Who: Gabriel, Liam and Ariel
What: Gabriel is now the oldest elf and he needs to at least try and be responsible or something
When: Monday 21st, evening
Where: Some hippy restaurant on the outskirts of the city

Gabriel had considered booking a table for them at a vegan restaurant he knows downtown for Liam's sake, but after some thought he reconsidered, and when the text comes with the time and place it's an ethical restaurant further out of town, along with the offer of a lift out there if either of them need it. There's three reasons: the first is that he wants to prove to Liam that you don't have to be vegan to eat responsibly, and that it's in a much nicer setting out in the suburbs, with an outdoor eating area that they can sit and enjoy the small garden that's been grown there, and thirdly while Gabriel doesn't mind eating vegan if he's at a friend's house or an event, if he's paying for a meal then damnit he'll give himself (and Ariel) the option.

He's not actually visited the restaurant himself before, although he was recommended it by several friends, so he's pleased to find that it's as nice as it looked on the website, as they're led through the more or less empty restaurant and out to the garden. Unsurprisingly, it seems most diners have chosen to enjoy the weather and Gabriel's pleased when they're led to a table in an out of the way corner that allows them a little privacy. He lets the younger two sit down first before taking the remaining seat, long legs stretched out under the table. "Pick what you like from the menu, I'll pay." He offers, generously.

Ariel had arrived at the restaurant with Liam because he would have bugged her until she came to get him. Besides, she had pretty much resigned herself to being his ride in and out of town whenever she was able.

The restaurant was a pleasant surprise, and the garden relaxed her almost as soon as she laid eyes upon it. That it also is not vegan. She had been prepared to make a sacrifice on Liam's behalf to eat green, but now that meat was back on the menu, she was already visualizing a steak sandwich or perhaps a burger. She sat down, tucking her legs under her and began to peruse the menu.

"That's sweet of you Gabriel." She flashed him a smile over the menu and then glanced over at Liam, checking on her friend. Since her trip to Las Vegas, she had not seen much of Liam, and now was as good a time as any to check up on him.

Liam had been spending most of his spare time at the beach, and while he did know to use a natural sunblock such as carrot seed oil, he often got distracted and forgot to reapply. So now he's sporting a rather painful looking sunburn, and he's careful not to rub up against anything when he sits.

"Thanks dude, that's awesome of you... you know you don't have to right?"

He looks around the restaurant, looking pleased with the gardens. "So it's an ethical place?"

He waves a hand in response to both of them, a smile on his lips. "I dragged you out here, I don't mind paying. Although that's no excuse to go overboard, either of you!" Not that he'd expect either of them to take advantage of his generosity. That's one thing he can trust Liam to be responsible about, at least.

"That's right. One of my old friends mentioned it to me a while ago, and I haven't had a chance to come yet. Hand raised and culled meat, all of the animal produce comes from organic, free range farms, and there's a vegan section in the menu too. Oh, and all CO2 neutral, of course. Ah, look, they have a piece on their farms on the back." He adds, as he reaches the back of it, laying his down on the table so Liam can see. Of course all of that means that it's expensive, but Gabriel's pockets are deep enough to treat them. "It looks like it's more or less what they have on the website, though." He adds, as he skim reads the information on the back. "I eat ethically when I can, and I thought this might be nicer for Ariel." He offers her a smile. And, of course, it might open Liam's eyes to some of the other options.

Ariel laughed a little glancing at the menu. "Don't worry, I promise to not eat you out of house and home." She at least wasn't Killian and tactfully she left out mentioning her boyfriend, though it was hard. Having already settled on a steak sandwich even before she arrived, she set her menu down and began to fiddle with the bracelet that Killian had made for her. It was her unconscious way of including him without making Liam uncomfortable.

"Even if it is pricey, I think it's well worth it. I like the atmosphere already. It feels fitting to eat here, price aside. Thanks for inviting us here. "

Liam looks impressed. "Whoa, CO2 neutral? That's awesome!" He takes a moment to read the back of the menu that Gabriel had just put in front of him. "Sweet." He glances at Ariel. "Dude, if you're going to eat meat, here's the place to do it."

After a moment of reading, he looks up at Gabriel. "So what's the occasion? Elf club meeting?"

He was pretty sure that Ariel and Gabriel were the only other Elves he knew of, if the ears were anything to go by.

Pleased that Liam seems impressed, Gabriel hopes that he might take some of the practices to heart. Maybe, just maybe, he'll learn something. He'd already taken a look at the menu online, so it doesn't bother him to let Liam take his menu to look at the back.

"Something like that!" He replies with a laugh. "Teagan and Elliot and I had plans to meet up occasionally to keep on track of each others echoes. Even though they've lost theirs, those of us who still have them should stick together." He smirks, lips twitching. "Especially since we're out numbered by Thorir and his clan." And, well, as the eldest (even if he no longer looks it) he feels a measure of responsibility for them. Liam more than Ariel since he's sure that Ariel can mostly look after herself.

Ariel struggles so hard not to roll her eyes at Liam about his approval of being allowed to eat meat here. She just smiles and nods to him and then turns her attention towards Gabriel again. "It is a shame they left. I never got to know them very well." She glanced over to Liam deciding to ask after his uncle later just to see what was going on with him, since she was more or less squatting in his place.

"I like the idea of us elves coming together for a meet and greet. I love the Thorssons, but there is only so much of them I can take." She chuckled a little remembering some of the more colorful moments watching her uncle and Killian interact with differing members of that family.

"Maybe we should talk about our echoes and see if we share anything in common?" She gestured to Liam, looking at him, "I know you and I have some, but I'm not sure how many that is."Turning her head she looked to Gabriel next, "And I know I got the ears off you, so I wonder what else you might provide?"

At the mention of his uncle, Liam looks aside at some of the plants in the garden. "Uncle Teage and I didn't talk much about this whole thing. Just once we went over some stuff like the network. He didn't say he was an Elf, though."

He looks back at the group and very slightly frowns when Ariel mentions the Thorssons. Dwarves were bugging him lately, though he didn't know why. He thought maybe it was just because Killian dating Ariel - which, he didn't understand either, really - but then the whole lot of them just seemed distasteful lately.

To Ariel's suggestion, he nods. "That's right I totally need to get you back."

"They're definitely best in small doses." Gabriel agrees with Ariel about the Thorssons, laughing affectionately. And it's not even a short joke. Best friend or not, Thorir has a large personality, and it apparently runs in the family. "As for Teagan, he might not even have known. I can't remember when that term first came up any more." There's too many echoes, and too many things worked out together rather than from them for him to know for certain.

"I'd be happy to share with you both what I know - ah, but first." He smiles at the waitress as she returns for their orders, then looks back at the younger two. "Are we ready to order?"

Ariel laughs, short joke intended or not, it was funny. Liam's comment about getting her back gets a teasing look from her. She however doesn't say anything as she knows it will probably provoke him to say or do something further. The appearance of the waitress has her smile as she sets down the menu.

"Yep I'm ready to order if everyone else is! I'll have an iced coffee and a steak sandwich." She glanced to Gabriel and Liam both, hoping they were ready to order as well since she sort of jumped the gun.

"One sec...um...."

It takes Liam a moment longer, he'd been to busy reading the back of the menu to read the front of it. He wiggles his leg excitedly slightly under the table, like a kid in a candy store. There were a lot more choices than he was used to having. He settles on a vegan version of lasagna and iced tea.

"Sorry it was hard to pick."

While Liam takes another look over the menu, Gabriel orders a pasta salad and some water, and then glances at the other blonde. Well, at least he seems to be taking in the choice. Maybe if he can get him a recipe book he'll actually take some of this to heart after his scare.

Once the waitress has taken their menus and gone to get their drinks, he hums, thinking of the best way to start this off, given that they don't know what each other knows get. "Perhaps the best way to do this is to go through the things we're most curious about and to see if anyone can fill in those gaps?" He suggests.

Ariel s perfectly happy to wait for the two of them to order since she sort of rushed ahead before getting confirmation they were both ready. Once the waitress is gone, she leans her head on her hand and looks at the other two expectantly. She had questions, but none were very pressing. She gestured to Liam with her free hand, "I'm sure Liam has a few. Any I have can wait for now."

Liam gives Ariel a 'gee, thanks' look for putting him on the spot before he sighs and looks thoughtful.

"Okay well..."

He trails off, then opens and closes his mouth a few times, trying to think of things he wanted to know or ask about. Then after a moment, he gets a strange faraway and slightly sad look on his face.

"I don't know, maybe you guys can help me figure this out... I mean, I feel weird. Like I want to go somewhere. Like it's really important, and it's driving me nuts."

He looks between both of them. "That happen to anybody else?"

If it hadn't been for the expression on Liam's face, Gabriel would have said that what he was feeling was just wanderlust - he'd had the same when he was about Liam's age, but fortunately enough he'd already toured a fair part of the world which helped. It's the sadness that makes him pause for thought, though, thinking over what he knows.

"The closest I've felt to that is... every time I look up at the stars." He offers, thoughtfully. "I'm drawn to them in a way I wasn't before."

Stars Ariel could understand. Especially after she and Killian had shared a memory about starlight and a fire moon. It caused her to grin a little stupidly as she continued to play with the bracelet he had made for her.

"I understand the thing about stars. They are important. But I don't think I feel the same longing as either of you. I'm content and suffer from no longing or deep desires for places or things so I can't offer any help there."

"Stars are cool I guess, but I think I'm more into the sea right now."

A thought occurs to him then, and he turns to Ariel.

"Wait, aren't you all into surfing and stuff? You'd think you'd have this... thing. Echo. Whatever."

Then, trying to make sense of Gabriel's comment about his being drawn to the stars, he turns to him.

"So, is it like you want to go up into space or something? Are we space elves? Like... those dudes on TV from Space Journey?"
