[General Log] Tuning Towers, Sept. 22 onward.

Who: Any and all!
Where: The site of Tuning Towers (and/or en route accordingly), at the heart of the business district in Locke City's downtown.
When: September 22nd and onward.
What: Following that mysterious buzzing sound to its strongest point! Perhaps you made plans with numbered associates for a trip downtown, or perhaps you went a-wandering alone to follow the noise yourself - surely you'll hardly be the only one.



[Tuning Towers, the third-largest building in the United States and Locke City's most prominent feature, from a tourist perspective in one sense and quite literally by another - look up and marvel, if you will, should you not be a bit too distracted by the circumstances.

Even if you needed to focus to tune into the buzzing in your brain at the start of whatever trip you took, you'll find that by the time you come close enough to the tower to feel a rising sensation of tremors beneath your feet - unnoticed, as far as one can tell, by the crowds, which almost never lack presence around the building - you'll be able to hear it very easily without even trying. It isn't terribly intrusive in the first couple of days after the return of the lights in the sky. As September moves on and into October, however, the intensity will grow all the more overbearing.

It is, indeed, even worse if you enter the building - only the ground floor is accessible to the unauthorized by the tower's maintenance and management or personnel of the companies making use of it. Apart from that, among the indoor crowds, you'll find nothing unusual on the ground floor - and if you'll find that the buzzing loses its strength the higher you go if you take a trip up to one of the observation floors.]

After having heard of the stories of the infamous buzzing at the Tuning Towers, curiosity had gotten the worst of Luci. Cutting out early after school, the blond made her way downtown, expecting maybe a low hum around the perimeter of the building. She didn't quite expect what she encountered, though. The ground under her shook, the air almost moving with the sound; it was almost like being in a hive. Swallowing, she stood at a storefront on one of the adjacent corners, feigning interest in what was in the window, all the while weighing her options. Should she get any closer? Could she? And, more importantly, how could the people passing by not hear or feel any of this?

The sound of footsteps behind Luci was quiet, stealthy almost.

"Looking to experience some adventure for yourself?"

Nearly jumping out of her skin, Luci turned, putting a hand to her chest. She let out a small sigh of relief once she realized who it was. "What are you doing here?"

"Same thing you're doing here, I'll wager," Ez said with a grin. "I'm gonna check the place out."

[ladyofluminosity]

Luci nods. "I want to see what's really going on here. Why others can't see to hear or feel it while the numbers can. I'd call it more of a research excursion than an adventure, although," Her expression softens a little, "Now that I'm here, I'm not actually sure I have the nerve to get closer. I'm still kind of questioning it."

"Research expeditions ARE adventures, Luci!" Ez says, moving toward the tower. "C'mon!"

He extends his hand out to Luci.

"Sometimes you just gotta take the plunge."

She looks down at his hand, shoulders slumped, before taking a deep breath and pumping herself up and grabbing his hand. "What the hey. Let's do this, before I lose my nerve."

And with that the two entered the tower, to be met with the horrid buzzing that people around them seemed to be ignoring.

As soon as they passed through the doors, it hit like a wave--the buzzing like an active hive, and the ground, almost feeling like it was moving, breathing below her feet. Making a very conscious effort to not wince, she glanced toward Ez, speaking low. "Where do you suggest we look first?"

"Good question. Man this place is obnoxious. We should check to see if there's any place that's obviously guarded. That'd be my first guess."

[ladyofluminosity]

"But if it's guarded, how are we supposed to get in to take a look?"

[indy_wannabe]

"It may require us to bend the rules a bit and sneak past them."

[ladyofluminosity]

She gives him a little bit of a look. "What do you mean by 'bend the rules' exactly?"

[indy_wannabe]

"Sneak in, of course."

His tone is somewhat hushed.

[ladyofluminosity]

Luci, however, has a slightly harder time keeping her voice down. "What?!" Making sure no one heard her over the hustle and bustle inside, she whispers again. "What? I didn't agree to sneaking in. I'm pretty sure that's against the law! What if we get caught?"

Ez waves his hand.

"It's fine! We're just some stupid teenagers trying to sneak in because we're bored. They'll give us a lecture and maybe call our... oh..."

[ladyofluminosity]

She purses her lips together, figuring he hadn't thought of that, among other things. Still, what options did they have? "I don't like this."

[indy_wannabe]

"There may be another way. You distract the guards by asking them questions or whatever, I sneak in."

[ladyofluminosity]

Luci blinks a few times. "That could work."

[indy_wannabe]

"Can you do the whole innocent inquisitive thing? I'm sure there's something about this building you can ask about."

[ladyofluminosity]

"I think I can do that. How long do I need to keep them busy?" Technically talking to someone and asking questions wasn't breaking the law or doing anything wrong, right? One could almost see the logical leaps going on in her head.

[indy_wannabe]

"If you can give me a few minutes I can probably get up the tower. Do you have a cell phone? If we exchange numbers I can text you what I find."

[ladyofluminosity]

"A couple of minutes? That should be doable. Where do you want me?" She rattles off her phone number to him.

[indy_wannabe]

"Try to get that guy distracted," Ez said, punching in her cell phone number. He send her a text to verify, and turned down his phone."

"There are some stairs over there, I'm gonna try to slip into them. Shouldn't be too hard."

Luci nodded slightly, making her way toward the guard he mentioned. She just had to talk to him for a few minutes, right? If she didn't see Ez actually go up the stairs, she wasn't doing anything inherently bad. Wasn't that how that worked?
