[Misa is obviously freaking out a little. He eyes are wide, she's breathing fast, and she is newly blonde since she last appeared on the network. But her latest echoed change isn't anything that's visible.]

The lights over Tokyo— something is happening, I'm going home. If anyone is coming and needs a place to stay, my apartment is open to you. It's not very big, but I'll make room for anyone who needs it. Bring a sleeping bag or air mattress if you can. Private message me for the address, and if you have a doppelganger either do it in person or by phone. I don't want any uninvited guests showing up.

[He doesn't say anything, takes a seat, sliding the backpack off his shoulder. The whole prospect of the shopping trip and a "makeover" and speaking to the government is just all piling up and making him feel less and less comfortable. The hair-twirling isn't enough to calm this.

[So this is the point where he unwinds his finger from his hair, opens the backpack and pulls out a recently-acquired toy robot, of course. Perhaps this will distract him from his discomfort better.

[... Nathan, you just said you weren't a kid.]

[Don't think he doesn't notice that somehow, she's actually cheering up the more bristly and reluctant he gets. He sulks unapologetically, even if he does see her point, and the fact that he doesn't argue it is probably ample proof that at least part of him is willing to accept that she's right.

He tries to find a good middle point between staring and looking away when Nathan takes out his toys. He's not really in a place to judge when it comes to weird habits, but it's a little disconcerting.]

[Misa stares outright as Nathan pulls out a toy robot. What was that about not being a kid?]

... What are you doing?

[The staring really isn't making him feel any better. He fidgets with the toy.]

... I just need to do something calming. [That's essentially all it is, really. Nevermind the strangeness of it. Nevermind he's never done this before. He just feels like it will relax him.]

[Lazarus sighs into one of the awkward pockets of silence. Of anyone, he can appreciate self-soothing behavior, but there's being decently subtle about it, and then there's... this.

He take a deep breath, then ultimately decides to hold his tongue. He made a decision a long time ago to mentor Nathan without trying to change him, and if that means some eccentric behavior, it's not his place to call a kettle black.]

When are we going? I'd prefer to get it over with.

We can go as soon as Nathan is done playing with his toys...

[Misa is still staring at him, expression distinctly judgmental. Playing with a robot calms him down? Like a child's blanket, or favorite doll? All the makeovers in the world aren't going to help people take Nathan seriously if he pulls out those during the meeting.]

[He ducks his head down even further as the staring continues. That is not helping. The more uncomfortable he gets, the more he wants to focus on the toy.

[And he finally just can't take the staring anymore and shoves the toy back into the backpack.] I'm sorry.

[The toys are a harmless thing, but clearly they're wrong somehow and he should stop. It's bothering her and he doesn't want to bother anyone.]

Don't be sorry.

[Lazarus shoots Misa a glance of the significant kind.]

It's hurting nothing. Do what you need to, Nathan.

[Misa returns that glance without much remorse, but her expression does soften when she turns back to Nathan. It isn't her aim to make him feel bad, regardless of his strange behavior.]

I'm going to take those before you talk at Parliament, but there's no harm in playing with them now. Just... get it out of your system before we leave, okay?

[It's difficult not to feel bad when somebody looks at him that way. Some people, when faced with those looks, get defensive and protest. Nathan, on the other hand, assumes that he must deserve them and crumbles.]

It's fine; I understand. The meeting is tomorrow, so we should not waste any time. I'm alright.

[Not quite, but he isn't going to pull the toys out again so soon after being heavily judged about them.]

[Lazarus gives a soft, almost unnoticeable sigh, but lets the moment pass.]

If you're sure, Nathan, I'll get my coat and shoes so we can make good time. I'd suggest you do the same; is that all right, Misa?

[She suspects the comment to be passive aggressive, but Misa replies as if taking it at face value.]

That sounds great, I'll get ready too.

[Shopping is the last thing on her mind with the recently acquired Death Note hidden in her room, but at least it will get these two nosy guests out of the building.]
