Safe Public Servants [Text]

So for my own curiosity, and for the sake of other people in this little Numbers Club, I thought it'd be a good thing for those of us in public service positions to make ourselves known so we know who we can trust on the job, and who others can trust if they need help. Strictly voluntary - if you don't want to point yourself out, that's fine too. I don't know about any of you folks, but I rather like knowing who all is on my side.

And I suppose if any civilians have questions for any of us, have at asking.

I'm Walter Westerfeld - friends call me Wally. I'm a forensic scientist with the police department, and I teach a few classes on the topic at the university. If you need to get in touch for anything, my number is xxx-xxx-xxxx. I might not be an actual cop, but I figure I can help if you've got the bad cops breathing down your neck and need tracks covered or something.

Offering to cover up for people to confuse the police? That's pretty illegal, man.

Yeah, well so is killin' a guy and covering it up as arson. When the safety of someone innocent is at stake due to circumstances beyond their control, I think the law can withstand a little bending.

This is a good idea. I believe we had something like this at one point, but it was a long time ago. Regardless, we might as well start anew.

A lot of people know me here already, but for those who don't, I'm Randall Lyall, and I'm the biology teacher at Locke High. Any students who need anything there or who have had a change or vision that disturbs them can always come to my class if you need a place to hide or recover, or have questions. I've been at this since April, so if I don't know the answer, I'll know someone who does.

Well, unless it's something none of us know, since there's a lot of that, too.

Naomi Kaufman. I'm not precisely a public servant, but I work at the forensics lab so I may occasionally be in a position to do something useful.

Hey Doc, Walter here, guy who made the public servants post. Got a question. I'm pretty sure it's tied to these pulse-things, but just to make sure: you know of any normal reason a person's metabolism could randomly kick into overdrive outta nowhere?

Hmm. Hypermetabolism is a symptom of a number of different things, from injury to illness to more serious conditions such as Graves' disease, fatal familial insomnia, and particularly hyperthyroidism, but if the onset was sudden and you're experiencing no other symptoms, it's highly likely that it is indeed echo-related.

If you'd an examination or blood tests to be sure, I can certainly provide those.

Feel free to call if you need anything at all. I've got an extra couch and a couple of sleeping bags at my apartment if anyone ever needs a safe place to crash, and I can also drive for emergency lifts to places like the LSR clinic, along with the whole cop thing. Anyone ever need some kind of report or the word of a cop to keep something about the network or pulses hidden, consider it done.
