Who: Melissa and whoever wants to celebrate her birthday!!
When: July 15th
Where: A private room in a bar for the grown up party; Karl's apartment and
What: It's Melissa's birthday! TIME TO PARTY.
Warnings: Stupid, drunk adults. And Melissa in general.
[Melissa usually tries really hard not to focus on the fact that there really are advantages to dating her boss. Mostly because that’s really goddamn weird, when she thinks about it. But said advantages can be nice from time to time, especially when it ends in said boss giving her the day off without her having to ask for it.
So what is she going to do? For the first time in a while, she’s going to not worry about having to hunt anyone down on her birthday. She’s planning on having fun.]
[ooc: Starters will go up in the comments!]

Adult Party, evening
[ooc: Just kind of a basic opener thread for the party! MINGLE AROUND, TALK TO THE PEOPLE.]

It's hard to see if she's flushed through the makeup, but from the way she's acting, tipsy is probably a good assumption to make.

Melissa glances over at the karaoke machine too, grinning. "You gonna try it out?"

This is why, instead of booze, he opts to just indulge in some gingerale. Not booze, but more flavorful than water. His eyes scan the room (lingering momentarily on Melissa and maybe he smiles at teeny bit at seeing her having fun) and land on the karaoke machine. Part of him is tempted to try his hand at it while actually sober; part of him just wants to keep sipping away at his drink all night.]

Hey.

Hey. Enjoying yourself?
[If that grin on her face isn't answer enough.]

Contemplating whether indulging in a single drink is that bad an idea.
[Not really. One beer over the course of an evening is fine. This much Karl knows. This is he's highly leaning towards giving in and getting one drink.]

Happy Birthday, Lisa. [ Her real present has already been delivered to her apartment. It's a pair of pole dancing heels in a red satin box. ]
no subject
Thanks. And thanks for the shoes. [At least they're sparkly.]
no subject
Are you going to be okay in dancing heels the whole night?
[ She probably has backup plan for that but he'll ask anyway. ]

Family Time [closed to Robyn]
So here they are, grabbing a simple lunch out together and at least that means she can't get yelled at for her life choices too much. Besides. Birthday.]
Family Time [closed to Robyn]
...And it's not like she didn't leave herself completely open when she can't even manage to get a dumb piece of lettuce to stay on her gosh darn fork!]
no subject
Robyn, what are you doing? [this is just sad. and hilarious.]
no subject
[Stab, stab, stab but no salad yet. She'll glance up and smile nervously.]
Nothing, nothing at all!
[And while she's not even looking she'll poke the thing and it'll stick onto her fork like it was no big deal.]
no subject
Really? 'Cause to me it looks like you're having a bit of trouble.

Serious Talk [closed to Karl]
She's sobered up a bit by the time they get back, but she's still tipsy and leaning on Karl as they walk in anyway. Not because she needs so much as she just kind of likes it. But he got her back safely so he'll get a cheek kiss.]
Thanks.
no subject
Chances are, he owes this in part to the woman who just placed a kiss on his cheek. Other factors were likely involved, too, like his sons and his family and even the Network, but no doubt Melissa holds a large role in his current happiness. A small smile gets sent her way.]
Not at all.
[With a bit of maneuvering, Karl successfully closes the door while still serving as a support. Hmm although, given how much she's drank, getting some water in her might not be a bad idea. Hangovers are a pain in the ass, enough said.]
Do you need any water?
no subject
She turns so she's not leaning on him so much, instead wrapping around his shoulders and smiling up at him before giving him a proper kiss, lingering there for a while before pulling back.]
Happy birthday to me.
no subject
Thoughts of water get briefly pushed to the side at the kiss. It makes Karl's smile widen all the more. It's funny. Normally on this day he mopes yet here he is, grinning like an idiot down at one of the most wonderful people in his life right now.]
And may you have many more.
