When: June 11th, around the time the blackouts start spreading
Where: Ariel's condo and then around a blackout area
What: Hijinks! And Liam fainting because he is a bad vegan

[So it's been a week since Killian finally admitted that he sort of likes Ariel like a lot but he hasn't said anything. He's not sure how and really, he's find just being friends.

Today is a movie night at Ariel's and they've got some cheesy action movie playing that he's not really focusing on--his phone had gone off with an emergency alert and he was reading it]

Huh, Dead District lost power.

[Ariel had been petting Cassandra when Killian's phone went off. Her own phone was on the counter by the kitchen where she'd left it and it had also peeped indicating a message had gone off.]

Dead district? Nothing good ever happens there from what I remember.

[She nudged Cass off her lap and stood, going to go get her phone, as well.]

[Cass moves to Killian's lap]

Nope. Used to live right on the edge of it--I don't recommend it. We may be getting blackouts in other parts of the city too.

[Ariel frowned and pocketed her phone. She had no idea how this place was set up powerwise, aside from the fact that everything was energy efficient.]

I don't have any candles or flashlights either. Lets hope the power doesn't go out here.

[youngestone]

You wanna go hit up Wal-mart or the gas station and get some? Better safe than sorry, yeah?

[sylvanguard]

I just worry about the cats like knocking a candle over and catching something on fire. But maybe a camping lantern will be okay.

She really does not want to have to explain to Liam she burned down the condo because oops cats.]

Flashlights, too.

[Now it's his turn to move Cassandra so he can get up. The cat huffs as she stalks off]

Right, lemme find my shoes and we can head out?

[sylvanguard]

Yeah. [Her keys and wallet were all on a table by the front door and her shoes were just under it, so it was easy to get all that stuff at once.] Hopefully things will be quiet and we can just get in and out quickly.

[As she moved towards the front door, Khan sauntered up looking very much like he wanted out the front door... which wasn't going to happen. Ariel started nudging him away with her foot.]

No. I'll let you out in the garden when we get back.

[arrowpoint]

[Believe it or not, Liam does have the courtesy to knock on the door... that is, briefly, before there's a jingle of keys and the door unlocks. He pops inside, carrying a large bag of an expensive organic cat food on his shoulder.]

What's up?

[youngestone]

Ow!

[Guess who was behind the door? Killian shoves the door out of his way, one shoe on and the other in his hand as he rubs at his hip]

Dude, knock and wait for an answer!

[sylvanguard]

[Ariel is too busy diving for Khan who wants to shoot through Liam's to be grumpy at him.]

No bad kitty!

[Khan, being a Maine Coon, seems to fail at realizing that he is not exactly small.]

Close the door!

[arrowpoint]

Shit!

[Liam hurries to close the door, dropping the bag of cat food in the process. Thankfully, there's only a small rip in the bottom and a few kibble scattered across the floor.]

[Killian just facepalms as he gets his shoes on while the Elves mess with the cat]

Hey, Liam. You hear about the blackouts?

[sylvanguard]

[Ariel hefted Khan up, as he was not a light weight and gave him a few pets before gently tossing him away from the front door.]

Yeah we were about to head out to wal-mart for some flashlights and stuff just in case the power went out here as well.

[arrowpoint]

Uh, no? What blackouts?

[He turns to Ariel, with an exasperated look.]

...Ugh, wal-mart? Really?

[Pause.]

Let me just put the cat food in the kitchen and I'll be right with you.

[youngestone]

Dude, it's easy in and out. Yes they are literally spawned from Satan's--

[And then there go the lights]

[sylvanguard]

[Ariel lets out a few choice curse words as everything is suddenly pitch black.]

Okay... well... hope no one is afraid of the dark... right?

[arrowpoint]

No, but it's annoying.

[He steps forward and you can hear the crunch of cat food under his shoe.]

...So, we still going to get flashlights?

[youngestone]

Yeah, if they're--aw, hell.

[Killian bends over, a little woozy as he's hit by an Echo. Damn everything to hell, why does everything have to get him a pulse nowadays?

--musn't let Thorin know, I've got to be there when the door opens, I'll feel fine in a day or two anyway, never mind how sick I feel right now--

He takes a breath, standing up again]

Sorry, pulse. Yeah, we need flashlights. I'll get my sword.

[Liam goes quiet for a moment, though when he speaks next his voice wavers.]

...So, yeah, should we get going?

[sylvanguard]

[Ariel blinks trying to see in the dark, instantly concerned for Killian.]

Are you--

[And then she staggers as a pulse hits her as well and suddenly everything is louder. Breathing, moving even her own heartbeat. She sort of flings her hand out to lean against the table. Event he sound of her hand hitting the side table is really loud.]

Holy shit! [And then a lot more softly as she winces:] Ow. That's new.

[youngestone]

Did you guys get one too?

[Killian ignores Liam and goes to where Ariel's voice is coming from, concerned. He reaches for her, taking her wrist]

Because I just got a pulse.

[sylvanguard]

[Hearing them talk is causing her pain, but Killian's hand on her wrist is a comfort. She raches out and squeezes his hand affectionately.] Dudes stop shouting. [And then another wince as her own voice is also equally loud.]

Ow. Just talk softly. I'm either getting a migraine without the headache or I just pulsed back something annoying.

[She is just now becoming aware that she can hear some of the sounds of the city outside. Mostly honking horns form irate drivers.]

If we're going I think it might be safer to walk. I think traffic lights are out too.

[arrowpoint]

Sounds like a plan.

[Whoops.]

I mean, sounds like a plan... so what was that? A pulse thing?

[Well, now he's starting to remember his first two. Of course, he thought that sensation was just due to him being tired all the time.]

[youngestone]

We're not shouting, Ariel.

[Still, he lowers his voice as requested and squeezes her hand when she squeezes his]

The woozy feeling? Yeah. Stay here, I'm gonna get my sword and my bow. If this blackout is Network-related, who knows what's out there.

[sylvanguard]

I want to get mine too, but it's in the car so we'll have to make a detour to the parking garage.

[She turns to Liam, hi Liam, she remembers you're there, really.]

You get something as well? Now I think this has to be network related I doubt we'd all get this if it was something normal. Are you armed at all?

[Not that she'd trust him with any weapons.]
