Who: Shion/Xion and you!
What: WARKING. WARK WARK WARK. Also known as Shion doesn't have a social life lately. This needs to change badly.
When: Monday evening.
Where: Her part-time job at the ice cream shop!
It'd been a while since she'd touched her notebook. Of course-- some of it had had to do with her course work. And some of it with where she was at now. Summer jobs. Gotta love 'em. Or maybe not. But it was a good distraction. And okay for the most part. Save when the crazy kids made a mess of everything with their sticky fingers and their sugar rush antics. But there were perks to it, too. Like, you know. Free ice cream. And relatively happy customers. And was "good distraction" mentioned in that before? Ah, let's just list it again.
Only that was... really the thing that day. Because all that being said and done, it was only a good distraction if there were actually customers around. Which there.... weren't at the moment. Keeping busy in other ways could only go so far. Could only wipe down the counters, tables, and cases so many times before that got mundane and who knew when was the last time those windows got a good cleaning? Yeah... She wasn't about to touch those. But with some much time to kill yet...
She took a good look around back and forth to see if her co-worker was looking before starting to doodle onto the condensation of the case...

Ice cream run.
And so, the Dian couple burst into the diner. With determination! And soon, they stepped up to the counter. With determination!

Normalcy would be even better when it actually happened. Which it seemed like it didn't want to happen. Because seriously. She was used to sports teams or young teens zipping in like that. Not... them. Definitely not.
Which might explain the way she jolted when she heard the door slam open like it did, bell swinging like crazy. She took a moment to just... blink at the couple that now stood before her. ...And blink again.
Oh. Right. Words. "Uh... Can I- help you...?" You do not see her slowly wiping off the case where she was writing something, nope...

"Yes! I would like a scoop of cookies and cream!" His voice was loud and more than a little boisterous. Miria immediately followed.
"And I'd like two scoops of Rainbow Sherbet!"
"Please and thank you!"
Both say this with a completely stoic demeanor and sincerity.

As she worked on the other, she couldn't help but inquire, "Do you always... you know. Talk together like that? In unison."

With that somewhat random thought in her head, Winter found herself peering into the windows of the ice cream parlor, Raquel held in her arms, a small bag hanging from her shoulder, and a look of curiosity on her face.

It was there that she spotted a girl staring in. Not particularly at her which was a relief, but... hm... And she was holding a stuffed animal? Little bit old to be carrying one of those around? (Shh. She totally doesn't own some still.) But whatever made her happy, Shion supposed. Still, maybe she... Shion finally scooted around the counter, crossing through to the door. She opened it carefully so as not to smack the girl outside with it before beckoning, "Uh... We're still open. Just a little dead."

With the door being held open, she scooted inside quickly, sighing, and taking a long look at the coolers - what kind of ice cream to get...? Along the way, though, she glanced at the girl that was working the shop - she wasn't sure she remembered this girl, though not having been here for a little while might have helped with that.

"Are you.. new around here?" Not to... you know. Be rude. But she couldn't help but feel like she was getting that vibe.

The classiest first conversation in person clearly.

mostly for Ciel. At that point, he wasn't willing to backtrack to the closest grocery store - but hey, there was a convenient ice cream place right ahead. It was summer, ice cream was always good in summer, and Ciel would probably prefer it over any sort of cupcakes or whatever. So, with a little tinkle of the bell, the door opened and a young blond man stepped in, bag over one shoulder as he glanced around.

Least to say, when she looked up to see who popped in, she couldn't hide her surprise. "Oh, hi!" Ciel? Ben? ...Not sure. They were identical, Ben had said. Gambling could prove to run ugly...

Had she been in a class with him? He tended to be more outspoken in classes than just walking around town, so maybe she recognized him from that? She looked about the right age.
no subject
So, to that end, that. Well, only meant one thing. But uh... How to break the ice without sounding crazy. She took a moment to glance over at the backroom... then back at Ben. Then back at the room. Then back at the Ben again. And she might be... waving him over. Get closer to the counter, sir.

And damn was he tired.
But what was that? Feeling his sweet tooth acting up at the sight of the shop sign, he shifts his weight on his skateboard and adjusts his vector as the wheels glide over the concrete. His direction carries him to the door of the ice cream shop -at a speed and angle that probably should have pancaked him against the glass. Instead he pushes the door open and uses the metal floor plate to help kick his board up behind him for his hand to snatch up as he walks in with the telltale chime behind him.
Oh look. Someone he knew. Sorta.
"Heh, you look as bored as I feel sometimes." Ciel remarks playfully with a smirk.

Oh, wait. He was talking to her. She shook herself out of her daze, repeating the words in her head. Finally, she emerged from her thoughts with a shrug as she leaned over the counter a little. The vaguest of smiles crossed her face, perhaps a bit on the embarrassed side. "Aren't most part time jobs boring?"
no subject
"On a plus side, least it's air-conditioned in here, which is better than I can say for out there." Ciel gives the shop a quick glance around before returning his attention to Shion, "Anyway, I'm gonna try not to get you in a bind with your bosses. So what flavors do ya have here?"

"Hot day outside. You have it easy right here, you know. You can work in this cool place all day next to some of the best food people ever came up with."
Walking up to the counter, he leans over it with an elbow and slips Xion a five dollar bill. "Two scoops, one chocolate, one rocky road, topped off with chocolate sauce."
no subject
"Guess I can't deny that. You know-- being around the best food ever. I wish we could live off it. I wouldn't mind eating ice cream all the time." She popped on the second scoop of ice cream before heading for the dispenser. "I think... I tried to convince my parents once when I was little."

"The trick," he began, "is to save enough of your allowance so that nobody catches on. Grown-ups are always about not letting kids have too much of a good thing."

((So sorry this is so late!!))
He was pulled from his imagination when he saw the new girl hovering around. She looked completely lost, and feeling some strange sense of responsibility to her Adrian approached, smiling gently and unknowingly turning on that inherent vampire charm in his blood.
"Don't worry, it's not always this quiet, I promise."
It's fine! I've been super slow here anyway,
All the same, him suddenly speaking like that made her jolt. She looked up as she leaned a little more than perhaps necessary against the case she'd been doodling on, breaking into an unsure smile. One that grew progressively less so as he approached. "That's good. I mean... a job's a job and it'll help with college. Just when it gets slow like this..."
((omg darling Xion, don't be scared of Adrian <3))
"You can try new flavours too, if you like." he added, tucking some hair behind his ear, holding eye contact for a moment then looking away towards the window he had been gazing out of. "The boss is out now so... I can let you try some, if you want?"
No worries! She's not scared so much as new-person-wary!
