[General Log] Tuning Towers, Sept. 22 onward.

Who: Any and all!
Where: The site of Tuning Towers (and/or en route accordingly), at the heart of the business district in Locke City's downtown.
When: September 22nd and onward.
What: Following that mysterious buzzing sound to its strongest point! Perhaps you made plans with numbered associates for a trip downtown, or perhaps you went a-wandering alone to follow the noise yourself - surely you'll hardly be the only one.



[Tuning Towers, the third-largest building in the United States and Locke City's most prominent feature, from a tourist perspective in one sense and quite literally by another - look up and marvel, if you will, should you not be a bit too distracted by the circumstances.

Even if you needed to focus to tune into the buzzing in your brain at the start of whatever trip you took, you'll find that by the time you come close enough to the tower to feel a rising sensation of tremors beneath your feet - unnoticed, as far as one can tell, by the crowds, which almost never lack presence around the building - you'll be able to hear it very easily without even trying. It isn't terribly intrusive in the first couple of days after the return of the lights in the sky. As September moves on and into October, however, the intensity will grow all the more overbearing.

It is, indeed, even worse if you enter the building - only the ground floor is accessible to the unauthorized by the tower's maintenance and management or personnel of the companies making use of it. Apart from that, among the indoor crowds, you'll find nothing unusual on the ground floor - and if you'll find that the buzzing loses its strength the higher you go if you take a trip up to one of the observation floors.]

[Vanessa frowned as she came close to the towers. This was definitely where the buzzing sound was coming from and the longer she stayed around, the more she recognized it as the noise from the mines.

She needed a closer look.]

*When didn't Kari appear out of nowhere behind someone?*

This racket is going to split my brain. You too?

[doomedtheworld]

[That is actually a very good question. To her credit, Vanessa doesn't jump when Kari pops out of thin air behind her.]

Yeah, me too. It's the same sound I heard down in the mines.

[lackinginfaith]

So it's one of their machines?

[doomedtheworld]

[She shrugs.]

I don't know. I never saw what was causing it down there.

[lackinginfaith]

Tch. All we have to do is investigate the area to find whatever's causing the noise, then.

Well, as long as it's that easy.

[She glances up at the towers.]

We might as well get a closer look.

[lackinginfaith]

All right. Thankfully, they chose someplace normal to visit.

Or they built something normal on top of something weird.

[She grits her teeth against the weird buzz and heads up toward the Towers.]

Depends how long this has been going on.

*Kari grimaces and walks along with her, trying to keep an eye out.*

I guess so. How long have these been here anyway?

[lackinginfaith]

I can't remember offhand, but quite some time. It'll probably say on one of those tourist plaques.

Probably.

[Not that it was really important right now anyway but it might be useful somewhere down the line.]

Are you hungry? We should probably try to look like tourists.

[lackinginfaith]

*She nods.* There are some restaurants in the towers themselves where all the crowds show up to.

I guess that's good enough. Let's see if there's any part where this noise gets any louder.

[She didn't really expect to infiltrate the secret underground lair or whatever it was that was going on here, but maybe they could at least pinpoint a center to all of this.]

*Kari nods and walks through. Whenever someone looks at them, she gives a practised smile and quickly turns her head away. Ugh, this buzzing. How long is this going to last...*

[The stupid buzzing was just getting worse. She's doing her best to look as natural as possible but it's tough with her head buzzing away. She turns her head, trying to pinpoint a direction it's coming from.

She stops suddenly in the lobby, looking off in a direction where it seems to be the loudest, standing still for a couple of seconds when--]

OW! [And she claps a hand over her ear, causing a few people to jump at her sudden outburst, like something just bit her.] What the fuck--!

*Kari gets hers at the same time, heart quickening and eyes going wide. She looks over at Vanessa and frowns.*

That.

[doomedtheworld]

[She glances around, frowning at the looks getting her way and tries to nonchalantly prod at the stud that had suddenly popped into existence, stabbing through her earlobe straight from the ether.

She grits her teeth and forces herself to lower her hand from it, lowering her voice.]

You too, huh?

[lackinginfaith]

*A nod, and a gesture to the nearest door out.* Change of plans. *She gestures to what's probably a security camera to convey what she means.*

[Time to go? She tosses a glance up to the camera from the corner of her eye, hesitating. Having an earring pop into being already in your ear stings like hell but she's pretty sure she can bear it, and people have already forgotten about her shouting.

Still, she doesn't know what Kari got or how urgent it might be to get out of there. So she nods a bit, moving for the door.]

*Kari walks, looking as casual as she can with that infernal racket going on. Once they're far enough, she nods at Vanessa.*

I didn't want to risk another echo trap like the water. Though it looks like it's too late for that. What happened to you?

[doomedtheworld]

[If the sound wasn't bad enough, now she has that stinging in her ear as well. She manages to hold herself back but as soon as she's far enough, her hand goes back up, rubbing at her earlobe gently and feeling the new addition under her fingertips.]

Are you kidding?

I think we're okay.

[She turns the side of her head toward Kari and pushes some of her short hair aside to show the simple, basic bronze stud in her ear.]

I think the stupid thing pierced my ear.

Pierced your ear? That can't be sanitary.

[She gives her a look.]

That's not really what I was worried about.
