[sylvanguard]

[Ariel pops up using the video feature of her laptop. She is apparently sitting on her bed with an expression that is a combination of bemused and slightly worried. In one hand she seems to be spinning a long knife or one sided dagger in her hands.]

Given everything that has been going on lately, rampaging cars, pulse generating blackouts, glowing light thingies, it really shouldn't seem too odd to suddenly find a pair of daggers under my pillow on my bed... Really. But it is. Want to know what is even more fun? Saturday I couldn't even use a sword to save my life. Today I'm suddenly a knife-dagger master. Or at least I think I am. It's the same sort of knowing that I had when I found my bow at the second hand store.

[Oh damn.] Nothing. Really it was nothing!

[espigeonage]

Oh?

[He draws the word out in an arch way.]

So, did you walk in on someone, or did someone walk in on you?

[sylvanguard]

[Sigh.]

I got walked in on. Nothing happened! It was just painfully awkward. But now it's kind of funny.

[espigeonage]

Ahhh. Naked people are funny. It's a fact of the universe, kid.

[Bright with malice he searches her face.]

Sooo, can I guess this someone was a he?

[sylvanguard]

[Her face is getting redder by the moment.]

yeeeessss?....

[espigeonage]

Well, you're straight. So. Was he someone you like?

[sylvanguard]

[Good lord. Julien was too good at this. She just sighed and flung her hands up.]

Fine! I'll tell you. It was Killian. He walked in on my just after I'd gotten out of the shower while I was staying at my aunt and uncle's for a night. This was back in May. Just before he disappeared for a bit.

[espigeonage]

Huh! That does sound awkward. [His head tilts as he pictures something.] You and Killian, huh...

[Julien hides how his mood sinks, telling himself it's just as well. He gets uncertain himself around her uncertainty, and trying to guide her out of it would have felt weird. Mentor-student-y, which isn't good for a relationship. Anyway, he didn't really have a chance.]

Cool. I like him, he's all right.

[sylvanguard]

{A part of her wants to say that there wasn't anything between them, just because she wanted to keep it a secret a little longer. But that was an outright lie and she wouldn't do that.]

We just decided to start dating last night... after realizing we had a thing for each other for awhile now.

[espigeonage]

Ahh, it's not unrequited! That's good. Communication's always a must. Congratulations!

So, you have anything planned?

[sylvanguard]

Well I was planning on going to Vegas for my birthday so this kind of falls in nicely with that?

[espigeonage]

Vegas! Wow. Don't, um, get murdered? Or put all your money in slot machines. That's always embarrassing.

[sylvanguard]

Yeah... but at least it doesn't have monster cars there? And it will give us some time to hang out without friends and family hanging around.

[espigeonage]

You had a run-in with that, huh? It's not got those yet but I've heard there's vermini. Are you looking for somewhere away where you'll still have your pulses?

[sylvanguard]

That was my idea originally even before things happened between Killian and I. I've been wanting to go to Vegas for my birthday for awhile now.

[espigeonage]

Well, that'll be eventful. Hopefully not too much so - you'd better keep in mind that it's probably not going to be always relaxing.

When are you looking to go?

[sylvanguard]

End of the month. My birthday is in July. July first to be honest. I'm hoping it will be a little more relaxing than here. If we keep or heads down, there shouldn't be too much drama, right?

[espigeonage]

Do not count on it! That's the only other place in the country, the world really, where we've got this shit going on. Dally a little in places on the way, that'll be quieter.

Will you be back for your birthday, or are you staying over?

[sylvanguard]

I was planning on staying during the week of my birthday, but When I come back plan on doing something with friends and family.

[espigeonage]

That's good, then! It'd be a shame not to see you for your special day. Especially since you were there in mine.

[sylvanguard]

I'm still having a party here in Locke, just. A little later! So you can still be there for it... in a way!

[espigeonage]

Hah. All right, then! Do make sure to keep your eyes peeled out there. Remember a Numbered girl with powers was murdered there and the killer's still on the loose.

[sylvanguard]

[She nods to him, and flashes him a smile.] Don't worry, I think I can hold my own in a fight these days... or at least give as good as I get.

[espigeonage]

I hope so. [He says that softly, as if to himself, then shakes his head and makes himself brighten.] Good girl. Don't let yourself get lulled by the lights, stay limber et cetera, and you can come scold me for paranoia.

[sylvanguard]

[Her smile falters a little as she hears his tone of voice. Guess what Julien, she has hearing to go with those ears now.]

Hey Juls, it will be okay. I promise? No one is going to take me down, I swear.
