[there's a pause as the recording begins, with some... uncomfortable murmuring that indicates the speaker is nervous about saying this. Finally, however, she speaks]

This past month has been... well, it has been quite busy for us all. Personally speaking, I've had a significant case that I finished, I observed the battle with the mafia, and there were the riots in Locke.

There are still things I want to inquire upon. Like the way things that are being handled in the wake of said riots, but...

[there's a long, audible sigh]

I feel as though it's time I tried to relax. Unfortunately, that's not an area in which I'm particularly versed. Some might call me a workaholic... and that feeds into a vice that I'm trying to distance myself from.

So, then. Would... anyone have any suggestions for leisure activities in accordance with the New Year? I would prefer suggestions that do not involve excessive amounts of alcohol.

Well, if we're in Vegas, there'll be plenty going on for New Years Eve!

Most of which involve alcohol, Natalie. But... I suppose if I have someone there watching out for me...

[she clears her throat]

I do need to be more social, of course.

Mm, I know that, but...

[She sighs, but pipes up immediately after.] That's what you have me there, for! The only other thing you could do is stay locked up and that's not going to be good, either!

Well, it's better than this one video clip that suggested I watch the entirety of an action film series.

I trust you, Natalie, to keep me responsible. I just hope I can figure out how to fit into a party. I don't believe I've been to many that aren't police functions.

But that's not a no, of course.

[She laughs.] That's a date, then!

[She says completely obliviously, and genuinely innocently, with no intentional insinuations at all. No, seriously. It doesn't strike her how that might come across.]

[Fuyuka's breath hitches at that comment, but she quickly recovers]

Right... it'll be a night to remember, then?

I should wear something besides my usual attire, though. I fear what I tend to wear is inappropriate for a party.

[She giggles, not catching the missing breath.] Good!

But yes, you just might want to do that. No offense, but you might look a little stuffy then.

Yes, exactly.

I imagine you might know far more than I do in that area, Natalie. I mean, I know you're not a "party girl", as it were, but I still imagine you've been to far more than I.

[Yet another laugh, although this one hedges on nervous.] Maybe! Just a bit.

Not much since college, though. Heh. That's... been a little while, now.

[She is not about to talk about the sorts of things she might have gotten up to in college though.

Hm! Perhaps I should add that to my list of things to investigate... "what Natalie Tamura was like in college"...

[is that a joke? Is Fuyuka Terasawa telling a joke?]

But... as long a time as it may be, it's still more recent than my example. So, I'll put my fate in your hands.

[... that one? Entirely on accident]

[Joke or not, Natalie suddenly sounds alarmed.]

Ahhh, no, no...! That's quite all right, Fuyuka! You don't need to do that...

[Ahem.]

But, guess that means I have to help pick out your clothes too. [A mock sigh.] I suppose I can manage~

Oh, but I must! A good detective never lets the truth slip through their fingers!

[she laughs a bit... which quickly dies down]

... Would you believe I've never actually worn a dress before? In fact, the barrier jacket is the first time I've worn a skirt since my early days on the force.

You really, really don't have to. Really. You don't. [Please.]

...but! That means one important thing, Fuyuka.

[Dramatic pause.] I have to take you shopping.

[there's something of a pregnant pause in response to that, followed by Fuyuka sighing]

You've been waiting for a day like this, haven't you?

[One can practically hear the grin on her side.]

Oh, you have no idea.

... H-hm.

Very well, since we're doing this, I might as well give you free reign. If you have any ideas for augmenting my casual wardrobe, feel free to act on them as well.

I know exactly what we're doing tonight then!

... I've never really considered loud explosions to be relaxing, to be honest.

Hmmn. Guess I never thought about it that way. What do you like doin'?

Well, I'm trying to step out of my comfort zone, so I'm trying to be flexible. It's more that explosions remind me far too much of the more violent side of my work.

That's kind of my point. There's gotta be something you think you'd like to do but you never got up the balls to do it.
