[As usual with posts Alan makes from his sketchbook, his writing is surrounded by little doodles; this time there are quite a few depicting a furry creature you might recognise as a Vermedi, as well as what looks like a girl with fairy wings.]

ok so it looks like a few people got new stuff since we went into the mine. anyone got any idea why? I mean we didnt find anything there except some of those hairy things.

so anyway I got something too. and Ive got no idea what it is. its like some kind of leather harness? like idk kind of like horse reins but with 500 different straps. also theres a mechanism that I think is some kind of weird double grappling hook thing? also theres a bunch of giant box cutter blades.

its all got that familiar feel so I think it belonged to past me. but I seriously do not know what it is or where Im going to keep it so my mom doesnt see it.

Yeah, she told me about it. It sounds kinda creepy, but I'd be up for it anyway if the offer's still open.

Hah. Well. Let's just say that if my condition doesn't improve, it's going to suddenly be a full-time position and I won't be able to pull any weight for you. Metaphorically and literally, actually.

I'm that special kind of okay where I say yes, but I'm really not even a little bit okay.

I mean, you're only what, 15? I don't want to lump all my problems on you. It's heavy stuff. If you want to be a sounding board or something, that's cool, but I won't force you to do anything you don't want to do. You've got stuff of your own, too.

Everyone's got stuff of their own. You're one of the cooler people on the network, so you shouldn't have to deal with things alone.

All right, well, don't say I didn't warn you. [sigh.] I can't move my right arm at all and I'm in danger of losing my job because of it, and it's because of an echo I got when I drank the water. I already checked with the clinic and there isn't a lot they can do for me. I've got an appointment to get a fake cast made, but that'll only keep me going for a few weeks more. So basically, I'm about a million percent screwed.

...Shit. And I thought my echoes where bad.

Yeah. And Tavia already tried moving it for me, and no dice there either. I really wish I were in the right state of mind to tease you two about dating, by the way. It would be so much more fun than reality right now.
