I tried that this morning after it picked up some old guy yelling about ink. Didn't work.

You got that one too, huh? That wound up in my math notes! Thankfully with no sound, else I would have been in big trouble!

Math notes? You were taking notes on a laptop in class?

[Electronics talking to each other, he can understand. That's what he's assuming is going on here, because it's about as sane as he can make all of this.]

As if they'd let me. I'd play games all class period if they did!

Regular notebook. Lined paper and those annoying metal spirals.

How would that even WORK?

[Have a pained eyeroll that will in no way be able to be conveyed through text. The guy talked about math class...that meant he was still in school...so younger than Hajime, then. Young enough to be called a kid. And kids believed in that sort of thing.]

There's got to be another explanation. One that makes more sense.

Have you noticed anything else weird?

Just the numbers everyone seems to have that lets them chat this way.

And why would the explanation for something that doesn't make sense have any sense to it?

That's it? Nothing besides that?

[He will just be sitting over here with his green blood wondering if he's been hit hardest by the weirdness...

...and that right there is a good point. Not that he is happy about admitting it.]

Calling it magic seems like it's almost too simple.

Only if you think by calling it that, you can stop trying to figure it out. Magic can be just as complex as anything else, after all!

But this is really happening. Magic just sounds like it's not or something like that.

Magic can really happen too.

[Hajime believed that sort of thing once upon a time before growing up a little too fast, and he'd be shooting that down were it not for this...and his blood turning green.]

Have you seen any evidence of this besides the numbers making everything go crazy?

I'd think just that would be enough.

I've heard it said that something scientific enough would be hard to tell apart from magic. Like if you brought a guy from 800 years ago to the present day, you'd be able to convince him you were a wizard or something with just an iPhone. Could be some weird scientific thing. Like someone started testing something that went bad.

[He's so stubborn and possibly in denial. He's reaching, especially given the whole green blood thing.]

So you're trying to tell me that someone from the future swapped my notebook for an ipad from the future?

[chalicejoker]

Okay, yeah, that makes even less sense than magic when you put it that way.

[But he still doesn't want to believe in magic because he's not a little kid anymore, darnit.]

When you rule out the possible, only the impossible remains, right?

I still say there's got to be more of an explanation to it than that. We just need to research it a little bit more first.

Of course there is. Magic doesn't just happen, after all!

So somewhere a wizard is having a laugh at our expense.

Or cursing himself for a spell gone wrong or picking such thick headed people to use his spells on.

I can't see anyone doing this on purpose. It makes no sense.

It might, if it's just part of something bigger!
