{002} LOG: Sightseeing in Neuschwanstein, Slumming in Vegas [OPEN]

Who: Misa Amane and you OR Doppel!Misa and you! Specify in subject which you want.
What: Misa goes to the castle to investigate a sudden personality switch/doppelganger phenomena. Doppel!Misa, meanwhile, skulks about the castle grounds trying to avoid conversation and find something interesting to do. Doppel!Misa can also be found in Vegas.

When: February 10th for Misa, February 10-15 for Doppel!Misa.

Option 1: Normie

Misa had never imagined that she might wind up in Germany of all places, barely a week after her long anticipated journey to the United States. But thanks to her introduction to teleportation technology (what) here she was, possibly having left her stomach back in the States. But despite the lingering queasiness and spinning in her head from having just undergone the impossible, Misa approached the castle at a brisk pace. There was too much excitement to do anything else. Echoes, Others, a teleporter, and now doppelgangers? Every day Misa half convinced herself that she was on the receiving end of the most elaborate prank in human history. But she wasn't, because this was all real, and she was going to be the one to solve these mysteries and bring them to the public! Starting with why a man who looked an awful lot like Lazarus had shown up on the network in Germany (and wearing a Hawaiian T-Shirt), when Misa knew him to be elsewhere (and of a different aesthetic). If the answers to this new phenomena were anywhere, they would be at this castle.

Option 2: Doppel

This place was exceedingly boring. Too many people talking and nothing to do; Misa's personal hell. Doing her best to avoid the various loud groups surrounding her, Misa hugged the wall and kept her head down, throwing off every don't talk to me vibe she knew. She was not drunk enough to deal with being in this place. One of those things needed to change.

He glances at her slowly, nonexistent eyebrows raising.

"That's a great idea," he says enthusiastically. "I would really like to give you a personal tour, Misa. Believe me, mine is far better than anything you'll get from any of the 'official' guides..."

His airquotes are as sarcastic as they come, and slick with bacon grease.

"That sounds great... but I have a kind of weird question for you first," she says, smiling as if half joking. "Have we met before in person?"

"That's a weird question," he agrees, with a returning smile that's just a touch more sly. "Are you saying that you've forgotten if we have? Or that you've met someone who looks a lot like me?"

He sounds slightly guarded about that second part. There's not supposed to be someone who looks like him running around right now; he's personally seen to it.

"I remember us meeting, I wonder if you do! Or if it was really you that I met. It seems like a lot of people have long lost twins popping up..."

She shrugs, knowing that her words are absurd, but it's the truth. "So tell me, have we met?"

He glances away for a second, perhaps thinking it over. It likely looks suspicious as hell.

"Yes," he replies, smiling wider. "We have met. Like I could forget a pretty face like yours."

Misa raises an eyebrow. That is indeed suspicious as hell. "Alright Mr. Charming, where did you meet me?"

There's a blank-faced pause.

"Locke City," he says, confidently, with the air of a kid who knows the correct answer because he got to peek at the teacher's answer keys before the test.

He'd like his A now, please.

That answer gets a C- at best for vagueness. Misa looks decidedly unimpressed.

"It's a pretty big city," she says, waiting for him to elaborate.

He shrugs noncommittally, trying to play it off as understandable forgetfulness regarding unimportant details.

"Either my coffee shop or my school?" he guesses, knowing that those are two places "he" spends a lot of time.

While he isn't wrong, Misa is still left fairly unconvinced. But there are other ways to find out for sure if this person is a doppelganger or the real Lazarus with some sort of personality swap (she hasn't decided which option is crazier yet).

"It was the school, remember? It was really nice of you to offer me a place to stay," she says conversationally. "I guess it is you. I was kind of looking forward to meeting one of the doubles people are talking about! No offense."

"Right, I remember," he exclaims, holding up a finger declaratively. "It was definitely the school. I remember it like it was yesterday, now, and the offer still stands. I'd happily give you a bed to sleep in."

Oh ew. Even though she's pretty convinced this isn't the real Lazarus, Misa still feels super uncomfortable staying with him now.

"How can you say that when you know I have a boyfriend?" she demands, hoping the faux-outrage isn't too over the top. The real Lazarus would know that isn't true. This should at least settle if he's making things up as he goes along.

"Calm down! It would be ridiculous to offer you a place to stay without a bed,"he reasons silkily. "I thought you'd appreciate being a stranger in a strange land with a bit of furniture."

He seems highly amused by her indignation.

Misa's expression remains highly skeptical. "I still don't think my boyfriend would like you saying things like that," she emphasizes, to verify that he isn't going to call her out on not having one.

He smirks. "I'm guessing your boyfriend is the jealous type. Is jealous your type? I personally think it has its very compelling merits."

Highly unamused, Misa decides that this is for sure not Lazarus. With a personality like this, if he knew she didn't really have a boyfriend, he definitely would have brought it up by now. So that means... he really is a double. A clone? Something like that. She reaches out to touch his shoulder experimentally.

"Jealous isn't my type," comes her reply, delayed. "I like guys who are mature, and intelligent. And handsome."

So far bizzaro-Lazarus is zero for three.

Uh-oh, she's unimpressed. He bites his lip, giving her a wide, innocent, puppy-dog stare. He shrugs against her touch, seeming to crave the contact even while he doesn't reach out himself for more.

"So you're saying I have a chance?" he asks.

He feels solid enough. Misa isn't sure what she was expecting, but illusion or hallucination is out of the equation. The way he leans into her touch makes her awkwardly take her hand back, uncomfortable in a way she can't quite name.

"That depends," she answers, giving him a small smile. "You have a good chance of taking me on a tour, but no chance at anything else."

"I still would love to take you on a tour," he says emphatically. "I can make the best of it, I'm sure. Would you like to begin soon? I can take you all over the castle and show you parts of it that you wouldn't have access to otherwise..."

"You work here?" she asks, obviously surprised. "I thought you were on vacation."

[dead_black_eyes]

"I could work here. I certainly know the castle well enough," he boasts. "Just because I'm on vacation doesn't mean I can't do things I enjoy. In fact, it should mean that I can do those things, even more than I usually do."

Misa's eyes go to the castle, then back to Lazarus's double, clearly uncertain about this. "Just don't get me into trouble..."

[dead_black_eyes]

"What?" his eyes go wide, shocked by the very notion. "Get you in trouble? Never! Do I seem like the kind of person who would do that to you?"

"Maybe not on purpose, but you seem like a rule breaker," she says, hands on her hips. She is fairly certain that she is not even supposed to be in Germany, having bypassed any border check via transporter. Being arrested is on her list of things to avoid. "Behave, and you can lead the way."

"Oh, a rule breaker..." he breathes the words, sounding impressed and enamored with the image. "Well, don't you think that some rules are just made to be broken? The stupid ones are, at least. But I'll behave to the best of my ability. It's a bit of a hike, but not far!"

With that, rubbing briskly at his exposed arms and the scars that almost look blue against the frost-kissed, pink flesh, he's taking off toward the castle and trusting Misa to follow.
