No... I wouldn't want to put anyone in danger like that. Especially since we really don't know what we're dealing with.

Maybe I'll learn how to dust for fingerprints! If there's no one who can help us, we can only help ourselves.

Perhaps the police officer would know and/or have access to the resources. It would require care, of course, but the same is true of anything one wants done well.

Oh! That's a great idea, he might. Though I do know that as far as we all know, most of the police force can't be trusted. He'd have to be really really careful.

[ after a short delay (and consideration): ] In this instance, paper records would likely be more immediately safe than computerised records. That said, it would a) be far more time consuming and b) require the utterly hypothetical prints to belong to an individual with a criminal record.

So it's likely nothing but wishful thinking regardless.
