So, uh, anyone wanna bet on Vegas being the next Town of Crazy Numbered Hijinks? I mean, that light looked pretty similar to the stuff that shot up from here a few months ago. Does this mean it's less of a "Locke City" thing and more of a--what the hell.

[More rustling and then he flips the feed to video to show off a sword]

I am getting really tired of finding stuff in places when it wasn't there a week ago. Pulses I can handle. Finding swords in my suitcase or boots under the bed or bows in the closet, not so much. Next it'll be axes in the freezer or something, I swear to God.

Anyone, d'you think the pink light means it's an Earth thing and not just a Locke City thing?

You can be a decent person and still be a massive dick. See: several people I'm related to. Several people on the Network. Politicians.

Business men tend to be one step down from politicians, maybe that's where he gets it from.

Although I'm not sure that I believe that the majority of politicians can be described as good people.

Well, at some point they had to be. And then power went to their heads and yeah.

I can think of a few examples of politicians who were arseholes before they managed to get any power.

But that's by the by. Teagan's really not that bad when you get to know him. You probably both started off on the wrong foot.

He threatened to sue me or call the cops or something for accidentally bumping him because I might have knocked his phone out of his hand. In a crowded mall. With preteens everywhere.

That would be a bad start then. [Gabriel sighs.] I take it his phone didn't break?

It never left his hand. Even if it had, though, there were little kids everywhere.

That probably didn't help. When you're already on your guard it's hard to keep your temper in check.

Not that it's your fault either! Like I said, I think you both started on the wrong foot. But, well, it's easy to do that with Teagan unfortunately. [If it wasn't for the circumstances he wouldn't push it so much, but unfortunately there's a high chance they'll need to interact.]

Gabriel? He's a dick. Just admit he's a dick. He can be your friend, but he still a dick and you're a saint for trying.

I wouldn't say that! But maybe we can agree to disagree.

[Shaking his head, Gabriel chuckles.] Wouldn't that be a twist in the tale. I'm sure there must be at least one saint on the network already or just waiting for that first echo.

I'm sure Thorir would be quick to disillusion you, though.

Probably, but that's what friends do. They make the other sound like awful.

Wise words! He has some photographic evidence, though, or he did if he kept them. ...I might still have some somewhere. It depends if they're in the things I shipped over or what's in storage back in London.

Yeah, about that. When was someone gonna tell me my uncle was a freaking model? I found that out during Icelandic lessons!

Nope. And yeah, he showed me a shoot with you and him and then I went and Googled more. It's weird, but cool.

I'm surprised as many of them made it online as they did, but I suppose he did have quite a fan following. I think he broke more than a few hearts when he announced he was marrying Mardís. Mind you, she was a better model than the pair of us.

It's Aunt Mardís. I think she's better at everything than everyone, or at least if she isn't you don't say that!

I see you've got the knack of it already!

How're you getting on with everyone? I know their family can be a bit of a crowd if you end up the centre of their attention.

[And this goes private really quickly]

I don't want Thorir to hear. I'm doing good so far, but I'm worried about the older set when they come back.

[Understanding the switch, Gabriel's expression turns a little more serious. He might play and tease, but he knows when it's best to put that aside.]

Thorir will stand by you. He always did do what he could for Hjalti. And while it's no consolation for the way that they treated your parents, I should hope that they can look past them and see that you're blameless. [Not that they need another grandchild, but Gabriel hopes that they're sensible enough not to put their issues with the parents on the child.]

If it becomes uncomfortable, you're always welcome here. I'm sure there are others who would welcome you too.

Yeah, Da--Hjalti's said the same. Pretty sure Fil'd help me find someplace, too.

[He lets out a breath]

Not used to that. People actually caring beyond the Ryans, that is.

[Gabriel smiles.] Family is family. It's good that you found the other half of yours, even if it was a little late.

You'd better get used to it, anyway. I doubt any of us are going anywhere. [And since he's the newest member of the extended family and the youngest of them on the network he's going to have more than a few worried eyes on him. ] You'll just have to kick us or something if it gets too much.

Kicking I can do. You don't wanna know how many times already Fil and I have tried to beat the shit out of each other.
