[Text is backdated to Tuesday the 15th. For over a week now there have been more and more diseased or dead birds. A lot of roadkill in heavy-traffic areas. Anything inclined to eat sick pigeons is feasting.]

So that disease I pulsed back a few weeks ago? Doesn't affect humans, but it looks like it makes birds sick. Mostly pigeons. I've seen others with traces on them, they have the virus, they're just not dying of it. I guess people race these guys, too? Because there's a club and a website for that and they're pretty worried. It's spreading very fast.

Some of them get better if they're kept inside and watered. The fanciers were talking about apple cider, and garlic, and watered down gatorade, so I'm trying those too. There are too many to get them all. But I've been picking some up and keeping them in this one house in the Dead District. So, I guess if you're inclined and you can catch any birds, and they're not pretty much totally gone already... Let me know. Probably don't bring them to the clinic though.

It won't hurt humans. You don't have to worry about that.

For anybody new to this network, my name is Naomi Kaufman. I work down at the city forensics lab, and I'm here to gauge interest in an idea I've been considering lately.

For the scientifically minded among us and/or other parties interested in finding more about what's going on here, what would you say to the idea of collaboration? I suspect - or at the least, I hope - that research and experimentation may bring to light new information about our situation.

For example: previously it was found that the chemical they added to the water in August seems to react specifically to those on this network, which implies (but doesn't confirm) that there may be a physiological difference between us and people outside this conspiracy. But if that difference exists, is that an inherent difference or somehow imposed? If the latter, what about us has changed?

And that's only from the matter of the water. There's bound to be more to be found from previous events and findings, although I'm not well experienced with anything else. Still, it may be that by pooling resources or specific areas of expertise and looking more closely at evidence we have already, we may be able to discover new information about this whole business.

I can't promise that this will go anywhere, but if it does then it would also require that people volunteer avenues of investigations - potential experiments, results of past echoes, suspicious items or samples from previous incidents like the water in August. Someone brought up the matter of trying to find out more about those who have experienced changes transforming them into something other than human, but that would require the cooperation of those who already exhibit nonhuman traits. All of this is strictly voluntary, of course.

Ah — ! You do work both ways! Thank goodness. I didn't think of this number for a long time, until I started to hear that awful buzzing noise just recently. I thought maybe it had an expiration date.

[ She lifts a hand to tuck some hair behind her ear and clears her throat. ]

A-anyway, hello, my name is Chloe... I've done what reading I can since I learned I could, um, connect. Things seem very... chaotic for everyone right now. [ Her look turns soft. Are you ready to be helped, are you. ] It's only natural to be wary, and I can't offer very much, but I want to help however I can! So please consider it. My family owns a little bit of property outside of Locke if anyone needs a place to stay where there aren't so many people. The buzzing is also quieter. I promise you wouldn't be imposing, but if you're worried about that, the upstairs of our barn has been renovated into a room since we had our new stables built. It's kept very clean. And I own a truck, if anyone needs help getting around.
