Who: Melissa and whoever wants to celebrate her birthday!!

Where: A private room in a bar for the grown up party; Karl's apartment and
What: It's Melissa's birthday! TIME TO PARTY.
Warnings: Stupid, drunk adults. And Melissa in general.

[Melissa usually tries really hard not to focus on the fact that there really are advantages to dating her boss. Mostly because that’s really goddamn weird, when she thinks about it. But said advantages can be nice from time to time, especially when it ends in said boss giving her the day off without her having to ask for it.

So what is she going to do? For the first time in a while, she’s going to not worry about having to hunt anyone down on her birthday. She’s planning on having fun.]

[Some slightly joking tone exists in that. Keyword: slight. For it being a kinda joke, it's one believed to hold a good deal of truth to it. After all the bad things done by his hand or bad things turned a blind eye to, there has to be. Hell, Lloyd doesn't even care for him much. Okay, sure, father's day gift did happen, but the chances of Derek having planned that are way too high to ignore.]

[Melissa is so very done with that attitude, and it earns Karl a slight punch.]

Well, on the off chance that there people like that: fuck 'em. [Yup. You're awesome. Screw anyone who doesn't want you to be happy.

[Ow punch is so uncalled for. Okay, it didn't hurt but still. Karl rubs at his arm while mulling that over. Fuck them, huh? Melissa, if only his mind worked like yours. Maybe, eventually, he'll be able to do just that. One day.]

I'm afraid I can't do that. [It sounds so serious! Like his emo is going to come out full force!! But then comes that small smug grin.] After all, no proper boyfriend cheats on their girlfriend.

[Melissa does her very best to look as disapproving as humanly possible, though the very edge of a smirk comes through. Ok. she walked into that one.]

Hm... well, I guess you're right. Besdies, assholes like that don't deserve to have that experience.

[Bingo. Desired reaction gained. Her being mad or annoying her birthday just wouldn't do, after all. Even his lame jokes are better than nothing and somehow managed to get a smirk. Score one for the old guy.]

You're certain you don't want any water?

Maybe a little. [But she's still keeping her arms around you. Have fun with that.]

[The glass is thankfully within reach! A little stretch here... AND SUCCESS. Melissa's arms have failed to stop the hydrogen dioxide from getting to her. Karl wordless holds the glass out for her to take.]

[Ok, fine, she'll take it. But she's still not letting go, drinking a bit before resting her head on Karl.]

[Head resting is fine, especially with water drinking involved. He'll just sip at his tea, too. Yeah, today is is a good day.]
