Double Valentines Day--SO BEAUTIFUL

Arthur York
Amazon had been Arthur's most visited site for roughly a month before Valentine's day. He put a daily alarm in his phone that reminded him to check for any deals he could find on the site. It was his first Valentine's Day with a girlfriend--and the first Valentine's Day he ever had in which he felt he would really be happy.

In the end, he went with earrings he thought she would like. Emi had really begun to embrace her vampiric appearance and while he thought getting her a dress that would have proper openings for her wings would be nice--he realized that was a present that would spoil itself when he asked for her measurements.

Plus, he wasn't sure if it was a faux pas to ask for her measurements. Admittedly, he didn't even know what a faux pas was. Arthur waited in Emi's room, the earrings wrapped somewhat poorly in a little case with heart-patterned wrapping paper.

Doppel!Arthur
Valentine's day was something he didn't think much of, but he realized it would be poor show if he didn't do anything about it. Dropping his investigation for the moment and deciding that bothering translators to speak to some of the more rustic folks in the area exhausted him mentally, Arthur decided to find a gift for Emilia the best way he could: simply by asking someone in one of the local stores. He knew his expertise was limited and that clerks often-times could tell people what were their most sought after items.

He found out that plush toys were the most popular, but he realized that very few stores had plush bats. When he managed to find one, it was just a bat--not at all themed for Valentine. So, he bought a plush bear that had a red heart sewn to it, removed the heart and sewed the heart onto the bat. Unlike his counterpart, Arthur took the time to look up how to sew properly before he risked ruining his project. When he was done, he found a bouquet of roses and candies in a gift store, wrapping the lot of it up into a basket.

He called Emilia and left her a message, waiting for her to answer.

Real!Emi

She was actually planning on giving him her measurements herself, only that recent events had proven to be quite a distraction on that front. Fortunately, she hadn't forgotten anything else.

To think she began to take pride in being a vampire, though, when she began her numbered life disliking vampires... The irony was amusing.

Emi arrived home in due time, with her own gifts for him. And since she is rich and all, his are on the expensive side. But hey, he's getting the best German beer she can get, and a Rolex watch. Personalized, of course, with his and her names, all in a basket. Not forgetting the cards. And of course she arrives with the basket in hand.

"Ah, iubitul meu... Have you been waiting long?"

Arthur didn't stir too much when Emilia entered the room, simply pulling out the little wrapped box the second he responded, as if it was necessary for her to see it the instant she locked eyes with him. Suddenly, he felt nervous. In an instant, Arthur felt his certainty with his gift melt off of him into nothingness.

"H-Hey, babe," It was a good thing it took quite a bit more than that to sweat bullets. For someone who could sprint for a week straight, it was tough to get winded. "N-Not waiting long. Just y-y'know, finished wrapping this!"

He felt like those words came out in a robotic voice as if his body was just trying to recite a script.

Emi of course practically radiates confidence as she enters the room fully, her eyes on him and the basket in her hand. She was very curious about his gift, though, small as it is. Oh...! She hopes it's a ring!

"I thought I'd go and spoil you... After all, you've earned it."

His eyes fell to the basket. Shit. He thought that he had to go small and clever. Getting a card would have been meaningless, because he got her a real present and they would talk and definitely kiss after, so--

Immediately, Arthur looked a little crestfallen.

He forgot flowers. Flowers were supposed to be in there no matter what. No matter how expensive the gift was, in movies and TV shows, there were always flowers.

"I--I shoulda gotten flowers."

He didn't earn a thing.

Ah, she was wondering about that. No flowers? She sets the basket down beside him and concerns herself with what he has gotten for her. A proposal would make up for a lack of flowers easily.

"You forgot, didn't you? Ah... but you have a surprise for me, don't you?"

"Yeah! Absolutely!" She didn't look absolutely certain, but Arthur was sure it could turn around. He shuffled up onto his knees and held out the package to Emilia with one hand, his look turning a bit more confident at the very least.

"C'mon, open it!"

Well, she goes and does what was expected. Was it just something like earrings or was it really what she hoped it would be? She tore off the paper and immanently brightened upon seeing the little case.

"Are going to...?" Emi began, opening it, and. Oh. It was earrings. "Ah... I thought it might had been a ring."

Arthur wasn't sure if that was a good or bad reaction. He seemed to brighten just a little bit, a smile creeping on his cheeks when she said that. He had gotten the wrong gift, apparently, but maybe he stumbled on something better than that.

"You wanted a ring? For--for... y'know?"

She was happy he got her something. And she was comfortable, even proud of being a vampire. Her opinion definitely changed over time when it came to it. She accepts the gift gratefully, kissing him lightly.

"With a certain pair of girls I know getting engaged, it got me thinking about us..." She smiles, trying out the earring.

Arthur didn't have Emi's hands to grab onto since she was putting on the earrings, so his hands found themselves gripping her blouse a little bit in his surprise.

"Wait, you'd say yes?! 'Course I wanna do that!"

He manages to startle her a bit all the same, and annoy her a little in the process.

"Of course! Despite the fact you sometimes try my patience, I love you so very much." Why else would she start giving him Romanian pet names? Well, she did basically call him her boyfriend.

"I love you too," He sounded exasperated. Arthur didn't even notice the twitch in Emi's face as he gripped her blouse. He just suddenly looked somewhat stricken as if punched in the stomach.

He said something worrisome, "Oh no, but--"

"I won't have a best man, will I?"

He was doing it all in the wrong order.

Emi blinked at that. That seems like such a small thing to worry about.

"Make some friends, Arthur. But before all that... A ring will be needed."

Emi had not been having a bad day, so as such she has a good feeling about today. She was not wrong...

Not long after she had put together a few things for her boyfriend, she got the message from him. And of course her response is prompt, asking Arthur where he wanted to meet her.

"We could meet up by the castle," He continued the call, his voice soft and soothing as ever. Arthur knew just how to talk to Emi, whether she was having a good day or a bad day. Even he knew it was all a matter of tone when it came to seduction and he would always layer it on to the best of his ability. "We could even sneak around a bit."

"Though, I'll get lonely, soon if you leave me waiting too long, Emi."

This is one of the few times Emi sound genuinely happy, and certainly more than willing to follow his lead with things...

"I'd always be there whenever you need me, Arthur. I'll be there soon." True to her word, it wasn't long at all before the shy vampire comes into view, landing at the main gate of the castle, her gifts for him in hand. Immediately, she began to look for Arthur...

Dressed in a very nice black suit and vest, Arthur stood up from a stone rise just aside from the gate of the castle, giving Emi his best smile. Keeping the basket held in one hand, he reached out for Emi with his free one.

"Hey there," With a measure of grace and poise, Arthur gave Emi a little bow. "As usual, you don't keep me waiting. Your love is rejuvenating to me, Emilia."

She blushed as he came into view, marvelling at how perfect he seemed to her, almost like he was an actual prince. But he was a king, or his other was, so was this really a surprise?

Gently, she took his hand, smiling softly up at Arthur. "You always give me the strength to keep going..." She sets down the basket for a moment, anticipating a kiss...

Though Arthur didn't think to kiss Emilia right away, he felt that pause in her. It was her little stutters and shifts in tone that alerted him to what sort of state she was in, so he could tell when she would be easily surprised or when she had a little fantasy in mind.

His smile shifted a bit to something a little more mischievous as he leaned in to kiss her when she hesitated.

"No. I just show you the strength you already have."

She blushes the second their lips make contact, her heart would have skipped a beat if it still beat to begin with...

"I'm not really strong like that at all..."

[knights_king]

"Not yet, maybe," He pulled back, lowering one hand so Emilia could take it. He wanted to lead her over so they could sit down somewhere.

"But, one day you'll be strong and fight alongside me."

She took his hand fairly quickly, letting him lead her wherever he wanted the two of them to go.

"You really think so?"

"Of course," He stopped, sitting down on a bench and adjusting his hold on Emi's hand so she could do the same and not twist her arm. Arthur instead reached up to put his arm around her.

"Don't you like the sound of it--the two of us being heroes?"

The shy vampire began to lean against him once he embraced her, a truly content smile forming on her face.

"I do, but... I'm not really hero material."

[knights_king]

"You know," He responded easily, looking from Emi, up through the gaps in the ceiling above up to the night sky above. Fortunately, he was warm enough as he was--constantly.

"You'll look back and laugh at that attitude one day, Emi."
