[ Any of the Numbered who have set foot outside today are likely to have seen some of the rather unique posters plastered around on every available building/lamppost/fence/beloved family pet. Observe the glitter-saturated horror. ]



[ Y E A H. Regardless of which echo boundary they're in, the notices are everywhere. Some lucky Numbered may even have had one shoved into their mailbox! GOSH. There's also an address for a weddng chapel in Vegas (confusing many Fussen locals in particular) and a note that masks are mandatory and will be provided to people who don't already have one. How considerate!

C'mon, Numbered Specials. Party with Badri and forget all the horrid stressful things that are happening. ]

Wonderful! Let us start with your "knock knock" jokes.

[ He stares at Elian with a wide-eyed, expectant air. ]

They make no sense! Instead of saying "who is there," why not open the door?

Well, you might not want to open the door if you didn't know who it was! After all, what if it's some sort of vacuum salesman?

Then I would invite him in and examine his wares and spill things so he could do demonstrations.

And if you'd already a perfectly good one, perhaps brand new? Why, there'd be no reason to get another.

[WAIT HE'S GOT IT this was clearly something like.........maybe a frog before. there was that one little horse, and the cat, and the ferret, right? that makes perfect sense!]

Really, it could be any number of things you don't want. That's why it's good to ask, to have an idea of what to expect!

[ He claps his hands together, clasping them over his chest for a moment before offering one to Elian. ]

Which reminds me! I am Badri Barkley, like a dog or a tree! What-or-who are you?

Ah, but that is where the joke comes in! Because you then expect one thing, and promptly, another!

[what a delightful frog-person. or maybe dog-person? tree-person? Elian happily takes his hand]

Price! Like the cost of a thing. And I do not know what Elian means, but if I say it wrong it sounds like a lion! How fearsome.

[ He shakes Elian's hand. Rather vigorously. What is restraint? ]

Are you a Special? Or a Normal who does not mind being in close proximity to them?

I'm far from a lion, I'm afraid, but I shall take that with good spirit nonetheless.

[maybe he isn't a frog. dog? Elian can certainly imagine him wagging a tail right about now]

Is that what we're calling them now? Numbered, Special, whathaveyou- I'm a part of those affected, if nothing else.

It's what I'm calling them! I love Specials! So I would never want to call them any of those nasty things they get called lately.

[ He finally lets go of Elian's hand. But not until he's given it one final, vehement shake. ]

It is why I threw the party. Sometimes exciting things happen when all the Specials get together!

Well, I hope they're the pleasant sort of exciting- I recall having a large group over at my house, once, and then a number of uninvited guests making an absolute mess of the place.
