Who: Killian and Ariel, later joined by Liam
When: June 11th, around the time the blackouts start spreading
Where: Ariel's condo and then around a blackout area
What: Hijinks! And Liam fainting because he is a bad vegan

[So it's been a week since Killian finally admitted that he sort of likes Ariel like a lot but he hasn't said anything. He's not sure how and really, he's find just being friends.

Today is a movie night at Ariel's and they've got some cheesy action movie playing that he's not really focusing on--his phone had gone off with an emergency alert and he was reading it]

Huh, Dead District lost power.

[Ariel had been petting Cassandra when Killian's phone went off. Her own phone was on the counter by the kitchen where she'd left it and it had also peeped indicating a message had gone off.]

Dead district? Nothing good ever happens there from what I remember.

[She nudged Cass off her lap and stood, going to go get her phone, as well.]

[Cass moves to Killian's lap]

Nope. Used to live right on the edge of it--I don't recommend it. We may be getting blackouts in other parts of the city too.

[sylvanguard]

[Ariel frowned and pocketed her phone. She had no idea how this place was set up powerwise, aside from the fact that everything was energy efficient.]

I don't have any candles or flashlights either. Lets hope the power doesn't go out here.

[youngestone]

You wanna go hit up Wal-mart or the gas station and get some? Better safe than sorry, yeah?

[sylvanguard]

I just worry about the cats like knocking a candle over and catching something on fire. But maybe a camping lantern will be okay.

She really does not want to have to explain to Liam she burned down the condo because oops cats.]

Flashlights, too.

[Now it's his turn to move Cassandra so he can get up. The cat huffs as she stalks off]

Right, lemme find my shoes and we can head out?

[sylvanguard]

Yeah. [Her keys and wallet were all on a table by the front door and her shoes were just under it, so it was easy to get all that stuff at once.] Hopefully things will be quiet and we can just get in and out quickly.

[As she moved towards the front door, Khan sauntered up looking very much like he wanted out the front door... which wasn't going to happen. Ariel started nudging him away with her foot.]

No. I'll let you out in the garden when we get back.

[arrowpoint]

[Believe it or not, Liam does have the courtesy to knock on the door... that is, briefly, before there's a jingle of keys and the door unlocks. He pops inside, carrying a large bag of an expensive organic cat food on his shoulder.]

What's up?

[youngestone]

Ow!

[Guess who was behind the door? Killian shoves the door out of his way, one shoe on and the other in his hand as he rubs at his hip]

Dude, knock and wait for an answer!

[sylvanguard]

[Ariel is too busy diving for Khan who wants to shoot through Liam's to be grumpy at him.]

No bad kitty!

[Khan, being a Maine Coon, seems to fail at realizing that he is not exactly small.]

Close the door!

[arrowpoint]

Shit!

[Liam hurries to close the door, dropping the bag of cat food in the process. Thankfully, there's only a small rip in the bottom and a few kibble scattered across the floor.]

[Killian just facepalms as he gets his shoes on while the Elves mess with the cat]

Hey, Liam. You hear about the blackouts?

[sylvanguard]

[Ariel hefted Khan up, as he was not a light weight and gave him a few pets before gently tossing him away from the front door.]

Yeah we were about to head out to wal-mart for some flashlights and stuff just in case the power went out here as well.

[sylvanguard]

[Ariel had also grabbed aspirin, powerade and some water just in case Liam wanted to drink something. Any frowny faces from Liam were met with glares as she purposly handed him the water. the aspirin and powerade she kept for herself.

Once out side, she shoved earplugs into her ears, relaxing almost immediately as all the noise was finally settling down to tolerable levels. To fight off the headache that still lurked, she drank the powerade and took two aspirin.]

How often does power go out once it's been restored? I'd think it would be pretty stable? But if you guys want to go some place with no stares I am down with that.

[arrowpoint]

[Liam does indeed give frowny faces, but he takes the water anyway.]

We could always go to my place. Even if the power's out there, we have a generator.

[He stands near the back door of the car, waiting for Ariel to unlock it.]

Besides, I have to get back at some point and I don't think I can bike in this mess.

[youngestone]

Works for me. You're so far out of the city you might be safe anyway. Potato wedge?

[He offers them to both of the others. He doesn't really expect Liam to take one, though.]

[sylvanguard]

[Ariel is happy to have one and flashes Killian a smile in thanks.]

Okay so Liam's it is then.

[After all piling into the car, they started driving towards Liam's house. As they go, it looks as if the power is out sporadically in some places, further down the street from them or int he near distance, but after a few minutes they hit another dead zone in their path. This one looks like it had just occurred given the sudden traffic jam at a rather busy intersection and the pile of cars clogging the way.]


Well damn. Anyone wanna pop out and see how bad it is? Maybe I can back out and go down a different street...

[arrowpoint]

Yeah, sure.

[Now that they're back in the dark, Liam's voice is starting to waver again. Was this some kind of echo about the dark that had him feeling this way?]

...I kind of want some air, anyway.

[He unbuckles his belt and steps out of the car. He makes it a few steps forward in the direction of the traffic jam to see what's up, but he stops at the front of the car. He's got one hand on the hood now, and he's leaning heavily on it. He tries to take some deep breaths to steady himself.]

[youngestone]

[Killian starts to turn to Ariel but then he spots Liam and frowns. He unbuckles and starts to get out]

Liam? You okay, man?

[sylvanguard]

[Ariel can't really get out of the car, not legally but she starts to undo her seatbelt anyway since she actually is the one with first aid training. She glances to Killian though as she puts the car into park and clambers out of it.]

Liam you okay dude?

[arrowpoint]

[Liam takes a second to answer.]

I don't know.

[He's trying again to take some deep breaths, it doesn't appear to be helping any.]

Crap... I don't feel so--

[Then his legs go out from under him, and he crumples to the ground onto his side.]

[youngestone]

Aw, hell.

[Killian hops out of the car, hurrying over so he can check Liam out the best he can. He also restarts the flashlight app on his phone]

He doesn't seem sick, beyond the whole anemic look he's got.

[sylvanguard]

[As soon as Liam was down, Ariel had sprung into action, moving to kneel by him and start the whole checklist which she had been trained to do, checking for breathing, pulse and pupil dilation. His fall had been gentle so she wasn't too worried about head or back injury.]

Help me get him into the car. We're taking him to the ER. It might be anemia or it could be something else. I'm not gonna risk it.

[youngestone]

Yeah. Get the door, I can lift him.

[Sure, he's short, but he's able to lift Liam enough to drag him over to the backseat of the car]

[sylvanguard]

[She flung open rear door and then circled around to the other side to help pull Liam into the back seat. Once that was done, she jumped into the dirver's seat, waiting only long enough for Killian to get in. there was another car behind them now so she couldn't back out, but as there was no oncoming traffic, she made and illegal U-Turn into the other lane, and then turned down a side street headed for the nearest hospital.]

I hope he is okay, and this is just some freaky afraid of the dark plus anemia thing he has going for him.

[But as she was driving and the adrenaline fading, she was beginning to feel woozy herself.]
