So on the 24th, Thorir went to find Jovan and just ...never returned. Seeing the gold hoard gave him the worst echo of them all: Dragon sickness.

He's been wandering the vast lands of gold since. After a while, he found Thror's crown, and then even later a very regal looking coat. Both look terribly out of place over his jeans and Icelandic woollen sweater. He's neither eating nor drinking, not unless someone makes him, and refuses to leave the hoard.

Maybe you re the first to find him, or you talk him out of this, or bring him food, or...?

Awaken him, yes! Also make him grab his sword and look around, eyes glowing in the dark as he narrows them to see the source of the voice.

An intruder.

Startled, Emilia flew back a few feet, her wings carrying her aloft. For most people, all that could be seen of her is her own red eyes glowing in the darkness.

"What are you doing!?"

Besides, how can she be an intruder when she was shown the way in?

A girl. His eyes are not as good as that of some other races - he cannot see in complete darkness, but enough light reflects from the precious metals, carried around the mountain from small openings and lamps, to let him see more than the red eyes.

"What are you doing here?"

"You showed me the way in, remember?"

Emi was perplexed and wondering just what was up with him here.

[disdainfully]

"I showed you the way to the settlement."

He remembers that. Why ever did he think that it was a good idea to show people outside of his inner circle the insides of the mountain, he can't be sure that he can trust them - not even the people in his inner circle are trustworthy, in the end.

"I've done a little exploring, but I didn't expect to find, well, all this"

She's eyeing him now, even she noticed that the guy was acting rather strange. Come to think of it, she'd not seen him for a while now.

[disdainfully]

"And you won't tell anyone who isn't numbered about it."

It's not even a question, though it should perhaps be; much more of an order.

She dislikes his tone, but at the same time, it'd lead to all sorts of rabble turning up, looking to cart off all this gold. It sounds like it would be nothing but a complete pain in the ass for everyone.

"Hmph. I'd hardly want this place to suddenly fill with vagabonds."

[disdainfully]

"Vagabonds and thieves." He nods. Nobody wants any of these in the mountain. He knows how greedy humans can be, lusting after gold that is not theirs.

Certainly not rich snobs like Emilia. All that doesn't explain why he was out here.

"What on Earth are you doing here? And for how long have you been here?"

That is a good question. He has no idea how long it has been.

"Since we found it. Isn't it majestic?"

"Since you found it? How long has that been?"

She was going to ask anyway, because she's starting to get a little concerned. Protecting your own possessions was perfectly fine, but sleeping in the middle of them was just strange.

"A couple of days."

Just that it has been much longer, and he really doesn't look well enough for it only having been a couple of days. Dehydrated for one, lacking sleep, and yeah, he has gotten rather smelly after not showering for well over a week.

tempted to give Emi back her vampire sense of smell right here...

And that would be one major reason that the vampire is not going closer to him than she has to.

"Seriously? You look like you just crawled out of the worst slums imaginable. Smell like it too."

That makes him pause for a moment. Does he? He doesn't smell anything that would be out of the norm (noses, like ears, get used to a steady state of things).

"I have a crown." The comment has actually startled him enough that this is more of a statement than an insulted attack.

Well, it'll drive her away, certainly.

Emi crosses her arms with a small huff.

"...I can see that. I think it's time you went back to the settlement and cleaned up."

"No." Suddenly, hostility is back in is posture. "I cannot leave this unguarded; who knows who might find it in the meanwhile? Others have found it before you, and by far not the most reliable or trustworthy people at that."

I'll need to think of a 'trigger' for this echo...

"Aren't the only people that have been in this mountain Numbered too? It'd seem there'd only be one to be concerned about."

Though, she has a strong dislike for Jonvan anyway.

And really, he distrusts many people. But Jovan really is his main concern.
