[ Any of the Numbered who have set foot outside today are likely to have seen some of the rather unique posters plastered around on every available building/lamppost/fence/beloved family pet. Observe the glitter-saturated horror. ]



[ Y E A H. Regardless of which echo boundary they're in, the notices are everywhere. Some lucky Numbered may even have had one shoved into their mailbox! GOSH. There's also an address for a weddng chapel in Vegas (confusing many Fussen locals in particular) and a note that masks are mandatory and will be provided to people who don't already have one. How considerate!

C'mon, Numbered Specials. Party with Badri and forget all the horrid stressful things that are happening. ]

[The feathers are soft and strong, like structured silk, overlapping each other; if Elian digs past the surface they are downy, too. A lot of heat comes off his arm, and he has a particular smell - similar to fresh sweet bread, yeast and warmth and feathers and sweetness. Even though this mass is all feathers this many big ones get very heavy when held out, but Julien's used to it now.]

Yeah? Well, if you're not spending too much time in Locke it's not the death sentence it used to be, going out looking weird. So... robot, right?

[he's trying /not/ to dig. to be fine with this, because he's still feeling awful about his etiquette. he's usually so good with it, too! he rubs a feather between his fingers, the decides it's only fair as he lets it go and reaches for his sleeve]

Something like that. Whatever it is, it's given me these.

[he rolls up the cuff of the coat, then of the undershirt, and then pulls them both back. his skin is...normal colored, but there's what look almost like scars on it...but far, far more intricate than what you get from hurting yourself.

they're almost like grooves in the skin - on the 'top' of his arm, by the back of his hand, it's almost like engraving or scrollwork, and splits to follow up the sides. on the bottom of his forearm, by his palm and running up the length - it's more like circuitry, with what almost look like tiny gears 'linking' both sides]

They faded while I was away - or at least I don't remember having them - but I do remember resigning myself to wearing long sleeves in summer, while I was aware of all this. [he makes a face] I may have to do so again.

It isn't my scene, honestly. [He glances at Natalie with a quirk to his smile.] But I had a feeling you'd be coming to find me with violence on your mind if I took a night in. Besides... [His attention turns to Fuyuka as well.] Call it a hunch. Where our local aliens go, trouble is likely to follow. Between you and me, I'm not certain it's worth the hassle.

[Holding out a hand to his face as if to keep something private, he adds in a stage whisper:] But to appease certain people, I figured I should make an appearance. [Sighing and shaking his head, he continues in a normal voice.] Not that I had plans tonight anyway.

[Julien's pupils expand and contract visibly even though the veil as he leans in a bit, folding his wing back against himself. His color vision is extraordinary and skin is slightly transparent to him, veins and capillaries clear under it, but the light in here isn't as good as full day.]

Well. That's interesting. Just on your arms, or all over?

[He smiles ruefully.] At least it's fall. Still warm out here, though.

[at Natalie's comment, Fuyuka couldn't help but feel a bit flustered, clearing her throat]

You and I are actually of a similar mind, Mr. Steele. They do seem to attract weirdness, whether it's intentional or not. That being said... Natalie and I were both hoping to speak to you.

I watched that cartoon as a little girl, by the way. The one your outfit comes from.

[it's as though someone's taken a tiny little knife and carved the designs in his skin. there's texture there, but it all looks as much a part of him as anything can be. just...deliberate, and incredibly intricate. someone may very well have been carving a work of art.

he touches his collar, then gestures down]

Neck to toe. I believe it started on my back, and then spread from there. Itched quite a bit coming back, I can tell you.

[she pulls away now, still smiling]

[She looks strangely satisfied at the throat clearing, but blinks at the mention of the aliens and trouble.] Oh, that is true... I hope there aren't any earthquakes this time. [It's almost... odd how nonchalantly she mentions that, which she only picks up on a couple seconds too late and just rolls with it.] Either way, it's good for you to keep an eye on things, right?

[A long beat before she adds:] No pressing files and dossiers, huh?

[Natalie, that's almost a bit mean.

Either way it's almost as if a lightbulb goes off over her head at Fuyuka's mention of wanting to speak with him.] Oh right, right! Ah... since we've all remembered similar connected things, for one...

Yeah, but they could have asked someone who knew better...

[she sighed, and forced herself to eat the rest of it, swallowing it as if it were a bitter pill]

Earthquakes, monsters... it's not even necessarily their fault, but it's a problem. [Kevin does snort a bit at her follow-up barb, but doesn't comment, as both of Fuyuka's mentions catch his attention.] Speak to me? I have something about what I expect is Ms. Tamura's other self, but beyond that I don't know that I have anything in common. Do I?

...And I plead the fifth on the cartoon this costume may or may not have been inspired by.

Yikes. [He kinda wants to touch the markings. Turnabout is fair play, but Julien touching things is also always kind of a process now, so better not.] Guess it's a good thing they're not on your hands and face then. I've known people to pulse tattoos but nothing quite like this. Huh.

Hmph. [Fuyuka closed her eyes and shook her head] I would at least hope that you watched the original, and not the poorly localized version they inflicted upon you Americans.

... Anyway, Natalie and I also share memories, so there's a good chance you are connected to me as well. We could have been colleagues, or perhaps even siblings. It's worth comparing notes at least.
