So I'm going to be going on a trip to see my cousins soon and I was thinking that there has to be some way to get around that whole "forgetting every important thing" BS. So I've been writing out pretty intense notes, writing down everything I don't want to forget and going to bring that with me so I'll at least have that, and I want some of you guys to keep in touch. I'll be in Japan so texting is kinda iffy, but I'll be checking my mail a bunch, so you guys can just text me though that.

Because seriously, just my luck to have to leave for a week right when we get the main quest, right?

Harhar. Neither, actually. I didn't go to a prestigious enough school for that. I was more researching fertility and the prevalence of triplets in certain bloodlines. Not as interesting as cloning, I know.

You keep setting yourself up for these, you know. :D

[[a slight pause before the follow up text. Thinking on triplets...]]

Of course. I've finished most of my freshmen's grading, and I can't turn it in until tomorrow anyway. What's up?

Nothing major. Just something with these stupid flashbacks that's bugging me.

Not really something I want to go into over text. It okay if I come over?

[And he'll take the interim time to get dressed properly. For his first couple days after the mine, since he hasn't had to go anywhere yet, he's been pretty much hanging around the house in sweatpants and a t-shirt with the collar coming apart.

By the time Bakura gets there, he's wearing real clothes, though just nicer jeans and a plaid shirt.]

[[Knock knock!]]

[[Bakura, for his part is in a t-shirt and jeans shorts with a Minecraft hoodie unzipped and open to deal with the unseasnably cool weather.]]

[Lyall opens the door wider for him to come in.]

Minecraft, huh? I would've thought that game might bore someone like you too quickly.

[[Bakura just grins at that as he walks in, pausing to wipe his shoes as to not track a mess into the house.]] Why would you say that?

[[Since really... with the addition of server play? Endly opportunities for amusement~]]

Not enough heroics, too much grinding. But what do I know what kids like these days?

[That's said dryly, since he's kind of poking fun at Bakura's making fun of his age. He's not that old.... He shuts the door behind him.]

Want anything to drink? A snack?

I won't say to no to something if you're offering.

And the fun with Minecraft is getting creative~ [[there's that impish grin again]] Especially with server play. Building a floating castle in the middle of the night out of flaming Netherrack and then waiting for people to log in and wonder who the hell made makes the MMO style grind worth it~

You obviously are better at it than I am. I've never even managed to make a castle float.

[Then again, he hasn't tried very hard. He isn't all that into the game, himself. He heads into the kitchen for a soda and some chips. ... mostly because he doesn't eat the chips much these days, and he figures Bakura can get them out of his house for him. He sets the bag and the can down on the coffee table in the living room.]

So what's up? Everything okay?

[[Bakura sits at the table, finger tapping. How to even...]]

My flashbacks aren't all from one person.

[That gives Lyall pause, in the middle of reaching for his own tea. He blinks at Bakura.]

How do you figure that? Something not matching up in the visions you've gotten?

Consistently.

[[his fingers drummed the table more.]]

Half of them seem to take place in Egypt in the time of the pharaoh. The other half seem to be someplace more modern. Gut feeling is Japan. And the ones that aren't in Egypt have two common themes: Games gone serious with real consequences, and...

[[a slight hesitation]] and fighting with myself. There's two of me fighting for control of my body. And I get the flashback from both sides when it's those.

That would explain the separate sets of visions, then, if you're seeing things from the point of view of the modern boy who is sharing the body with the older Egyptian... person.

[It's logical, if a bit potentially confusing. He tries to put it in simpler terms.]

Maybe it's just second-hand perceptions?

[[shakes his head]] It's doubled, each side has... mmm... a different tone, I guess you could call it.

And there's been at least one where it was just the aggressive one and one where it was just the one who always loses against him. And there's no link between those two and Egypt that I can--

[[a pause as something occurs to him and his eyes go wide, a curse in Egyptian escaping him. There was a link, wasn't it? He had almost missed it...]]

[Lyall blinks, then pauses as another of those pulses goes through him. He recognizes that language, somehow. That's... very odd. He has no idea what he just said, but the language sounds very familiar. He guesses:]

And now you're speaking Egyptian...?

[Yeah, he's not sure about the link Bakura just caught, just the language bit.]

[[Bakura's head snaps up]]

You understood that?

Not... exactly?

[Lyall is thinking hard about what he just "heard".]

It sounds like something I ought to know, but not exactly. It sounds like "Egyptian", but I couldn't tell you what the word means. In fact, I'm not even coming up with any words in Egyptian. It's like part of me spent some time there, but not enough to learn it.

It's likely what it is. Anthony thought so too...

[a sigh]] You know what sucks though? I can't read it. No recognition whatsoever with it in text.

[Biologist or not, Lyall can see where that would be useful. He offers a smile.]

Give it time, maybe it'll show up, too. Now what made you slip into another language, to begin with? I'm guessing you were cussing.

[Mostly because he's a teacher and he knows what those things sound like with a student. He sounds vaguely amused when he calls him on it.]
