So has anyone actually gotten anything useful out of all of this? Or has it all been just one big, confusing mess that's more trouble than it's worth? It's not like this is making life better for anyone...

[Yeah, someone doesn't sound happy. And he'll say something else in some incomprehensible language. It's rather discordant, and it's full of sharp, short syllables. Definitely not a friendly language. If anyone were to understand the language of the immortals called Undead on Hajime's original world, they'd know he's just admitted to the network that his blood is green...but it's just going to sound like a garbled mess.]

Figured I'd throw mine out there since everyone else is. Not like it's going to do any good to anyone.

[[There's a slight pause as Bakura swaps to his sketch pad and starts drawing a half man half snake creature.]]

That's definitely not what mine looked like at all. They weren't that human. Not by a long shot. Humanoid, but most of them were covered in spikes and things.

I think this one's different than the rest. There was a fuss over him.

[[he starts to sketch in a small figure, devoid of features, to show the scale]]

But I think they're all big like this.

Mine were all definitely more human-sized.

[There's a pause as he comes to a rather unsettling realization.]

I don't think that would have stopped the one that was winning all his fights. He would have been drawn to its power. It was drawn to the strongest opponents, would work itself into a frenzy over that.

[He knows that all too well.]

You have any idea as to how they behaved?

[[the drawing continues, more detail being added in. The backdrop of the palace, the shadowy echo of the priests, the mummy cast aside in the pile of finery....]]

They did what they were instructed to. Creatures born of soul, but without their own will outside of that soul.

So what did they do with these monsters? Fight?

[He's kind of fascinated by the sketch; it's much different from what he remembers...and battling monsters is all he has on the brain.]

[[The detail of the background fills in, etchings in sandy stone of pharaoh and gods, symbols that he couldn't read or understand, but felt familiar. But the pencil was light and sketchy, whereas the detail on the monster was firm, making him seem more real.]]

I think so. The priests took those they could to seal into stone. But Diabound wouldn't be sealed....

Sealed?

[He's so glad for text. Bakura doesn't have to know just how interested he is in the idea of sealing monsters away...or that he had someone in a memory saying that's exactly what needed to be done to him. Or that he wonders if the belt he's stuck with is that seal.]

And that thing has a name? Diabound?

Yeah.

[[There's a moment's pause as he details in the hair of the figure standing next to it. Even in black and white, the hair is unmistakable]]

My ka.

What happened to them once they were sealed?

[Wait a second...]

YOUR ka? That's your soul monster thing?

[Huh. This is not at all what Hajime expected. Bakura was a monster summoner of some sort, and he was a monster of some sort. He gladly would have changed places.]

Not that I have any idea what a ka is.

The reflection of the soul's true nature that can leave the body.

[[What that said about him, that something as magnificent as Diabound was born from his soul...

The pencil faltered a moment. And that it had become twisted... It was a sobering thought. All the anger and hatred that sometimes clouded his mind until he lashed out... if it could twist something like that from a god to a demon...]]

So those monsters were called ka?

[Which isn't ringing any bells at all. He definitely thinks there are different sorts of monsters at play here.]

Yeah.

It's Egyptian.

Guess I shouldn't be surprised. The drawing definitely looks it.

So pretty likely this part isn't the same.

And I don't think Diabound is in the future. That part is something different.

You think you're getting stuff from different times?

Yeah.

They don't have d10 in ancient Egypt.

D10?

[He's not much of a geek. So sue him.]

Oh. I never played anything that used one of those.

[Cards in his memories, dice in Bakura's...this just keeps getting weirder.]

They're used in D&D.

There was a game like that in one of those flashbacks. So I know they're not the same time.
