41st Howl | News at 7 [Semi-Closed]
Who: Randolph Lyall, a couple reporters for the local news station, and anyone who replied with interest here.
When: August 19, on the evening news
Where: On the television! More specifically, in a studio somewhere in Locke.
What: Some hopefully-positive publicity for the Numbered
The special segment on the news at 7 sets the scene in one of its side news offices meant for local coverage. There are some pretty strange people seated around a long desk-like table... and some not very strange people, too. Some of them look like anyone you'd see walking down the street, and some of them look like something you'd see out of a comic book or a movie.
The reporter introduces them all as members of that mysterious group of the "specially gifted" who helped the city against the giant snake several months before and who have had very little to say in the meantime, and it starts off on a generally positive note, with each of the reincarnates involved introducing themselves and giving a short statement about their experiences. It then turns to questions, mostly from the reporters, but with a segment at the end for questions tweeted in by viewers. One of the three reporters seems positive on the whole-- and familiar with Julien in particular-- while another is fairly neutral and a third seems to want to steer things into more negative territory.
The segment only lasts an hour, so it's not really long enough for much in-depth questioning, but the anchor at the end says that further interest might bring their illusive guests back again in the future!
((mostly closed to people who expressed interest (or would express interest) on Lyall's request for volunteers earlier, but if anyone wants to submit viewer questions, there's a comment for that at the end! :3 ))

Anthony
And figure that it's off. He's out on a plane, as far as he's concerned - knows that even what wearing a hood represents isn't there. When it's his turn, he faces dead ahead, thanks God that he has no heartbeat to drive up to palpitating and that he can't visually confirm anyone's looks, regardless of whatever kind they might be, rattles in a breath, and takes it. He holds his tone like a dragonfly on a string to cruise a higher tone, enough sense to hope it makes the better appeal.
"My name is Anthony Janvier. I've also, been - " Swallow. " - um, uh - part of this since - since April of last year... -- I -- am - a zombie. -- I was finishing my freshman year of high school when it got too - when it got too obvious for me to keep, uhm. Going -- at the time, uh -- I had to leave home out of fear that they would be killed - ..."
Skipped over specifying the "they".
A voiced and also-swallowing cough. "It's, erm - I don't know how -- or why -- it works, but my -- body - is - completely dead. I don't eat -- I don't sleep -- and it - my, er - 'status' - isn't contagious; I'm - " And he still isn't sure how to feel about this word. It's not to be equated with useless, especially not here. " - harmless. -- As Mr. Lyall said - n - nobody picked to... be one of the ones to change; we don't, uh. Know - yet, why it's us -- or why each one of us changes the way that we do. -- But we have no designs besides for - for the past year... besides -- doing everything that we could, as -- the only s - support that there was for - others... going through the same. Thing.
" -- Thank you." A wince and a small duck of his head, a pitiful opening, but hopefully not a harmful one.
THE LORD OF THE BUGMEN
Winter
"My name is Winter Adamas... I graduated from Locke City High School this past spring, and I'm starting at the university in a few weeks. I first became part of all this in... June of 2013. Not from the beginning, but close to it. I'm still human, with one exception - I can change into a magical form, called a Pretty Cure, or Precure for short. There are several things involved in the process, and for simplicity's sake I won't demonstrate now, but some of you may remember Cure Diamond from the incident in March, and more recent appearances. That's me."
She's not sure how to put the rest of what she wants to say - after everything that's happened, all the pain and the joy, she can't really pick one tone. Eventually, she decides on how to continue. "We've had a h-hard road to get here. Disasters, conspiracies, partings... I would be lying if I said it was entirely a pleasant experience. But even if I don't know why I was chosen, and even if I've been hurt - physically and emotionally - along the way, I wouldn't trade this for anything. I feel like I've grown so much as a person through the trials I've faced and the people I've met, and I want to share that growth, and the happiness I've found, with as many people as I can. I want to help people, to protect people. It's what the person I got these powers from would have wanted, and what someone important to me now would want. So if talking about myself and these powers will help me keep everyone safe... I'll lay everything out."
...She was expecting that not to come out so easily, and it shows in a faint bit of surprise on her face, before it melts into a gentle smile.

He smiles out at the cameras and especially the reporter he's friendly with. "Hello! I'm Julien Sakazaki, which you probably know." Julien does modelling these days, and he's very very visible. "I know what I look like, but I consider myself human - and I'm going to continue to do so for the forseeable future. That said..."
He stands, steps back cautiously, and opens one long, broad white wing. It nearly glows in the stage lights. "This started a year ago in April, for me. I was afraid of what it meant. It's not something I'm really happy with, and I don't know why it's happening, but I'm trying to make the best of it. That's what we're all doing, really." Julien folds the wing against himself again, a touch of a concerned frown on his face. "All of this is confusing and alarming. I want to help if I can, with what I can, but I don't understand more than anyone does. Please have patience."
Saretha
Eventually however, there comes time to speak. No notes necessary on her part. She hadn't even rehearsed - something about having the unstoppable willpower of an insurmountable warrior coursing through you does great for public speaking.
"My name is Saretha Kaiser," she says, her voice cool and calm, but also with just a touch of force behind it. "I own interests in a couple of businesses here and there, but... this isn't an advertisement for me, so I shall refrain there." She smiles. Oh, if anyone's interested tracking that down just by her name won't be hard, so the free advertising is still there in a roundabout way. "I cannot claim to have been at this as long as many of the others here - my time among them began a year after those pink lights first appeared, when the monster ransacked our city."
'Our' city. Keyword, there.
"I stand as proof what started then continues to this day. The dress I wear can shift and transform itself into battle armor, which subsequently increases my own physical prowess in the process." We can just leave out the whole part about the blood devouring monster and appearing half naked, for now. "Why have I hidden myself until now? Because it comes down to a simple fact, the likes of which many of you viewing this can attest to..."
She gives a shake of her head. "You are afraid, aren't you? Monsters, people with these amazing powers who you don't understand the motivations or intentions of... Understand this: We are no different from you." Her eyes flash a bit, head tilting up. "Be it in that respect, or in the end, any other. There would possibly be many others up here speaking with us, but... Many of us are just as afraid as you. Most of us simply want to live our lives privately, the same as anyone else."
Of course, not Saretha - she's neither afraid nor does she care about exposing herself here. But it sounds nice, doesn't it? Isn't that what matters to a camera?
"Yet we are beset by those who would judge us without all the information by media, or worse..." Her stance shifts, making a convincing look of someone who is worried, but not exactly backing down. "Criminals who would seek to target us simply for being what we are. As it is, I will be happy to submit myself to the FBI for any questions they may have, and would very much like to cooperate with them and any local authorities towards helping everyone. As I said... we aren't much different from anyone watching this, when it comes to what's important."
With that, she sits down, quietly crossing her hands before her. That says most of what she wants to, for now; all that's left is to see if it trips a couple wires here and there by her doing so.

"Exactly that," Lyall starts with the second question first. "A man who changes into a wolf. A rather angry one, so I don't let myself wander about freely. I'm not one of those monsters from the Harry Potter movie or that Hugh Jackman movie, Van Hellsing, though--" That earns a slightly strained chuckle. "--I'm just an ordinary-looking wolf.
"As for coming forward, I don't want the public to have the wrong idea about us. The things I've been hearing, in the news and in the street, are just ridiculous. We're just ordinary people who've had strange things happen to them. We've no more idea about why this is happening than anyone else does, and we've certainly got no plans to take over anything at all, except maybe control of our own image with the rest of the world."
