[General Log] Tuning Towers, Sept. 22 onward.
Who: Any and all!
Where: The site of Tuning Towers (and/or en route accordingly), at the heart of the business district in Locke City's downtown.
When: September 22nd and onward.
What: Following that mysterious buzzing sound to its strongest point! Perhaps you made plans with numbered associates for a trip downtown, or perhaps you went a-wandering alone to follow the noise yourself - surely you'll hardly be the only one.
[Tuning Towers, the third-largest building in the United States and Locke City's most prominent feature, from a tourist perspective in one sense and quite literally by another - look up and marvel, if you will, should you not be a bit too distracted by the circumstances.
Even if you needed to focus to tune into the buzzing in your brain at the start of whatever trip you took, you'll find that by the time you come close enough to the tower to feel a rising sensation of tremors beneath your feet - unnoticed, as far as one can tell, by the crowds, which almost never lack presence around the building - you'll be able to hear it very easily without even trying. It isn't terribly intrusive in the first couple of days after the return of the lights in the sky. As September moves on and into October, however, the intensity will grow all the more overbearing.
It is, indeed, even worse if you enter the building - only the ground floor is accessible to the unauthorized by the tower's maintenance and management or personnel of the companies making use of it. Apart from that, among the indoor crowds, you'll find nothing unusual on the ground floor - and if you'll find that the buzzing loses its strength the higher you go if you take a trip up to one of the observation floors.]

And then, because he can't fucking hear anything and shouting is a ridiculously bad idea right now, he starts for the door. Just. Expecting Derek to follow. He stops in his tracks for a second as a memory trickles to the surface of his mind, but he shakes his head and keeps walking. Great, an echo. He can focus on that later. ]
no subject
He does end up stopping dead in his tracks for a brief moment as an echo hits him. While he does try to shake it from his mind as quickly as possible, he can't avoid the sudden chill down his spine. He can spend some time thinking that over when he gets back home though. ]
It's definitely under that place.
no subject
So what do we do, dress up like plumbers and go wandering around in the sewers?
no subject
[ He's still speaking a little too loudly, not to the level of shouting but certainly above his normal speaking level. ]
no subject
[ He's come this far, it'd be lame to back out now. Sure, let's go wandering around underground with a dude who might be twice his age. Sounds like a plan. ]
All right, man, you know the way down there?
no subject
There's a way in round back.
[ This is what his life has become. Going down into a sewer, with a teenager he doesn't know, to investigate a noise. ]
no subject
DJ sighs and follows. This is like the start of some really awful after-school special. ]
no subject
Nothing suspicious about two people who clearly have no place in a sewer wandering into one. ]
no subject
DJ wrinkles his nose as they find the entrance. ]
Seriously wish I'd dressed for this.
no subject
[ If he'd known he was going to end up stomping around in a sewer, he would have worn some waterproof clothing. And a pair of high legged wading boots. ]
Sooner we check this place out. Sooner we can leave.
no subject
Ughhhh.
Around the other side of the building, DJ spies a manhole cover. He crouches down and grabs at it to lift it up. ]
no subject
Derek quickly glances around to make sure that no one is actively watching before climbing down into the hole. ]
no subject
He climbs down after Derek, pulling the cover back over the manhole after himself. Once they finish climbing, he pulls his cell phone out of his pocket and turns on the flashlight function. ]
Jesus, I can't even hear myself think down here!
no subject
It's just like in the mines!
[ Uncomfortably like the mines. Given the way the sewer is designed it's just bouncing the sound around constantly. Which is a terrible combination with his hearing. Disorientation kicking in again. ]
no subject
Still, he can see nothing apparently responsible for any of it. He chances uncovering his ears to whip his cell phone around. ]
no subject
Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. And the trembling really isn't helping him. So the sound isn't in the mines, it isn't in the tower, and it apparently isn't in the sewers.
Which leaves the obvious question. Where is it coming from then? ]
no subject
Finally, frustrated and sick of how his ears are hurting, he turns to return to the ladder and climb back up. ]
no subject
So that was a bust, for the most part at any rate. At least they know it's lower than the sewers. Which is something, right? ]
no subject
Ugh.
DJ doesn't stop walking until a good block or two away from the towers. ]
Remind me to never do that again.
no subject
[ Not that he’s making any promises. Chances are the next time something strange comes up, everyone will go looking for it again. It's really a miracle that they haven't been caught en masse yet. ]
no subject
[ His ears are still ringing, so he practically shouts his response. ]
no subject
I'll get right on that when strange things stop popping up around town.
