წ Second Sunrise || Open Log
Who: Shion/Xion and you!
What: WARKING. WARK WARK WARK. Also known as Shion doesn't have a social life lately. This needs to change badly.
When: Monday evening.
Where: Her part-time job at the ice cream shop!
It'd been a while since she'd touched her notebook. Of course-- some of it had had to do with her course work. And some of it with where she was at now. Summer jobs. Gotta love 'em. Or maybe not. But it was a good distraction. And okay for the most part. Save when the crazy kids made a mess of everything with their sticky fingers and their sugar rush antics. But there were perks to it, too. Like, you know. Free ice cream. And relatively happy customers. And was "good distraction" mentioned in that before? Ah, let's just list it again.
Only that was... really the thing that day. Because all that being said and done, it was only a good distraction if there were actually customers around. Which there.... weren't at the moment. Keeping busy in other ways could only go so far. Could only wipe down the counters, tables, and cases so many times before that got mundane and who knew when was the last time those windows got a good cleaning? Yeah... She wasn't about to touch those. But with some much time to kill yet...
She took a good look around back and forth to see if her co-worker was looking before starting to doodle onto the condensation of the case...

So, to that end, that. Well, only meant one thing. But uh... How to break the ice without sounding crazy. She took a moment to glance over at the backroom... then back at Ben. Then back at the room. Then back at the Ben again. And she might be... waving him over. Get closer to the counter, sir.

But approach he did, more and more mystified as he walked. "Uhh... I... just want some ice cream..."
no subject
At his request, she responded maybe just a little louder than usual, "Oh, sure! What can I get you?" In the meantime, her hand rose up to hold a finger to her lips before she leaned forward. When she spoke again, her voice was that of a whisper. "Ben, right? You were at the competition with Ciel?"
no subject
He winced at the volume (louder than it should be to begin with, and he was right there), but once she leaned in and started whispering, he paid attention. People usually didn't whisper without a good reason, after all. "Uhm, yeah - he's my brother."
no subject
So, one quick nod later and she was... doodling on the condensation again? Wait, what? But as she was doing so, she managed a, "Sorry, I couldn't really hear you. Could you tell me what it was you wanted again?" At least this time she used her usual volume. But she was also a little bit distracted as things start to shape up on the case.
"s e c r e t n u m b e r s c--"

...That is, until he sees what she's tracing on the ice cream case. And then double-takes when the letters actually catch up to him. "Wait a minute, you're on that thing?"
No, he's making no effort to keep his voice down.
no subject
"Keep your voice down." She quickly smeared what she had mostly written before she started toward the cones, plucking out two of them before starting on the order. "Anyway-- yeah. I... talked to you before. You know. Your brother, the-- fall-" She might have hidden her face behind her hair a moment as she finished the one cone and started on the cookie dough. "-That... was me, yeah."
no subject
"Sorry - I need those to go." Probably should've mentioned that before she got started, but he was concerned with her well-being. But Ben does keep his voice down to a lower level as he responds. "You're the one who kept writing, not speaking."
no subject
"Hey, would you trust just anyone on that? I mean I hate to sound paranoid, but we really don't have any idea who everyone is on there. It's a big city." She plopped the scoop of mint off the cone and into a small bowl before starting to do the same with the cookie dough in another.

But Ben keeps his voice down still, since now that the specifics are coming up, it's more likely that someone really will think they're off their rockers if they overhear it. And while this probably- okay, definitely isn't like anything he's ever heard before not too long ago, it's not like they're the only people it's happening to. "There's some nice people on it... but there's so many people on it. I mean... me and Ciel are both there, and so's one of my teachers, and you, and I think one of my classmates - but there's so many people I've never met or even heard of before." He pauses, then continues. "I'm more worried about why this is happening. Why us. Why now. Someone's already died..."
no subject
One of the lids she was holding dropped and rattled about as it settled haphazardly on the counter. A beat later and her eyes gave off the hint of widening perhaps the slightest bit more than they already had as she covered her mouth. And there she had been telling Ben to lower his voice. Admittedly, it took a bit longer for her to compose herself because how do you do whispering when you're this rattled, but after only a matter of time...
"Who- H-- What happened?"
no subject
"I-I don't know much - just that a kid started remembering, then a few days later he was..."
Dead.
no subject
"We-- need to find out more. Why would they be a target. You said-" She paused to take another breath, just... trying to stay calm, before continuing, "--something about remembering things? What do you mean by that?"
no subject
But another question came from her, a more comfortable... or less uncomfortable question, at least. "Yeah... My brother and I, we both... remembered something that had never happened to us. But it was really clear, we both remembered it perfectly. And it wasn't the same thing for both of us."
no subject
But finally, she managed to breathe out, "What was it... that you remembered?"
