1. Voice. Cellphone.
[Why is he calling this number again? Some odd urge had taken hold of him over the prior few days to reach this number by any means possible. Ah well, maybe discovering what this number is may help reveal why.]
Hello. My name is Richard Locke. What precisely is this number? Recently, for reasons unnecessary to divulge, this number has become one of interest for myself and--
[A sudden knocking in the background cuts him off.]
Ah, Mr. Locke?
[It's a girl from one of his classes. Thoughts of questioning the network get postponed in favor of playing the part of teacher. His voice grows a bit distant, clearly speaking to the student rather than to the phone.]
Yes, Lily, what is it?
Well, when you were in the cafeteria, you dropped this catalog thing.
[Sounds can be heard over the phone as she produces said catalog from her bag. When had that even left his grasp? Clearly this morning's cup of coffee had been too small if that getting dropped had escaped him.]
Ah, I hadn't realized I'd dropped it. Thank you.
Anytime! [Pause.] So, are you going to buy a motorcycle?
[A pause comes from Richard's end, too. Of course, she would have to notice what was in said catalog.]
No, I have no intention of doing so.
But this one right here is circled. [She points towards one.] It's a really nice looking bike, sir! You'll probably look really good on it! Ah! No, I mean...! Here!
[The catalog gets dumped on his desk before the flustered girl runs out of the classroom. Sometimes high school crushes work towards one's favor, but still... He sighs before turning his attention back to the phone.]
As mentioned before, any details pertaining to what this number is would be appreciated. Thank you.
[And turning off the phone before glancing warily at the catalog on his desk. Midlife crisis? What midlife crisis?]

It's a rather long story, actually. And if you'd rather talk about it in person, you can come by my classroom. I'm there now.
[He fully expects Locke to recognize his voice, too. Right down to that weariness there.]
And no, it's not my fault, I promise. I'm just as wrapped up in it as everyone else is, somehow or another.
[Audio ---> Action]
As convenient as you being the culprit behind this would be, it's unlikely you're capable of concocting something of this caliber.
[There's a hint of humor in that. Seriously though, getting a number stuck in his head and getting him to go out and buy a damn sword just cause of a dumb urge? Yeah, takes way more skill than a biology teacher likely possesses.]
Expect me there momentarily.
[Richard flicks off the phone and begins to make his way towards Lyall's classroom. This little chat will hopefully help clear up whatever all this nonsense is. Sudden odd knowledge about swords coupled with a weird number in your head? Not normal. A sigh escapes him as he continues walking.
Within a few moments, he's arrived at the destination. Rather than stepping inside the classroom instantly, two knocks at the door come first. Best to make sure the other man wasn't busy before proceeding in.]
[Action!]
It's open, come on in!
[Now, hopefully it's actually Richard and not a student.]
[Action!]
I appreciate you seeing me on such short notice.
[Especially since this talk appears to be intruding on Lyall's lunch. Just because Richard can survive without much food though the day didn't mean others were the same.]

It's lunch. And it's a very long story, that number that showed up in your head. I've had mine, and been on that network you just accessed, for a month and a half now. I'm guessing you only just got yours...?

[[Why doesn't he have a sarcasm font. Why.]]
Use your mute button next time, Mr. Locke.
[Text]
[Sorry, he wants serious answers. That? Yeah no.]
And I had not felt it necessary to use it at the time.

Calling a mysterious number and then you get your personal life all over the call? Remind me never to be in a room with you.
[Text]
That conversation had been neither intentional nor particularly personal.

And probably in math class, his least favorite.]]
Having a dippy girl trying to hit on you sounds kinda personal to me.

Anyway, welcome, if that's the word, to the Numbers Club. Congratulations and condolences.

The Numbers Club?
no subject
That's what some of us call it. "Everyone who has a number they can use to get to the weird numbers network" is a bit unwieldy, after all.
no subject
Yes, that is fairly wordy as a club name, though a more concise as an answer. How had you obtained this number?
no subject
This number, as in yours? Or the number that lets me on this thing?

[ Here is the point.
Here is Colette. ]
audio;
Well, that is true, but the comment still catches him off guard. Of all the things to focus on, she chose that.]
...They do have their advantages. [Pause] Do you possess one of your own?
audio;
[ Colette on a motorcycle... that's a thing that probably wouldn't turn out very well. ]
But they look fun to ride.
audio;
They certainly do, don't they? Motorcycles seem as though they would provide a thrill unmatched by a car.
audio;
Is that why you're looking at them?

[A pause.]
Look me up if you want to talk motorcycles. I've got one of my own.
[Audio]
[Not that Lyall won't be providing information, too, but getting details from more than one source is never a bad idea.
That said, the second comment catches his attention fairly quickly.]
What type of motorcycle do you have?
[Audio]
[Yes, talking about motorcycles is good. Much better than talking about the network. Motorcycles are normal.]
A Honda XR250. She's a 2003 model, but I take good care of her. Runs like a dream.
[Audio]
Someone was murdered by the police after speaking to them about this?
[Motorcycle talk does beat murder talk.]
Age matters little; it all comes down to how you take care of... her. Does she require a good deal of upkeep?
[Audio]
[Yes, Hajime would definitely rather talk about the bike.]
Kind of. She was a little bit of a fixer-upper when I got her, but I've got everything under control now.
