Entry #A-13: "Anesthetizing" [Audio]

[This is a really difficult post to make. L clears his throat.]

Some of you are already aware of an unfortunate occurrence at my coffee shop through Twitter. #Espressoyourself, #freaksoflocke, and #hipstergate are all particularly active at present.

[A pause, and then firm, deliberate continuation.]

I am taking a leave of absence for several more weeks because I love Espresso Yourself and its mission too much to do them further harm. Business, upstairs and downstairs, should continue as usual thanks to Torin, Belle Goldman, and the rest of the shop's excellent staff. In the spirit of recovery and to make the most of my time off, I've scheduled an operation, but if anyone has powers or expertise in healing, and believes they could deal with an old injury, I would prefer this route. So if it wouldn't sap, weaken or kill you... please talk to me before Sunday.

That's really all I wanted to say, so... thank you for your time.

[Which doesn't cut the mustard. It's ineffectual indeed, and he's still very jarred by what happened on the day that prompted this, but he wishes to offer the sentiment, as he can't offer the more practical reference to a healer - not one he recalls as both such and around.]

It's OK to hate what's going on. But it's important to keep moving forward... if that takes you to Vegas then I wish you all the best.

We'll manage, even with some setbacks.

I think it's undeniable that something has to change, and that's on me, regardless of who was at fault. The current status quo isn't working, and yes, it's my understanding that Richard has convinced Tony to stay away from work, as well.

I know what you did for me. This sounds trite, but I can't thank you enough.

I'm going to acclimate to my new medications, stay away from Espresso Yourslf until social media calms down about it, and while that's all happening, I want to get my hands fixed.

I had a consultation with a surgeon yesterday, and he said that while I'll probably never be a concert pianist I can probably get back some dexterity and strength. I feel like I'll need both in the coming months...

I'll keep an eye on him too, help him figure out how to handle his extra problems.

My roommate has a pot of Athelas; probably a cutting from that same plant. I've made tea with it before, but admittedly I don't know much about it.
