{005} Network Video + Log
[Misa is obviously freaking out a little. He eyes are wide, she's breathing fast, and she is newly blonde since she last appeared on the network. But her latest echoed change isn't anything that's visible.]
The lights over Tokyo— something is happening, I'm going home. If anyone is coming and needs a place to stay, my apartment is open to you. It's not very big, but I'll make room for anyone who needs it. Bring a sleeping bag or air mattress if you can. Private message me for the address, and if you have a doppelganger either do it in person or by phone. I don't want any uninvited guests showing up.
[[ooc: feel free to handwave Misa giving your character this information, as long as they are not a doppelganger and we have some previous CR.]]
-----
Who: Misa and ALL THE PEOPLE
What: Crash at Misa's one-bedroom apartment during insanity in Tokyo. SLUMBER PARTY. There will be separate header threads for different weeks, plop your person anywhere.
When: April 10-28
Where: Tokyo, Misa's place

[The way he stares is something that's foreign to practically everyone except Lazarus and Near. They're creepily similar, and there's language in the way he holds the other young man's gaze, something akin to remain vigilant.]
Re: [Action]
Don't be so sure I'll forgive you for being a pervert, Lazarus. You don't want to turn into your doppelganger.
[Action]
[Just watch. No idea what he's watching for, but . . . Well. Nathan is the observant sort as it is.]
No, I do not think any of us would like to turn into those. [He's seen his on the network. His doppelganger is embarrassing. And the less said about Lazarus's, the better.]
[Action]
Perhaps we should simply move on from this topic, as it bores me.
[The ball's in your court, Misa.]
[Action]
[She breezes past both of them, settling down on the couch. Moving on from this topic is all she wanted in the first place. Her expression is decidedly icy as she looks at the two of them, wishing they would go away so she could examine the notebook more thoroughly or dispose of it or just have a moment to herself to figure out what to do.]
[Action]
[So what precisely are they supposed to talk about now?] In any event, that's hardly why any of us are here, is it?
[There. That's sort of steering the conversation somewhere, isn't it?]
[Action]
[Wow, nice save, Nathan. While Lazarus isn't exactly surprised, he's still reeling from the strangeness of the last few minutes and it would have been really nice if someone could essentially give him another topic.]
So, speaking of that reason, I'm optimistic about Parliament. Between Nathan and I, I'm sure we'll be able to make whatever case we need to.
[Maybe that reminder of his confidence will raise morale and get the metaphorical ball rolling.]
[Action]
Two scary looking foreigners, one of them a kid... you're going to have to look the part if you want them to take you seriously.
[Action]
I have told you before that I am not a child . . . [Absolutely no bite in his voice. But apparently he has to correct her again. And while he won't actually argue it, he has no idea where she gets the impression that he's scary-looking. Strange-looking, he understands. But scary? He's the furthest thing from that.] But I suppose we could use some help.
[Action]
I'm a quarter Japanese. You mean that isn't enough between the two of us?
[Sarcasm in spades.]
[Action]
Clothes that fit would be a start.
[She glances from Nathan to Lazarus.]
And clothes that don't look like they came out of a dumpster.
[Action]
[He curls a finger into his hair at her assessment. It isn't as though this is the first time he's been criticized for his manner of dress, but considering their intentions, having it pointed out right now is making him feel terribly self-conscious.] Probably, yes. [He thinks "dumpster" is a little harsh, but he's not arguing.]
[Action]
You seriously think that what we're wearing will make any difference at all? If our arguments are strong enough it shouldn't matter what we look like.
[Action]
[She sighs heavily, the venom in her voice slowly starting to dissipate as she gets her vicious barbs in. It's one way to deal with how very vulnerable her echoes have left her feeling.]
I'll take you both shopping, before the hearing.
[Action]
If you insist it is necessary. [He isn't thrilled about the prospect. He can't imagine clothes that fit being very comfortable.]
[Action]
Shopping... I really hate shopping. Can I just pay you to not make me go?
[Action]
It's totally necessary. I want you both to make the Numbered look good, and they're sure to pay attention to your plan once I'm done making you both over!
[Action]
[So this is the point where he unwinds his finger from his hair, opens the backpack and pulls out a recently-acquired toy robot, of course. Perhaps this will distract him from his discomfort better.
[... Nathan, you just said you weren't a kid.]
[Action]
He tries to find a good middle point between staring and looking away when Nathan takes out his toys. He's not really in a place to judge when it comes to weird habits, but it's a little disconcerting.]
[Action]
... What are you doing?
[Action]
... I just need to do something calming. [That's essentially all it is, really. Nevermind the strangeness of it. Nevermind he's never done this before. He just feels like it will relax him.]
[Action]
He take a deep breath, then ultimately decides to hold his tongue. He made a decision a long time ago to mentor Nathan without trying to change him, and if that means some eccentric behavior, it's not his place to call a kettle black.]
When are we going? I'd prefer to get it over with.
[Action]
[Misa is still staring at him, expression distinctly judgmental. Playing with a robot calms him down? Like a child's blanket, or favorite doll? All the makeovers in the world aren't going to help people take Nathan seriously if he pulls out those during the meeting.]
[Action]
[And he finally just can't take the staring anymore and shoves the toy back into the backpack.] I'm sorry.
[The toys are a harmless thing, but clearly they're wrong somehow and he should stop. It's bothering her and he doesn't want to bother anyone.]
[Action]
[Lazarus shoots Misa a glance of the significant kind.]
It's hurting nothing. Do what you need to, Nathan.
