Entry #A-13: "Anesthetizing" [Audio]

[This is a really difficult post to make. L clears his throat.]

Some of you are already aware of an unfortunate occurrence at my coffee shop through Twitter. #Espressoyourself, #freaksoflocke, and #hipstergate are all particularly active at present.

[A pause, and then firm, deliberate continuation.]

I am taking a leave of absence for several more weeks because I love Espresso Yourself and its mission too much to do them further harm. Business, upstairs and downstairs, should continue as usual thanks to Torin, Belle Goldman, and the rest of the shop's excellent staff. In the spirit of recovery and to make the most of my time off, I've scheduled an operation, but if anyone has powers or expertise in healing, and believes they could deal with an old injury, I would prefer this route. So if it wouldn't sap, weaken or kill you... please talk to me before Sunday.

That's really all I wanted to say, so... thank you for your time.

The guy was an asshole, but yah, you do need to rest up a lot more.

Is Tony working or is he gonna take time off too?

I think it's undeniable that something has to change, and that's on me, regardless of who was at fault. The current status quo isn't working, and yes, it's my understanding that Richard has convinced Tony to stay away from work, as well.

I know what you did for me. This sounds trite, but I can't thank you enough.

I hate all of this right now.

It's OK to hate what's going on. But it's important to keep moving forward... if that takes you to Vegas then I wish you all the best.

We'll manage, even with some setbacks.

You doing okay?

No healing powers, but I've got a pot of this plant called Athelas that does wonders if you're feeling awful.

I'm not, but I'm looking to fix that.

My roommate has a pot of Athelas; probably a cutting from that same plant. I've made tea with it before, but admittedly I don't know much about it.

He wrestles with how exactly to broach this. Mental health is simply not talked about, and the need to seek rest or assistance in preserving it is even less so.

He sticks with the nature of the surgery, since represents focusing forward.]

It's an old complication. You're aware that my hands don't work well due to some tendons that were damaged a long time ago, so... I want to get them fixed. That's what I'm taking time off to do.
