goldenguitar: (Pierce [Done with this shit])

[Pierce shows up on the network, still with red hair, and looking kind of... frustrated. He is observing the camera with a frown, head propped up on his hands which are... gloved?]

So, I would like to submit myself in the running for most obnoxious echo ever.

[He, very gingerly, pulls off a glove, picking up random objects around his desk as he keeps talking.]

By the way, I don’t really plan on making posts on here all the time. This is just super shitty timing. Also, if I can get any tips on how to break this to parents, that would be awesome. There’s only so long I can pretend I’m high enough to think I need gloves that my folks will believe.

Oh, and one more thing-- a-ha. [Pierce holds up an apple, and from the tips of his fingers spread a sheen of gold, enveloping the apple within moments.]

I figured out what I hate Greek mythology.

[He sighs, pulling the glove back on and frowning down at his creation.] ...Anybody want a golden apple? [Any reference to the fairest of them all or giant wooden horses will totally be lost on him.]

[SIGH. It looks like an impromptu lesson on mythology is going to happen. Karl will not let it go, especially when this oddly pertains to the situation.]

The story of Paris and the Golden Apple, more frequently referred to as Paris' Judgment, begins at the wedding of Peleus, a hero, and Thetis, a sea goddess. I'll save details regarding them for a later time. So, all the gods had been invited to the ceremony, but one-- [AND INSERT HIM TRYING TO SAY ALL THIS IN HIS USUAL KARL FASHION.]

A good idea. It'll go well, trust me. [And he truly sounds like he believes it.]

[How much of that had Pierce listened to? The world may never know. If nothing else, at least the kid knows how to be kind polite.

Any thoughts on politeness get tossed aside at the question of his name. Karl's silent for a moment while debating the pros and cons of answering this honestly. He can lie. Easily. The only issue is that everyone on the Network knows his real name and can easily inform Pierce. Might as well tell the truth. What's the worst that could happen?]

...It is.

[Not pressing the issue of his name. Maybe Pierce asked dad or found a picture or something. The less known, the better.]

Not at all.

[Always happy to help educate young minds! Or something like that. But that last part. Pissed him off? Sure, some myths may not be kosher, but do they really bother him that much?]

Might I ask why it upsets you?

Ironic you would come to receive something right out of a tale you hate.

[Bonus points for know that tale though.]

Have you received any other echoes related to Midas?

[Pyralis, huh?]

Hold on a moment.

[Some silence follows for a good few moments due to browsing through some books. Atlanta... he vaguely recalls the name. AHA! Soon enough, Karl is back and bearing knowledge.]

Whoever had told you that was incorrect; according to reliable sources, she was in fact raised by bears.

[Unless there's another Atlanta. Always possible, but the one in this world WAS raised by bears. Sholarly sources do not lie. Okay, well, they may get proven inaccurate, but inaccuracy isn't lying.]

[SIGH. PIERCE YOU DISAPPOINT HIM. INSERT STORY OF ATLANTA. After finishing that story, Karl can't help but sigh once more.]

Given your clear connection to mythology, it'd behoove you to familiarize yourself with some of it.

Would you prefer having something even worse than the golden touch take you by surprise?

[Knowing the enemy is half the battle, Pierce.]

Medusa and her ability would be the worst off the top of my head.

[Very few things could beat that one.]

[S.I.G.H.]

Would you like the whole tale or just what ability she possessed?

[He's actually giving a choice!! Will wonders ever cease?]

Precisely why you should read up on these stories. If you really do have some tie to them, better to be informed than taken by surprise by a pulse later on.
