

I don't know, but if they came together, it all ought to add up to one purpose, right? Grappling hooks for climbing something, blades for cutting something...

Are you sure it's like horse reins? If it came with grappling hooks, maybe it's for more like...mountain climbing. I don't know what you'd need to cut up there, but...

Sketch it? Hard to picture that kinda thing.

And I'd vote stash it in a box under your bed. Pile old school crap on top of it so it looks totally normal if opened.

Everyone were getting them from the water too, weren't they? Has there been any other similar occurrences? That is, we've done something more out of the ordinary and gotten these Pulse things from it?

I got a pulse almost immediately when I ran into one of those things in the mine.

And before, it happened when a swarm of grues ran over my balcony.

Maybe the monsters and the pulses are connected somehow?

I have to agree with leetspeak girl up there. Between the leather straps and the blades it's either a really stupid weapon or German-brothel-tier bondage gear. Also nice fairy. Is she your girlfriend?

[Bertholdt certainly doesn't recognize the Vermedi, but he does vaguely recognize Octavia from the times he's seen her on the Network and when he saw her at Ryan's first aid classes. He knew Alan could draw, but he's pretty impressed by the likeness.]

Hey, Alan. Did Tavia talk to you about that internship opportunity thing I was trying to get lined up? Because I don't know if that option is going to exist much longer.
