[plot] Invasion: Day 1
Who: EVERYONE + Returnees
What: Day 1 of the Invasion!
Where: EVERYWHERE

Description: A minute after midnight EST, some people around the world who used to be numbered yet have lost their echoes since suddenly have all their pulses returned to them.
At 4pm EST, a child's laughing voice resounds in the air all around the world, remaining for over a minute and staying longer where it gets caught in the echo between buildings, mountains, or other echoing surfaces. Not long after, people in areas where the moon is visible (like those in Europe) will see pink lights on the moon, like a pink aurora borealis from above going all the way around the moon, and then the whole moon changes shape. Literally. It unfolds into a giant serpent that soon can be seen from everywhere around the world as it moves to wrap around the world, tossing and turning head and tail as if trying to hit and bite nasty flies. ...And if someone gets out a telescope, they'll realize that the serpent is doing exactly that: There are tiny spaceships attacking it and trying to pass by it, but for now it is holding up. ....You might maybe rather get to safety than get your telescope out though, because the serpent sometimes smashes down into the earth in its tossing and turning, and while it doesn't hit inhabited areas that still causes tsunamis and earthquakes. Giorgio A. Tsoukalos and Erich von Däniken will announce that it's totally aliens!!! SEE THEY CALLED IT. Ancient astronauts that gave the earth culture are coming back to us!
What this day is for: This day is mostly for reconnecting with returnees and dealing with the last wave of plot echoes. It is also for catastrophe relief efforts for areas that are hit by tsunamis or earthquakes. The only echo boundary that will be devastated in this way are the Galapagos Islands. Characters that can fly or have special swimming abilities are especially invited to help with rescuing people and delivering first aid. (Icly, the talks with the first wave aliens also happen here and they will be wrapped up or dropped after the 4th of May. You are still welcome to jump in and talk to an alien!)

Vegas, Locke, network | mostly open
[The third day of handing out Miracle Bouquet Lights is going... reasonably well, surprisingly. Winter still has enough left to distribute them in a somewhat limited capacity for... probably the rest of today? It's not a huge number, but she'd thought for sure she'd be out by now. Rikka's world must have had a lot of problems. Or a lot of hands to distribute Miracle Lights, at least.
Her rotating schedule of helpers ensured her friends and partners would all get some screentime while she was out on distribution, but today, she's more or less let whoever wants to come along join the party. So she's out and about in Vegas, seeing who's here and talking up everyone she meets. Are you helping her pass out Lights? Are you someone she knows that saw her yesterday? Or is this, perhaps, a chance meeting with someone that's suddenly a lot more than you remembered her being?
Winter only stays in Las Vegas until a little before 11 AM; that makes it right about 1 PM when she gets back to Locke. A brief trip home to load up on more Lights, and change into something a little warmer, and she brings a folding table from inside the house, setting it up on the walk and putting her smaller Tupperware container of Lights on it, along with a supply of various other things - a few bottles of water, a picture of herself and Lily in a small frame, a sandwich on a paper plate, just little things that help her feel at ease a bit. Mostly, this is one last excuse to hand out Lights to people walking around and leaving the business district, or maybe those heading into town for lunch. But it's also a much-needed break; being everywhere is handy logistically, but it's mentally straining. Being able to stand outside her own house and breathe the calm air is a nice change of pace.
Once she's had what she feels is ample time to relax, which is more or less an hour and a half, she moves downtown, setting up out front of the public library right around 3 o'clock. Mercifully, she misses Badri and the other aliens, setting the table up again and continuing to talk to passers-by and Numbered alike. What she wants to do is hit up Espresso Yourself and visit with Lily for a little bit, but work is work, on both their ends. Still, every so often she'll zone out and stare through buildings in the direction she knows the coffee shop is, before she catches herself, shakes it off, and laughs nervously at anyone that caught her doing it, before getting right back into the swing of things. Here, again, she might not necessarily be alone, if someone wants to join her little mission.]

[It's at about the point where her focus is rapidly approaching shot that it comes. A child... laughing? But there isn't anyone around. It has an... ethereal quality to it, somehow... and once she realizes what has to be happening, her heart sinks, even as every nerve in her body tingles with a need to be a certain, specific somewhere. She'd been in the middle of recording a new voicemail greeting when it came, and the confusion, giving way to panic, is total. Calling Raquel to her, there's a now-familiar bright blue flash in front of the library, and Cure Diamond is off like a rocket, paying minimal heed to people and objects in her way. She's not so much running as she's skirting the ground, and she's going too fast to turn - she lands on walls with a soft touch, bounding off them in the proper direction. If something's in the way, she throws out a hand and springs off the top or side. Nothing else matters, aside from maybe her other friends or maybe the aliens.
No, right now, her most important person is at work, and possibly unaware of what's happening.
When she gets to Espresso Yourself, she takes one look inside, glances at Lazarus apologetically, and then immediately turns on her heel and bolts back toward home on the shortest route - Lily probably had the same idea. Loose paper rustles and kicks up behind her as she runs, and while she's trying not to hit anyone, there's a certain point where she just doesn't care about that very much anymore.]

The upside to her rapid transit is that she makes a lot of headway very quickly, and when she finds the shock of electric purple hair, something inside her floods with relief, and she leaps the last of the distance, arms out, shouting, "LILY!" Yes, they'll probably tumble a few dozen feet at the speed she's moving. Yes, she looks insane just now, even through the worry firmly plastered on her face. No, she doesn't care.

[It's a grave situation. Things are... going to hell very, very quickly. She'd made that video three days ago expecting something to go wrong, but... seventy-two hours isn't enough time at all. They're not ready. What... will happen to them?
Not that she's letting it show on the outside. No, on the outside, Winter's becoming something akin to the commander that's barking orders and trying to keep her team in one piece. She's not calm, but she's not panicking that she's letting show, either. There's a tempest of emotion that's almost visible even through her laptop's camera.]
It's starting. I don't know what those spaceships are, but they're trying to come here. And the light over the moon, before it unfolded into that thing, suggests that's the last Animal we're getting. It's up to us from here. That's our Enemy, up there, and they want to take this world from us. I don't think I'm very interested in letting that happen, though.
We have very little time and a lot to plan, because sooner or later, the serpent is going to miss one. And that's where we pick up. I need suggestions, avenues of attack, logistics, locations, tactics. We cannot lose this fight, or everything we've fought for these last two years was for nothing! We... we owe too many people too much to let that happen. [Banagher, Annie, Russel, everyone that had been part of the group once, let alone everyone that had died for the cause... all of them deserved justice, too. She can feel tears in her eyes, but it's too late to care about that now. She lets them fall, eyes full of hurt but strong as her tone drops, dark and dangerous.]
Nobody is going to take my home from me. Not now, and not ever. Everyone who can help, this is a call to arms. They may not be here now, but they're coming for us. Let's give them a warm welcome.
[The feed cuts out. Winter checks twice before she slumps over on the couch, silently sobbing. How did it come to this...?]

Galapagos, Action/Network, Open
There's been a lot of running around from the moment the snake awakened. In fact, she'd been busy earlier, helping out with the Miracle Bouquet Light distribution, but everything everywhere leaped into overdrive when that massive serpent awakened, and found her sprinting to the Tsukuyomi home, with one brief pause for a chat along the way...
Reports flooded in. That giant serpent; the moon; Earth's ultimate guardian? It seemed like it was protecting them from something, and that something was alien invasion, what their guests had been prepping the Earth for, in one way or another, this whole time. The thought of how they'd hamstringed themselves fighting their own guardians rankled, and this one was causing devastation as well.
The aliens hadn't landed. There was only one thing for it, and before she could get in touch with everyone who might care, she'd made her way to the islands, using Seles to help move things, lift things, her incomplete Spanish and the incomplete English of everyone else facilitating just enough communication to work.

[ The crashing and crackling of Seles shoving heavy objects aside, then drifting through the air carefully - a perfectly timed return of an ability - was muffled, the Mashin itself facilitating this communication from within. ]
At the Galapagos Islands helping with the relief effort. Sorry everyone for running off so suddenly, but I figured I have some of the best 'muscle' for moving debris, so I wasn't really thinking.
Keep me updated. If it comes to a fight... when it does... that'll be even more important than this, and I'm gonna give every ounce of my power to make sure the Earth is safe.
[ Thank goodness she's got something occupying her mind and body enough to stave off the nerves. ]

I'll be trying to keep everyone abreast of the situation - it's not much, but our living room is the war room for now. "Celine, get ready to move. That moon serpent has woken up, I'm sure you know what that means. Arthur, Dani... get to Locke, Celine and I will be meeting up with you there."
It goes without saying that America would be where the Numbered would be needed most. She sends out another message, this time to the Network in general.
"I'm getting Arthur, Dani and Celine ready and in one place. Wherever we're needed, we'll be there.
We'll show those invaders we won't give up our home."
Voice for now
"Hello?" A pause. "I noticed the moon serpent." Her voice was a little unsteady. She had likely just had an echo. "Take your time. I need to take care of a few things. I'll leave the door unlocked so just come in when you arrive."
She hung up as quickly as she could, her lips tightening as she began to dial her family and friends one by one. It would take some effort but those that were not somewhere safe needed to be convinced to move there.

I know I don't have to point out the obvious, so I won't. What we do need... is to put our heads together. Those of us who are able to, anyway, and...
I ran into Badri Barkley. He spoke as if Geoff Benwick was trying to help, as if he was using his power to make people trust him to just expedite that, although I... I'm not sure if I can believe that. If anyone's been able to see him, or find him, that might be helpful, though. Because it's one of the only real leads I've got, and...
He says his "brothers and sisters" are coming, as if that wasn't obvious enough.
[She frowns. She's holding herself together, but the worry is practically shaking in her eyes.]
There's something about the aliens we've missed, it feels like. And that it might be something important.
For now, though... we need head counts. We need to figure out what to do because that thing in the sky might be fending them off for now, but it won't last. I'm not saying anything Winter hasn't, I guess, but...
We've still got a lot of power we can level at any threats that come our way. And I get the feeling they're going to be coming our way. If there's anyone out there, anyone you have to protect... get them someplace safe. Because I get the feeling we're going to have our own hands full enough here.

To everyone else with access to the GNX-III's, I'm deploying to help in the relief effort there. These things may be made for fighting, but I figure they can deal with the conditions there and provide the support people need. We can get there through the Ghost Zone.
Anyone else... I'd like it if anyone could help me keep abreast of the situation. I don't want anyone catching us by surprise. There's way too much going on for us to be caught with our pants down.
And... stay safe. We can't afford to get hurt before the real trouble starts.

[Amy sighed to herself; she tried to talk a big game, and show herself as authoritative and supportive, but deep down she was incredibly nervous. These past few weeks training in the GNX-III had refined her reflexes and her abilities, but at the same time, she couldn't calm the part of her that was still incredibly nervous deep down.
Something was coming. Her thoughts kept straying towards the threat looming on the horizon. And yet, there was debris that needed to be moved, floods that needed to controlled, people that needed to be protected from the surf and earthquakes being caused by the so-called savior wrapped around the earth.
She needed to focus. She needed to concentrate on the task at hand. But though she was managing, it was still incredibly difficult]

[it had been just another day for Fuyuka. Keeping tabs on the news, speaking with her clients... the most interesting thing that had happened to her that day was her wrapping up a case between a couple that was divorced. And tonight, she had a new activity that had been added to her routine since she and Natalie had regained their status as Numbered: training with their powers.
Then... then came 4:00. Fuyuka was hurrying back to her apartment when she heard the laughter that made her blood run cold. What soon followed was the earth shaking, and the shadow of something massive coiling around the earth.
As stern and focused as Fuyuka was normally, she had to struggle to retain her composure. In any case, there were a great many upset and frightened people between herself and her home. At one point, she would try to call Natalie directly and get in contact with her]

It seems the time for our reckoning has come, if what I can tell from everyone else is evident. I'd comment on how it hasn't even been a month since our return, but I don't know what good it would do.
It seems the speculation others gave about the animals a while back (yes, I read up on that) is true, given the moon itself has revealed itself and appears to be our first line of defense. At least... I hope so, given I don't have any idea how we can fight something so immense.
Rest assured, I'll be ready for action when this all begins. We've all come this far, and I can do no less. Whatever information you'd all like to share would be helpful, all the same.

Obviously, you all can guess what is to come by now. Our various talks with the aliens have all but confirmed that we are about to be invaded, and that we are about all that stands in the way of them.
That much is easy to surmise. For the rest, however...
I highly suspect that they will be striking us first in the echo zones. It makes sense - if they had no reason to be rid of us, they well could have ignored us and dealt with the rest of the world, leaving us in our own little bubbles until the end of the world came.
No... they will come for us first. And the cities we reside in. Which means... more than us, your families are about to be right in the crossfire. I have... conferred with my parents. They have connections, beyond my own, between their own fortune and ties they once had for government work.
It only goes so far as the United States, however - if you have anyone within Locke City or Las Vegas that you need somewhere safe, tell me. That for now, is what I can offer...
Once they come, all that remains is my sword.

[Someone is a huge nerd who owns a small camera drone. Someone is using it to be dramatic.]
[The camera opens on a splendid view of Locke City, from a high rooftop on the Locke City University campus.
Someone is silhouetted against the setting sun. Their feet are not touching the roof. They hover about three feet above it, their feet haloed by a pinkish light. They are fiddling with something in their hand -- probably a smartphone they're using to control the drone remotely.
The light behind them means that their features are in shadow, but certain details can be made out. Two splendid steel wings spread from their back, and the angles of their body are all wrong -- entirely mechanical, entirely alien. A pair of red eyes glow brightly from their face, barely highlighting their cheekbones -- do machines even have bones? Cheek... ridges?]
[They lift the cellphone slightly, to get a better angle for the microphone. When they finally speak, their voice is horribly grating -- high pitched, screechy, whiny. But to some of you, it is unmistakably the voice of Christobel Starsky. No one else sounds that interminably annoying.]

Some of you may remember me.
For those that do not, greetings. I am Starscream -- formerly Lieutenant Commander Starscream of the Decepticons. With no high commander, I would normally inherit the title High Commander, Emperor in Exile of Cybertron, but, well. There are no Decepticons for me to command here, and Cybertron, if it exists, must surely be in some other universe.
Thus, I am merely Starscream.
[She pauses. She turns her head slightly, looking over her shoulder toward the sunset. The alien angles of her face are highlighted at last -- those who knew Chris can clearly see her in those features, and yet... she is very, very inhuman now.]
I had a human name, once.
[She turns back to face the camera, plunging her face into shadow once again. All that remains are those eerie red eyes.]
I don't think I need it any longer.
[She reaches out a hand. The drone flies closer, and for a second, you can almost see her features -- smooth red, silver, and blue metal -- before she turns it off, leaving only the audio feed.]
It has been almost exactly one solar cycle -- ah, year -- since I last remembered my true self. I need information. I need information about the enemy, about developments... everything I've missed. I understand we have teleportation devices now for troop movements, but I need more than that.

[But he doesn't waste time on pleasantries; he doesn't know how to do those anyway. His own voice is inflectionless, bland despite his interest.] A teleportation device, as well as an intermediary dimension, yes. The aliens that arrived here in the aftermath of Wise Snake have made a show of being agreeable, but that is likely all it was. And the creatures that lie below the ground are our allies, not enemies.

[Jack had never managed to get his car replaced. The insurance payout took forever to come, and it was far too small when it actually did arrive. By then, he'd been used to commuting via public transit and the power of his own two feet... which was just what he was employing, staggering back late from obligatory post-work socialization when the magic happened. First came the rush of memories, leaving him momentarily dizzy. Or dizzier, at least, and grabbing for nearby garbage can to help keep himself upright. And then comes the rest, and it's like undoing your tie or pulling off a pair of too-tight shoes. He goes from a 5 foot 10 human to a 7 foot something bird monster.]

[Not again. Not out in public again. This is ridiculous. But he's a somewhat drunken bird monster this time, one giving considerably fewer fucks than the last time. He pushes back from the garbage can, passes a clawed hand over his face, and sighs deeply.
Without even thinking that it's at all necessary to change back into a human form, he resumes his walk home. Let 'em stare. The High King of the Avians needs to advertise a little, if he really is back in town and ready to go.]
[Network, 2 AM EST, private to Hajime Aikawa]
Hajime. Hajime, where in the hell are you? I'm... I'm back? I'm back. It's all come back.
[Jack looks human, as well as very tired and kind of bedraggled, leaning in towards the video feed, elbows supported on a desk and hands coming up to rub at his face.]

[Network, next afternoon]
[A much more human looking Jack pops up on a video feed, apparently in some sort of sparsely decorated office. He is not amused. But who is amused, right now?]
Well. This can't be good, can it? They're finally getting off their asses and invading? I almost thought it wasn't going to...
...yeah. Uh. I don't even know if anyone remembers me. Jackson Isaka? Sometimes a big blue and black bird man? Yeah. I'm barely sure of what's going on anymore, but I want to help.
[He reclines in his seat, hands templing, head bowing slightly.]
If they put anything on the ground, I can help fight it. And if we need to convince the authorities to do anything on short notice? I have suddenly become very good at convincing people to do what I want.
[There is a pause.]
Okay. I can mind control people.
[He averts his eyes, frown deepening.]
Anyway. Whatever. You all probably know what needs doing better than I do. Point me in the right direction and I'll do what's needed.

The view is of the sky, unobscured by buildings. Wherever Shiro is, he’s quite high up. He also looks significantly different; he still has his fluffy white hair and his white skin with a bluish cast, but now his eyes are piercing golden and glowing, with slitted pupils, standing out starkly against black sclera. He is wearing a loose fitting white kimono, or yukata-like garment, and there seems to be a big sword strapped to his back. He has on his ridiculous black outback hat, the shade of which makes the glowing of his eyes even more apparent.
When he speaks, his voice reverberates eeriely. But mostly, he looks tired. Maybe even a little sick? He looks a bit haggard, one way or another ]
Do you people realize how hard it is to get to the East Coast from San Francisco when there’s barely any flights and I ain’t got any powers to use to get here?! I ended up flying to Atlanta! ATLANTA! And I hitchhiked from there!! And WALKED. A lot of the way, I fucking WALKED! [someone didn't know about the teleporters... and didn't think to ask]
