Where: The Thorsson backyard.
What: Sparring! Characters who have no weapons yet but want to try out something, or who want to try out new weapons, are welcome as well!

Imagine that there was a network post asking for people to come to a afternoon of sparring and training/trying to force echoes. There was a specific emphasis in the post for people to not bring powers or firearms into the mix, only all kinds of short range weapons - swords, axes, knives, maces, halberds, anything really. A part of the idea, as was explained, was not only to provide a place to try out different weapons but also to have multiple people use weapons in a small area, allowing for battle echoes.

So the day has come! The place is the backyard of the Thorsson's downtown store/private buildings, a relatively large areal closed off with buildings belonging to the family on all sides.

There are all kinds of weapons - real ones and some larp weapons as well - on a table in a corner of the backyard that cannot be used for sparring since swings, a sandbox and a bench are located there. Protective gear like chainmail and helmets can be found as well. Some refreshments in form of apples, juice boxes and bananas, all in open boxes, have been placed next to them along with water in bottles.

So those that brought no weapons can borrow those proffered, and those that brought their own ones can try out others as well.

That's what my uncle and dad and everyone's for, though. They don't have to squish me.

Could they not squish you?

....they're about as big as I am. Squishing just happens.

[Dogs.]

You lost me.

If the dogs keeping an eye on you means that they squish you, shouldn't that mean that your father and uncle keeping an eye on you would squish you, too?

Oh! No, why would it? They can just pop in and ask how I'm doing. The dogs feel the need to sit on me.

Maybe you can learn them how to talk.

Teach them how to talk, and uh. Dogs aren't supposed to be able to speak English and have conversations with humans.

[SIIRI WHERE ARE YOU YOUR DOG IS CHATTY]

[Someone needs to make up for her mistress obviously.

But Killian is lucky, Siiri is currently getting done with a sparring and thanking her partner, and will soon come over.]

I don't thing they are supposed to speak other languages, either.

Dogs aren't supposed to do a lot of things. Squish me is one of them but hey.

[At this point, Siiri has spotted them and is coming over, and Floweregg turns her head at her and her tail starts wagging again.]

That is my mistress.

[Killian looks up and waves at Siiri, looking a little amused]

Did you know your dog talks? More than most little kids?

[She considers that. The silence stretches on for almost a minute.

And then she'll pick the dog up, sit down and place her back down in her lap.] It's that unusual?

[She cannot really compare all that many children, the only one that she's really been around a lot was her little sibling.]

[Killian barely resists the urge to facepalm]

For a dog to talk? Yeah, kinda.

She's well behaved.

[Floweregg will get scratches behind her ears and get petted a bit and then placed on top of Siiri's shoulder which she seems to enjoy as a vantage point. High up!]

She's still a chatty six-year-old. Just, y'know. A puppy.

How old are you?

Eighteen. Why?

Is that old?

[He shrugs]

It's not, like, super young but it's not old, either.

And adult by law, but not in practicality.

[She looks at his bow.] Your weapon?

[Killian shoots her a look for that first comment but he nods]

Yeah, got it from a pulse. Looks like I was an archer before.

The ability, too?

Yup. Like, scarily good if you ask me but I don't actually know all that much about archery so maybe I'm a poor judge? Either way, though, I can shoot it.
