[OPEN] The monster mash

Who: Badri and YOU.
What: Impromptu halloween masquerade
When: Halloween night, 10pm onwards
Where: A wedding chapel in Vegas. Y-yeah.
Warnings: None - shoot me a PM if anything needs adding!

[ Any of the Numbered who have set foot outside today are likely to have seen some of the rather unique posters plastered around on every available building/lamppost/fence/beloved family pet. Observe the glitter-saturated horror. ]

[ Y E A H. Regardless of which echo boundary they're in, the notices are everywhere. Some lucky Numbered may even have had one shoved into their mailbox! GOSH. There's also an address for a weddng chapel in Vegas (confusing many Fussen locals in particular) and a note that masks are mandatory and will be provided to people who don't already have one. How considerate!

C'mon, ~~Numbered~~ Specials. Party with Badri and forget all the horrid stressful things that are happening. ]

[ Uh. Just inside the chapel reception are a selection of plain white masks, crayons, feathers and glitter glue. A helpful sign indicates that people who didn't bring their own mask should take one and decorate it.

There are also face paints and costume makeup provided. No mirrors, though. You should probably get someone you trust to apply those for you, if you want them. ]

[ The party itself is a surprisingly posh masqueradey affair. The music encourages formal dancing over anything contemporary, and a few waiters are passing around food and alcohol-free fake champagne. Swish. ]

[ It's. It's a ballpit. An obscenely large, deep one that has been left outside the chapel.

Apparently Badri heard these were all the rage with humans these days. ~~Someone get him the fuck off Tumblr.~~ ]

[ Badri is easy to spot. Mostly because he's wearing a mask specially chosen to appeal to notions of Earth human "irony", and he's chatting and/or dancing with anyone who gets within arm's reach of him.

He's really very good at both of those things. ]

[even with his mask, there is probably absolutely no disguising who this old man is. he's managed to find and/or rent a burgundy tailcoat for the occasion, too, because oh no this looks delightful he absolutely has to dress up and look his best and really he looks like he's just enchanted with everything and having a lovely time.

really, after the worries that came with rejoining all of this, it's so nice to have a little diversion-dance-masquerade. he will absolutely be going out of his way to anyone alone looking like they wish they could get in to all this but can't for whatever reason or another.

no frowns here. this is his goal.]

[ Badri tilts his head, stroking the cheap plastic mask's chin thoughtfully. Hmm. HMMMMM. ]

[ Annnnnd he collapses in a heap on the floor. He does a stellar job of feigning death for about half a second before he starts giggling like an idiot. ]

all right, he may be scolding, but there's a bit of a smile that throws it off as he crouches down to try and help the other up]

Now that was in poor humor, young man! You had me worried!

[ BALLPIT. This is where Octavia will be for most of the night, because she is basically eight years old.

Instead of a proper mask, she's wearing an exceptionally fancy eyepatch over her missing eye - it's adorned with lace, ribbons and a fake rose slapped where her eye should be. In short, it is anime as fuck and she should be ashamed of herself.

Aside from that, she's wearing a black tuxedo (hardly suitable ballpit gear, but shut up) and is almost completely submerged beneath the coloured balls. She is no longer Tavia Serket, Actual Fairy Pirate Thing. She is now a ballpit shark. Lurking. Waiting. Ready to kill.

[ You know that guilty look puppies get when they're scolded? Badri has mastered the hell out of expressing that with the tone of his voice alone. He accepts the help, though. ]

Don't tell Geoff or Meredith! This is why they keep telling me not to try your human humour. Do you think anyone gives lessons on it? Could you give lessons on it?

[ He pushes his mask up as he talks, offering a wave as his face is exposed. IT'S ONLY POLITE. ]

[ Of course, he manages to fall in headfirst. And just sink. Slowly. Until only his feet are showing. ]

[well, by the time Badri's back on his feet, all seems to be forgiven- even if Elian does pause a bit on 'human humor'. he thinks on it for a moment, wondering if this poor soul has lost a bit through Echoes, but

Well, I'm told I've a bit of an odd sense myself, but I'd be happy to try and help.

Wonderful! Let us start with your "knock knock" jokes.

[ He stares at Elian with a wide-eyed, expectant air. ]

They make no sense! Instead of saying "who is there," why not open the door?

Well, you might not want to open the door if you didn't know who it was! After all, what if it's some sort of vacuum salesman?

[Anything Julien wears has to go with the feathers. He's in a ghost costume which fits the human parts of him snugly. The hood comes with an inner veil. Within conversational range his face can be seen, but even out of it, it's really obvious who he is. Who else is seven feet tall with massive white wings and a tail?

Despite being a giant ghost harpy, with his face and hair obscured his stealth talent is working and he doesn't stand out the way he reasonably should - when in the background he's certainly noticeable but easy to forget about, so people keep realizing he's there and shooting startled looks at him.

As always, he's happy to see anyone he knows.]

After all Badri was the one to officially invite everyone, so he has to entertain his guests, right?]

[Julien is harder to notice than someone his size and shape should be, especially with his hair hidden by his hood. 'Ghost' isn't a totally inappropriate costume. He's silent when he wants to be, right up until he says something.]

Elian! Galu. You're looking snappy.

[Thank god for echoes, because without them, Jovan would be a much plainer figure at this party, more akin to wallpaper than an attendee.

Instead, here he is in the gaudiest outfit imaginable. Outrageous suit, glittery crocs, a top hat with his name sewn onto it in sequins, a bedongled masquerade mask (nsfw), and a vibrant purple feather boa. What is it supposed to be? If you want to know, you'll have to ask the man himself.

He takes a glass of champagne as elegantly as he can manage in this get up and sips at it in a sophisticated manner, frowning when he realizes it's non-alcoholic. Oh no, this will simply not do.]

[Jovan doesn't know if there's anyone in the ballpit. He just thinks it'd be funny to mess around with it.

He pours some of the non-alcoholic champagne into the nose of his dong mask (nsfw), which I've just decided has a hollowed out path through it so it can simulate very realistic peeing.

As it trickles down, he shrieks.]

Lyall is reduced to recycling one of his costumes from school, which means it's functional enough that he can teach in it. He almost came with the wolf ears, tail, and paw-gloves, but what with the things going on at the high school right now, he thought that would be in bad taste. So instead he's a mad scientist, complete with a lab coat painted with red at the hem worn over that waistcoat he'd echoed back, a very nice top hat with his glassicals over his eyes in place of a mask, and an actual honest-to-god cravat.

Honestly, he feels more at home in this get-up than he has in a long time. How disturbing is that?

He's here less to have a good time and more to keep an eye on things. His discomfort with the aliens has been percolating for a few months now, and he has the events at the high school percolating in the back of his mind, so his smiles when he visits with people vary between forced, distracted, and a little sad-looking. But he's still trying to be friendly and his usual good-PR-self!

[When Robyn rushes into the heart of the party she finds that... This wasn't exactly what she was expecting from a Halloween party. The music wasn't exactly the kind she regularly danced to when no one was looking.

This was suddenly kind of awkward.

She's just going to tip toe over toward one of the waiters and grab some food for now. Maybe wait it out and see if something more lively started to play.

She's in a Cure Phantom inspired outfit. Basically a black spandex top, long white gloves, a black and white skirt with black tights, white boots that came to just under her knees. A white bob cut styled wig and green contacts. She picked out a simple black and white domino mask to finish the look for the masquerade.]
