[Ever since his run-in with some Blood Keys, Suzaku's been on the mend. That's natural and of course, entirely normal. But it's also frustratingly, uselessly slow. Things are happening around him that he can't do anything about. Or rather, he can't do anything about them without popping his recently-acquired seams.

However, there's only so many things he can hold off from doing. Training is certainly not one of those things, and so he's investing his time making sure he doesn't become entirely useless by the time he's fully recovered.

Shame he can't go to the dojo like this, but his front yard will do]

[ better believe that he has a bone to pick with his half sibling. when going to pay a little visit, you expect that the patient is going to be in the freaking room. however, that had not been the case this time. it doesn't take a genius to figure out that his brother had fled. he just had known that Suzaku would do something stupid sooner or later.

this means that Van knows the only other place to go is where Suzaku lives. he's pretty livid at the moment - why shouldn't he be? he fully intends to march up to Suzaku and tell him off for being so hypocritical and other garbage like that.

buzzing at the gate? that's a thing he's going to do. angrily. with many much buzzing. and if that doesn't work...

Van has a pretty good set of pipes. ]

[Fortunately for Suzaku (or maybe not, all things considered), he can hear the buzzer pretty clearly from where he is. Looking toward the gate, the figure some distance away is one he's familiar with...although he can't recall Van stopping by Tony's place before.

Putting that aside, he makes his way across the lawn, wooden kendo sword in-hand. Not like he'd just toss that on the ground]

[ and Van is there, foot tapping impatiently. his arms are crossed and looking none too pleased. ]

You better hurry up and let me in.

[ so he can do the next best thing after. ]

Never been called slow.

[When he reaches the gate, he keys in the passcode. With a light creak, the gates slide open]

What's going on?

[ what's going on... what's going on. that should be HIS line here.

but instead what happens is that Van pulls back a fist and launches it to connect with Suzaku's jaw. ]

Idiot!

[Suzaku didn't expect friendly fire, so it's no surprise that punch finds its mark. He stumbles back a half-step before catching himself, wide-eyed.

And then he seems to recover himself, his stunned expression giving way to puzzlement. Nevermind the red seeping through his shirt around the collar, he's got stitches that didn't appreciate that strain just now]

That could be for anything. Want to elaborate?

[ Van just pushes on inside. still letting his face contort in anger. ~~no guilt there seeing red. nope nope not happening.~~ ]

What do you think it's for this time?

Guessing seems like time wasted.

[Not like he doesn't do things that provoke people on a routine basis or anything, right?

After he enters his passcode again, the gate eases shut]

I'd guess, and if I was wrong, you'd just get angrier.

[Or this is his theory]

[ it's true. Suzaku has a way of grating his nerves like no one else does. ...but only likely because Van cares. ]

[Caring and sharing, it can be fun]

I was taking up space somebody else could use.

[ and there might be a little bit of hurt that his brother didn't bother TELLING him "oh btw not there anymore." but then again things like that he really shouldn't expect. ]

I'm nineteen years old, I don't need a guardian for that sort of thing.

[Besides, Tony would've gotten him out of there sooner, he's dead sure of it]

Then why not just check yourself out like a normal person?

Got steered back to that damn bed every time I tried.

Gee, and you didn't think that meant that it was probably for a good reason?

My injuries didn't necessitate staying there that long. It's a waste when others have a greater need.

Breaking out though? Couldn't you just get a commanding officer or something?

Considering what happened, the less I involve them, the better.

[There follows a very, very long pause. His expression darkens. The silence continues.

It's not the kind of thing he really wants to tell Van, but he doesn't think he should lie to him either.

It was apparently broadcast on the network]

I think I...killed them.

[His voice cracks on that one word. That thing he must've done. He looks away at some patch of grass.

Even if he's a soldier, he'd never seen combat. There was never a reason for anyone to die. And hell, he's a pilot]

[ and people have been talking about the morality of killing cyborgs on the network lately. it's something Van has been scrolling through because he could care less. it's not a matter of people or whatever. if it's in self defense... then it is in self defense.

but Suzaku... Van's anger dissipates. he appreciates the honesty. feels a little guilty because of that voice cracking. his half brother cares... but doesn't seem to always want to feel. ]

We should probably get that bandaged up...

[ the place Suzaku is bleeding from. a peace offering. it's not judgmental or anything, but respecting that Suzaku is troubled by this. ]

[The response surprises him, and it's obvious in the way he seems to suddenly remember where he's standing. It's not a reflection of what he thinks of Van, but rather of himself. Casualties are never right, he's strongly against them.

And he very likely caused five. He can't imagine who else possibly could have.

Lifting a hand to the collar of his shirt, he finds it damp]

Stitches. I'll have to close it.

So get to it then.

[ all the while Van seems to be inviting himself in. bratty younger brothers, man. ]

Not sure you want to be around for that...

[All the same, he shrugs and turns to head for the door. Van's stubborn, he knows that much]

I probably don't... But if I'm not who knows how long you'll dick around before actually doing something about it.
