I suppose I should say this is not what I anticipated. The "heroes" who saved Locke City from certain doom had been scurrying and hiding in the shadows for nearly a year prior. [Pause, a slight lift of her considerable eyebrows.] Not without reason, perhaps, yet... not what one anticipates.

My question is, are you satisfied with what path now lies before you, and what it took to get there? [Her tone grows quicker, and far sharper.] What do you think that path is?

After that snake, this city was beset by creatures once more, yet beings from another world cleaned up the mess. Altruistic thought their intentions may be, and I will give credit for cleaning up their own disaster, or what was left of it... I for one am not satisfied to simply let myself just be protected. To simply be reactive to the problems we are sure to face.

[Her eyes narrow.] I imagine the same must apply to more of you out there. To push forward, become stronger, and seize the power that's been put within our grasp. Because there will be other threats. Out in the open, Numbered will not remain so good natured forever. People will use us. Monsters and aliens are real, and even if these visitors mean us no harm, who knows what else may be out there now?

So, I am curious.

[Her head tilts back, voice raising a little.] Who has the pride in their ability and self worth to truly steel themselves, to really be prepared for what else may come down this road we've been forced upon?

[She lowers her head, expression never wavering throughout.] I would simply like to know those whom I am dealing with.

[There's a long moment where Raye can only sit and stare, stunned at the video. At the girl whose face she already knows well, despite never having seen her before.

The face standing beside a woman who radiated madness.

[Senketsu glances up from his place around her neck, sensing the change in his wearer's emotions and narrows his eye. Raye pays him no mind, however, because there's something much more important on her mind right now. Out of the blue, she has a name to put to that face. A name that tumbles from her lips before she can even think about it, almost by instinct.]

I can't figure out if you're stuck up, just an asshole, or both.

[oh great. one of those again. shou frowned at the feed for a moment, part of him insisting to just turn it off and not come into contact with someone who clearly has their own agenda. he had enough of that - the older man sitting at the head of the table, talking about his town his rules, making his blood boil because son bought the stupidity - and he wasn't going to accept it in this life.

If you really think there's power here, then you really don't have a clue. [they might have met in a charity or three; shou never kept track of them after a while. his english here is harsher with an edge to it, and while he still looked some what the same, he was losing the softness from his pampered life.]

As for what's to come, there's still a lot of people that are still clueless.

Don't think we haven't already figured that out. That we might be used, or are being used. And, speaking as someone who's been around the bush, the first lesson you should learn is that you never fully trust what you hear on the news, no matter how much you might want to.

[Or how much you seem compelled to, as the case may be.]

We aren't heroes. It doesn't matter what the news, or whatever anyone else here tells you. We're human. We may not all be human in the literal sense, but we are flawed. We make mistakes. We lived normal lives before all of this. The only difference is that we're slightly better equipped to possibly fight back.

I don't think whether or not we have the pride really matters at this point. We will have to deal with everything regardless. It is a pointless question to ask.

As for the first question, I suppose it depends. Am I satisfied with my path? Not really? Am I satisfied with what it took to get me here? Definitely not.

[ Alexi is having some trouble following her words, given some of the more advanced vocabulary and he probably blinks at the screen for a good two minutes before finally hitting the voice message button.

His tone is unsure and hesitant, as if reluctant to directly question her. But something about what she's saying just doesn't sit right with him. ]

This is quite the post to make to the network, lately. What with the rampant FBI business and all.

I'm pretty sure when it comes down to it, there will be some people who are willing to put themselves forwards and take a stand more so than others. There might even be a few people willing to lead. Others will follow and some will want nothing to do with any of this whole mess. But you have to remember a great deal of us are still just learning what it means to be numbered.

As for myself, my first echo or pulse-- whatever you want to call it was from a bow. I think it's safe to say I used it for some kind of lethal purpose be it a fighter or no.

That is... also how I feel. I am not content to let myself s-sit back and wait for things to happen. I have to... protect the people that are important to me. And I want to make this stop. I want... peace to r-return to my city, even if it's just not having to fight aliens. Things may be under control in Locke City, but that doesn't explain... the things in Las Vegas.

I am not that strong, alone. But I won't l-let that stop me. I will keep getting stronger, and together with my friends, I want to end this.

[Matt looks... decidedly unimpressed.]

Ah, to be young and naive, again. [And then he straightens.] Not everyone is a superhero, you know.

When you say it like that, it comes off as if you think you are the first one to realize any of that.

I'm going to be entirely honest.

I'm not satisfied in the least. There's something I want to do, something I want to be, and I'm going to take it, no matter how hard I have to work or how much I have to sacrifice.

Two of the people in my life didn't let anything hold them back when they made their decisions on what to be, and neither will I.

This thing here... it's not what I want to be. I have pride in my abilities, but in the ones I earned. If this stuff is going to get in the way of all that, well... I'll endure it. But I'll do it on my terms, not everyone else's.

Don't know about forcing, but I know that I ain't gonna let this shit beat me.

It's not right to say I have pride in an ability I don't know everything about yet. Or that I'd "seize" any kind of power, whether it was meant for me or not. It just doesn't sound right at all. What I do know is that I have a responsibility towards others now, because of it... I may have heard that from someone else, at a different time. [ A different life. ] But I believe that.

I won't be satisfied until a magical tailor shows up.
