Who: Geoff Benwick and OPEN (to Locke City characters in the main log; phone-in thread is open to all).
When: June 1st-4th, afternoons.
Where: By Locke's City Hall.
What: One of Locke's visitors from beyond the atmosphere would like to make acquaintances of some of the city's other less-mundane occupants.

[Geoff had given his directions vaguely to the handful who'd been involved in cleaning up yesterday. He said he'd be by City Hall, starting at two, and that's where he is - close to one of the front walls, a ways from the door, dressed, as usual, for a proper impression. He's wearing a copy of the same suit he's been seen in already. As there's no need for them, he hasn't left a trace of his wings visible.

The suit, his look otherwise, and that aura he radiates have still caught eyes, and a couple of crowds of fans that it looks like the third of those things has already gotten him. He's turned away a reporter, or someone who professed to be a reporter, once. Asking nicely seems to have gotten him enough space to scan for the people who he might be looking for, eventually.

Speaking of which - anyone who does seem to be looking for him or heading his way with any kind of intent will get a wave over, a polite beam.

Either he'll wait for them to take their signal or he'll close some of the distance, and confirm they are who he thinks they are with an innocuous-enough greeting:]

What brings you here?

[OOC: If your character cannot, would refuse to, or just plain wouldn't meet with Geoff in person but you'd still like him to speak with them, you may have them call in if you like.

Remember that speaking with Geoff directly 1. leaves a person under the influence of a supernatural "charm" effect which makes him seem trustworthy by default, and 2. grants eligibility for a plot Echo.

Hello, my name is Naomi Kaufman. Can I confirm that I'm currently talking to Geoff Benwick?

Yes. This is he. A pleasure to speak with you, Naomi Kaufman.

[Clear and unbroken etiquette-as-proper, but his tone's genuinely pleasant.]

So, this number made it into circulation among your associates. I've met a few of you in person today, as well. For a varied group, you're effective communicators.

Hm, is that so?

[Not as much as she'd like, but that's not the point here.]

I'm calling with some questions about some things I've been curious about. Would you be willing to take them?

Yes, of course. I was hoping that some of you may be willing to come forward with them.

Great. First things first: by my understanding, Tiny may have clued certain people in on methods used to find us in the past. For example, a chemical in the water targeting those in this group specifically, or special dogs trained to detect us - this suggests that there's some common element to this group that Tiny was aware of, even though we ourselves aren't. Do you know what that could be? I thought that if he knew something about the matter, you might know as well.

That is intriguing.

[He is narrowing his eyes a bit on his end of the line.]

Unfortunately, Tiny seems to have known far more about your group than the rest of his people currently do, and I am curious as to if he might have left any information behind.

[It's a remark, a consideration - he doesn't expect that she would know, or if anyone in their group would be enthusiastic about passing it on if they did.]

Ha. If only.

[Naomi sighs, disappointment clear in her voice.]

No, if there is anything I don't believe I've heard of it before. That's why I'm asking now.

[There's regret when he speaks again.]

If only, indeed, Naomi Kaufman.

[He pauses, thoughtful, then picks up again, with purpose:] Tiny's advancements may be somewhat beyond my expertise, but if I discover some common element, some secret we - or your companions - have not yet considered, I will bring it you.

Good, thank you. I suppose if his knowledge is lost, that eliminates some of the other questions I had to ask...but I still wonder, why the interest? If I remember correctly you said you'd been watching us for a while, but you never mentioned how you found this world to begin with.

We found it by chance, and noticed that it not only had an atmosphere and held life, but much more than that also sentient life. That made it hold our attention, but then we had to wait until your world would be at a level in technology and culture where we would not interfere too much with the development, should we establish contact.

And how much longer do you think you would have waited if all of this had never happened?

Not much longer. [There is an audible sigh, and then.] Tiny was supposed to see if Earth at this time was developed and peaceful enough, and if we could make contact in peace. That was his original mission when he came here.

[But then Tiny did what he did.]

Perhaps this is his way of saying "Yes."

[She's being smart for a moment there, but there isn't much bite to it. She may not like what Tiny did, but no reason to take it out on Geoff.]

His way of saying yes should have been returning to us, or at least coordinating his activities with us so this would not have happened.

[It is more a verbal sigh than a defence, and he does sound a bit tired here.]

Well, he won't be causing anymore trouble now. For what that's worth, anyway.

[Probably not much, but at least it's better than the alternative.]

That he won't.

...Is there anything else that you wanted to talk about with me? [He's not yet trying to wrap up the conversation, but she seems to be a rather driven person who knows what she wants to him, and the conversation dissolving in idle chatter would probably not be in her interest.]

Hm...yes, one more thing. Is there any link between humans and your species that you're aware of? You do look rather like ourselves.

[Among other things, but given that Geoff doesn't seem to know all the underlying details either it seems like a waste of his time to ask.]

Sadly, no.

We've wondered about it since encountering you, but other matters, both on your planet and elsewhere, simply had higher priorities than it so we haven't had much of a chance to investigate it yet.

A shame. It seems we all have a great deal to learn, then. Will I be able to contact you again at this number, if I find anything worth reporting?

[Interesting to see they've taken up human customs beyond those suits, but it sounds like there's a story there.]

[He sounds a bit bashful, but more amused than anything at his words. A little joke because coming up with email names is hard, okay.]
